I think the game is great. Free to play or VIP, I like the classes, the quests, and the gameplay. The difference between this game and others is that it can be either extremely easy or frustratingly hard. All depends on the difficulty you select from solo to elite. You can make whatever class combination you like although it might suck in the long run. You really need to put some thought into character creation otherwise you'll end up rerolling later on because your character won't be able to do certain things.
The only negative aspect I've experienced is the elitist attitude by players who've been around awhile. They seem to be disdainful towards new free to play people and don't want to waste any time trying to teach new people what to do. They also "zerg" dungeons that is run through the whole place like its a race without saying a word.

Not everyone wants to teach people how to play. Your attitude about those players is no better. You have branded all vets with your incorrect assumptions.
Unfortunately you seem to be woefully ignorant of the fact that those veteran players were newbs at one point too. They either had to learn the content or were taught themselves by someone else. So they can ditch the snobbery when dealing with someone new and stop being jerkoffs which is what they are when they snub their noses at new people. I've seen groups for content I haven't done yet as a VIP and the listing says "Know what to do" for raids and such.
Besides if it weren't for the influx of new players these elitist douchebags are snuffling about they're game would be DEAD. My comments don't list all veteran players as such, you seem to weakly attempt that and if it makes you feel guilty you must be one of those aforementioned dbags.

We learned the content without begging for help. Thank you for understanding. I do not feel guilty at all. I feel you are nothing but a troll, just like you are on the DDO forums. Nothing changes.
Look. I am on Thelanis. I am a VIP. And I am willing to help ANYONE who wants help.
Yes, I am a gamer girl. Dungeons and Dragons Online: April 2006 THELANIS: Guild: Merc's Only. Trissa, Kleo, Sousake, Mulder, Roselyn, Caboose, Kaname, Scully, Courwin, Oncoming, Lanarissa, Doomlord, Tnannet, Healbotatron, keitherland, Keatheran, Allura, Riversong, Johnsmith, Jennysmith I also play Star Trek Online and LotRO, on occasion.
You can use those to immediately buy a +1 weapon for your character. Don't get the wrong idea here and think that you'll have to buy gear...thats not true. In fact, running on D&D rules makes gear a smaller factor in your character than skills, feats, and levels. For instance, that +1 weapon is only adding 1 to your chance to hit, and 1 to your damage. That 1 point of damage is hardly enough to warrant feeling useless
+1 weapon vs mundane weapon, means 5% more chance to hit, and around 10% bonus damage (depends on your strength and weapon base damage). Nevertheless, it's stupid to waste turbine points for +1 weapon, which is quite a common drop among level 2-3 dungeons and are often part of the quest rewards.

Branch out takes MERCS only to Cannith and start it all over again. I left Thelanis for Cannith and it was like a whole new game. I had no money for twinking, no high levels to pass down gear. It was fun. I think it saved DDO for me.
I just began playing after quitting shortly after the initial release. The starter experience is vastly improved over what it was when the game first came out.
If the rest of the game has been improved as much then I could find myself enjoying this game on a regular basis.

Are there capes in the game?
Yes there are capes but they are more like cloak's and aren't visible ♠
Thanks for answering my stupid question, I just think capes are awesome. I think I'll download it and try it out cause I'm all curious now
