I didn't vote because I've been playing since block A, but I can tell you its been horrible. The lag has been too severe for me to do much of anything, I still can't manage to bank half my inventory. I can't imagine that anyone who's tried it has managed to explore any of the content with this lag. Still, since the servers are still packed solid, I have to assume people still want to try it. That must mean they're at least a little interested in what it has to offer.
6/10
gameplay is good fun and the world is amazing. The lag issues almost make it unplayable and it is frustrating to see issues in the OB that should really have been sorted in the CB (i understand that they are a small team though so i will give them some slack).
The Patching issues took the score down a notch or two as they really should have been handled better than they where.
here is hoping it all becomes stable soon or at least by the launch so we can enjoy the fun elements of the game.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
all we can hope for but there not going to release with these issues
Someone honestly voted a 10/10? ROFL....
I give it 2/10 and here is why.. the gave is not complete.. not even close. Skill books introduced are totally borked.. I cant see the books I need to buy for harvesting... just blank spaces on vendors. If there were no issues getting into the game the best it could get would be a 6/10 or MAYBE a 7/10 if it was perfect (which is itsn't even close). With the patcher issues, the nowgame.exe errors.. and the lag... how could it be higher than a 2?
1/2 the people can't get in.. and the ones that get it working have 10 second lag.... they struggle to overcome it to find invisible walls, placeholder skills and guards... etc...

I voted 4.
I've never been in a buggier beta, but I've seen crappier games. Most people are just miffed for some selfish reason or another, this game ain't breaking my heart like some of you.

I thought it was alpha....
This is an alpha, and I give it a score of 3 even as such...
Correct, this game is in alpha state at best.

I voted a 7/10.
This may seem a little high to some people, but my standards are significantly lower since I did the Vanguard beta. At least when I get into this game I can manage to play with out CTD every 10 mins, and CPU shutdown every hour due to massive memory leaks (that were still present launch day for VG BTW)
Yeah its rough, and there are still patcher issues that can make it take litteraly days to get into the game. But on the other side of that, this dev team is the best I have ever seen for keeping the community informed of the status of the game, and they have been very straight forward with what they expect the game to be like at release. Still missing a few of the promised things, but hey, it is still beta after all. *raises flame shield*
I honestly think they have the worst communication of any recent beta or released game I have been a part of. Where are the big update posts? We are entering the second week of Open Beta and they haven't even given an estimate of it's length. We don't know if they are looking at another week.. month.... no idea...
They may be talkative on IRC... but that's really no substitute for regularly posting in the Announcement section on their Forums or updating their News section on the webpage. When they do post (in my experience) it is usually either a response buried on page 12 of a thread or a ninja edit of a post. They need to simply post an UPDATE every few days. Perferable a new thread in the announcements section.. or a thread that is LOCKED so they can add posts to it and not be buried under 1000 responses. That's what a Community Manager (which they have) should be doing.

Theres content?
They should limit access to open beta until lag issues are resolved.
There was constant bitching about Darkfall and Aion how they limit access to buying accounts / logging in - but it was the thing that Aventurine and NCSoft had to do to avoid lag making game unplayable for 95% of those who logged in.
Yes, it's beta. But it doesn't mean that those potential customers who showed interest in MO should be treated like that. Implementing limited access to the server would take max 2 days for average programmer - and it would improve testing process and game experience 100x times.
Beta hehe-sounds like moving from pre-alpha to alpha.
2/10 is my vote.
I understand it's a small team with limited resources, however 3 days to dl is pathetic, then it finally finishes and I have to try to log in a minimum of 10 times before it stops telling me it can't connect to the remote server. THEN I get in game and can barely do anything because of the lag. The graphics are nice which is why it got a 2 as opposed to a 1.
Yeah the lag and bugs should be fixed and I hope more content will be added at launch but otherwise it's great game. And it took 3 hours from me to patch and download the game though I used torrent files not that ****ing launcher. And btw this game is in real beta not like LOTROs beta which wasn't real beta.
Voted 7/10
Ill give it a 4/10.
2 points for concept of the game. I like the ideas. 2 points for scenary etc. I am well dissapointed with this game tbh. Ill probably check back in 6 months but for me now ive gone onto FE for the time being. The lag is absolutely ridiculous...actually fix that for me and your going in the right direction.
Just to give you all an idea of what a game almost in alpha looks like here's a video of Natural Selection 2
Can I vote if I I'm not high enough level to get past the patching stage?
3 / 10.
Needs a solid 6 months more work before maybe launching.
As I posted on a different forum, they've made a very nice big wooden frame but they couldn't afford to get the sand delivered, so they are asking you sit inside the empty box and play with the dirt instead.
it's an alpha, i give MO a 3.
I rated it a 2 (possibly 3). I've posted my experiences elsewhere, but, in short, between the HORRIBLE patching/installing process, the invisible walls, and the overall lack of content/state of the game, it has a long way to go before being in the "beta" stage.
"Going Against The Grain Should Be A Way Of Life"
i forgot what i gave the game after reading all the posts but i think i gave it a 3 based on the graphics mostly. other than that, this game needs alot of work still. character creation i thought could have been better for this game. they have some sliders and some options but i was hoping for more. combat is pretty interesting and it takes a second for me to find out if ive actually hit something or not. i had a little trouble getting my icons in my toolbar for harvesting but that really doesnt warrant bashing of the game. getting spawn camped by people calling the guards on you everytime you rez is very harrassing though. i hope the devs fix that because that gets really annoying. I didnt know how to find out what materials i needed for crafting and that kind of aggravated me a little bit but thats probably just my problem. maybe i need to buy those books? i think this game needs another 6 months to a year of development and it will be a really good game. it does remind me of UO a little bit how you just start in a town and you have nothing and know nothing except the game is in a first person mode and you have no map. i wont be buying this game until some more work is done on it. just some of my random thoughts about the open beta.
How can anyone justify giving MOs OB a 10??? You may support the game, but give me a break.
The OB has been largely unplayable. (regardless of bugs,content,polish,mechanics.netcode...)
SV wouldnt even give it a 10.
I win!!! LOL@U

The 2 points were for: The graphics are decent and I like the ethos behind the game.
The loss of points was for:
The launcher is a mess, but once I did get it to work (the launcher won't update itself through the shortcut for some unknown reason) the d/l rate I got was excellent, basically uses p2p. I patched both parts of the game from scratch and was playing in around 3 hours which was pretty much maximum for my connection.
Everything else is practically unusable, you cant play the game due to the horendously bad lag. You can't do anything that actually requires interaction between your client and the server. You can't bank, you can't fight, you can't really do much of anything except run about. I played the game around block C or D and in this respect it has actually gone backwards, this obviously due to the large number of people now logged in and maybe it would be fixable simply by increasing their infrastructure and cluster size. As you move away from towns things do get less laggy but they still havn't resloved the severe client/server communication issues that have always been there, I'm not certain they have the know how either. Also in this type of game you do NEED to return to hubs to bank etc, and you simply can't.
I hope they work things out and I will keep logging in occasionally to see how things change.

I voted a 2..
I was interesting in the game but its in such a sad state right now that I dont even know why they wanted this in open beta..
Graphics are ok but thats about it.. Motion blur is way overdone and the video options dont seem to work even editing the INI is hit / miss ( 16x AF is about the only one that works besides resolution..for me anyway ). Player models are decent but nothing to brag about.
I wish there was a " Show Clothes " option so I wouldnt have to deal with the people who run around nude for no reason at all. I also dont like being slapped in the face with it on character creation. I really dont know why they decided to have nudity in the game unless they thought it would get them more sales. It isnt really needed IMO.
Animations are very poor.
NowGame.exe = SB.EXE.
Combat is really slow.
No Mobs to kill other than wildlife and at this stage of testing that it is a little sad.
Way way to many skills especially when it comes to harvesting / crafting. I dont really think you should have to dedicate one character that mines ore and another character to create armor with it. I liked the way UO had it.. Could Mine / Smith and still have points left over to defend yourself from players or monsters. If they keep the skill system the way it is then I would hope they have a shared bank so you could store the ore or whatever and use it on your crafter.
UI needs to be better. I dont particularly care for a hotbar not in first person view anyways. Seem like it would be more of a problem than anything. Only so much you can do with your left hand and using mouse mode wouldnt work since you cant turn left / right ( unless I missed something ).
