You should be able to run it on low...the only thing that worries me is the graphics card. And the processor. The RAM is fine. It should work.

You can run oblivion with that setup (I know that for a fact) on pretty OK settings. I think he can play on the lowest setting.

Bestbuy is the last place I would buy a computer.  Tigerdirect or newegg have faster everything at around the same price.

A 256 meg video card is pretty crappy these days.

    That looks like onboard graphics.

You need atleast an 8800gt, 9900 or gtx 200 series if you are going with nvidia.

I am sure someone who is familiar with the 8800gt + equivelent can tell you what sort fo ati card you would use.

Sorry, you might (maybe) be able to run at lowest lowest lowest settings. Maybe. No promises. I know Nvidia is selling a pretty good gaming rig right now that you can assemble yourself for about 500. Unfortunately most computers that cost that much have intergrated graphics. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5574380&CatId=3446

I'll post any other computers I find that would be good.

Actually forget the gateway should have looked closer my fault. But the Acer would be a great little setup and Tiger is reliable.

No offence, but why even bother with this computer? Build your own that will last you for a few years, this thing will be worthless in less then 1 if you care to play newer video games.

    never buy an eMachine

if you just bought it, take it back yesterday!  u can easily find a better comp for $400.

but if you ARE stuck with it now, well, after looking at the specs its not too bad.  its got an ok cpu, at least its not a celeron.

the only upgrade i recommend is the vid card.  and you dont have to spend all that much either.  spending $100-$200 on a vid card should make that comp run your games with decent fps.  ati/nvidia, it doent matter.  tho u can probably get a better price/performance ratio with an ati card.

oh and uh, depending on what vid card you get, be mindful of the psu in your machine.

the nvidia gforce 240s are less than $100 now.

edit: Oh and i forgot to mention they dont require a PSU attachment. Heard that's why they are good for budget store bought computers.

Get a refund for that emachines and use this to get 15% cashback from tigerdirect and buy a computer from them.  They sale decent barebone kits.
