Warhammer = disappointment

Well, with this game engine, even the game artwork is good, the overall game experience is a disappointment.

I understand now, why Warhammer is not a big success. I played the 10 levels from trial, game engine lag like hell.. and i have a good computer. I tried on my jobt on a even better machine, same problem. That's it folks.

I've been playing the trial on and off ... my rig:

    Core i5 775 ;2.8 GHz + boost

    4 GB DDR3

    nVidia GTX260 896MB

640 GB WD Caviar Black SATA3 ;7200 RPM

    Windows 7

... Nothing special. You could build my PC for $1000 or less today.

I get about 100 FPS. Not an ounce of lag, even in group battles. And I have it set on "Ohh shiney" or whatever the top quality setting is, and I play at 1920x1200... So ya, either your computer sucks, is running dirty (stop w/ the pr0n) or something. It's not the game - it's you.

Played - UO, FFXI, WAR, WoW, EVE

I run maxed out solid 60-90 FPS, no issues. So either A) you are lying, B) You are trolling, or C) You are lying.

    Or

    D) All of the above.

I have same computer like you. But I use 1680x1050 that's maximum on my 22LCD I think. What ever you want to say, the game is unplayable especially in RVR.

As there is no way he could have those specs and have issues in WAR.

You claim your system is the same as mine ... convenient. Yet you have problems, and I don't.

    Interesting.

But really I'm serious - about 10 hours played on my trial account, and no hitches. And yes, I played back at release (same graphics card with a Core 2 Duo CPU) and the game was far from perfect. It has come a longggg way. Not sure why you're having issues.

It runs great, but it has no soul.  that's why it's a flub IMHO.    I never had any problems at all (it ran at 75fps with all the bells on) except for the extreme lack of fun.

Maybe i was expecting the wrong thing, as I am a big fan of the tabletop game.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

I have no reasons to lie, seriously, that's my opinion, the game engine is bad coded. Crysis can run very well but Warhammer don't. Is not acceptable to have such game engine lag in PVP especially in RVR what was one of the most important part of the game.

I don't see any other reasons why Warhammer is not a success. I tried to identify a solid one, but there isn't other that game engine. Rest is OK.

Maybe the OP needs to turn off the "streaming game data during play" box.

  • rygar218rygar218 Member UncommonPosts: 332

OP clearly there is something wrong with your machine. You should probably try and trouble shoot and have it looked at and fixed. Don't even know what your talkin about with the engine lagging cause when I played it back in the full rvr days I didn't lag at all even with full spell graphics on and tons of people running around during seige battles.'

So my advice time to clean out your comp.

Must not be very high end, or completely bogged down with malware.

I run the game maxed settings on a 500$ walmart comp and I get rocket fast framerates everywhere, regardless of the number of players onscreen.

So yes, it is your computer that is the problem.

Well your Good computer is worse than my  amd 64 X2 3800+ , 2 gig ram with a midrange graphics card, its runs smooth on mine with a bit of lag in HUGELY populated areas, but nothing that makes it unplayable.

So your good computer needs an upgrade or you need a better internet connection, perhaps get of 14.4k dial up, or even turn off all that porn you are downloading while playing.

Or perhaps are posted your just a Troll and you really don't have a point you just don't like the game or are bad at playing it so have to bash it.

Game runs fine on my E8400, 4gig's of Ram, and a GTX 260 core. You have some kind of issue with your PC, and it's quite sad that you won't omit it. I'm the furthest thing from a War fan boy also, and know your full of shit.

As another poster said, it could be the streaming data bogging down your internet connection... or simply a driver problem. Next time you want to talk shit about Warhammer, just go all out and just say the game sucks... without giving a shit excuse why. Cause apparently it's to damn hard for you to think there could be a issue on your end >.>

Was this one year ago, I and pretty much everyone could agree the performance could be way better. Mythic, and how much i careless about them... made some nice big strides in improving the performance of the game since then.

People that have played this game know that even with a high uber computer that lag during sieges and large scale battles you lag really bad. it isnt the game engine that ruined the game it was crafting, Themeparkishness, and limited things to do.

(BBBBBBBBBWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH fires plunger at Mythic for ruining the Warhammer fantasy OP.)

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.

I won't lie, there is some lag, but by no means does it make the game unplayable.

Either you have an extremely old computer, your not telling the truth, your computer is cluttered up with malicious software, you didn't like the game so you want it to fail, or you never even played the game and your being one of those people who hate on every game that you don't play.

A year ago yes, and i can blame that mainly on fort's. But since then they have removed fort's, and improved the performance. People just need to pull their head's out of their ass.

Look forward to the Warhammer 40k MMO by THQ, then. They will be doing a much better job.

The trial is indicative of the sort of performance you'll see in the game later on. Running around with a few pug warbands is one thing, but taking part in a keep siege in t4 with around a hundred players AOEing and massed around each other in a tight space is another. There's a reason the game's been plagued with crashing problems since launch. It's defintely a lot better than it was a year ago, but you gotta be pretty insecure to say the game runs at 100fps is the norm. Get a job, tell your mommy to increase your allowance, or do whatever it takes to buy the game and see for yourself how the game really runs.

I played WAR with Athlon 64 2500+, a crap (i.e. the cheapest available) motherboard, 2 GB DRR2, ATi Radeon 3870, Win XP with 30 fps in High Performance till the end of the last year. I upgraded my rig in January to an Athlon 64 Phenom II 4x 925, Gigabyte mb, 4 GB DDR3, same vga, Win 7 – it's running with 80-100 fps now, even in extremely crowded places have 40-50, in "Ooh, shiny!" settings (with "party only" buffs though), and 4x AA, 8x AF (from driver).

So, there is nothing wrong with the engine performance-wise.

Is the OP on a wireless?

What type internet connection? Antivirus running?

I found out different MMO's handle connections different. Some are much more sensitive to bad ping.

I was wireless and played Guild Wars, and SWG. Was not perfect, but both played ok. Age of Conan played horrible. Much freezing and rubberbanding. I thought it was the game for a time. Then I plugged in (wired to router). All games improved especially Age of Conan. I will never use a wireless (if possible) for a gaming rig.

Wired will always be better preforming then wireless. Even for mouse and controllers.

Wow you guys are jumping all over the OP.   Has the engine improved? Yes. Does it still suck? Yes. It is a recycled DAoC engine, and Mythic should have known better. Sure I can get high framerates too but riddle me this, all you people who say the game runs "fine":

Fly into Altdorf and make your character walk to the main bank area, then the mailbox to the left of that and then finally through the door nearby into the auction house. If you say you can do all of that without any quick pauses, chops or stutters, you are lying, especially walking from the mailbox into the auction house.

Well he's a big fat trampoline with such an inflammatory title and post, especially when he has little to back it up and his credibility is in question. What do you expect us to do? We gave him good advice (make sure your computer is up to date, clean it out and stop downloading porn, etc).
