Probably only to executives and stock holders.

But none of those people are around here so no worries.

    No. No it doesn't.

Not only that, I think the OP is basically a troll post anyway. It's getting very old.

It's obvious on the G4TV MMO Report that she is paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is never an accurate accounting of what someone said. It's not like it's an actual INTERVIEW where we can actually SEE what Mike Morhaime himself said.

To me, it basically sounds like 70% of trial players never upgrade. Uhm....big deal. It's probably the same with EVERY MMO.

MY interpretation of this is that.....

70% of trials never upgrade, but 30% do, therefore....the number of people QUITTING WoW is equal to the 30% number of "new" subs, which is keeping the game at a steady level of population since 2008. It only takes a bit of common sense to understand that.

My point wasn't to troll Wow, I don't play the game or have anything against the people who do. My point was that the ceo of blizzard either worded his words wrong, 1. It is the truth, 2. Or that g4 misquoted him, 3. I am kind of a sceptic of the numbers they claim to have, so this was a legit thread to me. To me, it does not sound like they meant to paraphrase him in this statement. It sounded like a quote from him. IMO there is either some truth to this, or g4 screwed up in the way they quoted the ceo of blizzard.

    lol, probably enjoying their lives.
Most likely a friend was bragging about it or they saw the hype and decided to try it. Most people would never play an mmo becaues quite frankly most people aren't crazy like us and would spend the time grinding and doing what most likely would be considered sub par gameplay.
If you really look at what we do in mmo's it seems kind of insane.
We are either OCD or just like chatting at our computers. And yet... here we are!

Or even more likely the vast majority are gold sellers.

Do you think the people sitting in Orgrimmar constantly spamming for a gold selling site in /say is on a pay account?

Do you think the people that create a bunch of level 1s to go to Org and die and have the bodies spell a gold selling website are on a pay account?

The reason the transfer rate is so low is probably because only 30% of people on trial accounts are real people and not gold sellers making a billion free trial accounts.

Its like Blizzard didnt think about this themselves when they released these "30% of trial accounts" and "dont make it past level 10" blurbs. People like the OP will take a little information and twist it.

They don't include trial account in their subscription number.  so I don't think the 70% theory matter.

But to me those numbers shows that the majority of the people that played it didn't like it

to me those numbers show that the majority of the people that played it couldnt pay for it comes the p2p stage.

only god knows how many of those 70% were 13yo kids that ended their trial crying because mommy and daddy wouldnt hand them their cc...

They can't lie in their financial report.  They are a public company, they can't lie to their investor.

Only thing you can question is about how they count subscription for people playing by the minutes in Asia.

For example if I'm an Asian player with 100 points(20 hours) game time.  And I pay by the hour.  But I stopped playing but still have my game points. <== Am I still counting as a subcriber?  I don't know about the answer but it's questionable.  So I think their asian subscriber number is a bit misleading.

Anyway, I'm sure they dont' lie about the number.

The asian subscription number might be misleading though.  For Asian player who pay by the hour, have game points, but quit playing, I think they include them in the subscription number untill their game point expire.  ( I think )

But you know the good 3~4 million(is the number correct??) US and europe player is as if.

I do not see how what you quoted would condemn anyone as a "liar." But i guess blizzard is just out to get everyone right? They lie about everything and hypnotize asians to play their games to bump their subs.Either that, or a bunch of people mindlessly bash the game with anything they can.

Like said before, obviously the number they have now is the 30% retention. I really doubt only 11.5 million have tried the game, and it's even outlined when they release sub numbers that trials do not count.

Just get over it, it's just a number.

i made 500,0000,00000 million € with my homemade mmorpg which have 5000,0000,00000,00000,000 subs

Just get over it, it's just a number.

And you're not part of a multi billion dollar company that has to legally report factual information to stockholders, or else face stiff fines.

Can the numbers be massaged to an extent? Sure. Since chinese subs are largely based on pay by the hour, I doubt any of them are ever actually inactive. It's legally factual that they still retain those subs, even if nobody can use them at the moment. Is it a somewhat sleezy tactic? Sure.

Ya but that's not a financial report.

Not likely Blizzard lie about "little thing" such as subscription number in financial report.  Punishment is too survere.

Only time company lie in financial report is when CEO try to steal money from the company.

I was just saying it was insane how many people have tried the game.  Gaming in general has come a long way, I remember even in the 90's it wasn't as widely excepted let alone MMO's.  But yeah I agree a lot of people probably still think that were crazy, playing some character in a virtual world. They probably think its a waste of time putting all that effort into a game.

Like I stated before, I could give a shit less about this issue. I just was stirring the shit, and I can really see the ones backing Wow now. Delusion is a very common thing in the world. I hope the best for you sir, I heard some hypnotherapists are working on the delusional attachment to world of warcraft.
