Thinking about resubbing - player base?

 Hello!

I have an MMO review/gameplay channel on youtube and I was thinking about resubbing to WAR so I can do a review of it. I played when the game was first released and just made it to T3 and I really enjoyed the game.

My biggest problem with this game was always the player base, I felt a sense of being alone while playing this game. Can someone who is currently playing this game, or has recently played this game, tell me what the state of the player base is?

That's all I really want to know, thank you!

I just resubbed and the population is very good.  T1 is, of course, very active and I never have any trouble getting into some open RvR action or scenarios.  T2 open RvR is also very active.  No matter what time of day it seems that there is always at least one warband going.  T2 scenarios dont start up quite as often as T1, but they start up often enough.  T3 is kind of dead until later at night when more people are on.  While it's going there are normally 1-3 warbands. I cannot comment on T4 as I don't have a character that level yet.

I would definitely say that it is worth resubbing

I don't get the impression he was talking about alone in the sense of not seeing people, but rather in the way the game played out? PQ's kind of had the reverse effect of bringing people together and kind of made people do group content without actually socializing. (for instance)

If he played when he says he did overall pop can not really have been the issue, and now certainly won't feel more crowded than a server back then (especially T3).

Or at least that's how it sounded to me

Can always take the endless free trial for a bit of T1 Nordenwatch fun, see how you feel.

Two largest servers are Badlands and Iron Rock, my Order is on Badlands and Destro is on Iron Rock. Welcome back!

The population spread amongst the 4 servers make em feel lively, especially during prime-time hours. T3 is the only iffy spot, it's stuck in no man's land with majority of the population being in T4 and Land of the Dead, and then T1/T2. But you'll find action there, but as someone mentioned.. it's more so during prime-time hours though. Most people would just rather powerlvl themselves in Land of the Dead... once they hit 25 for the bolster... which pretty much sucks. Though Land of the Dead is only open for so long, before the other sides takes control of it.. and purges the enemy out.

lol 2 largest servers lol--- there are only 4---this game has been going downhill in a Ferrari--- population is not even close to what it used to be --- for the most part only the diehard fans are left,so of course they are going to tell you the game is good.

Majority of the game is dead --- t4 is the most populated which its supposed to be, but warhammer isnt bringing in alot of new players so most of the other teirs are dead unless people are leveling alts.

They had to dumb down the so called endgame content cuz the population just isnt there anymore to play the so called end game like it was supposed to be played. So they had to make it playable with half the amount of people it was supposed to be played with.

One good thing tho there was a patch awhile ago that really improved the performance of the game whem large numbers of people are around. Thats the one improvment i could think of

Waste of 15 bucks imo to just do a review. Soon as another big name mmo comes out that has a good pvp base to it, could mean the death of WAR. Cuz AION almost killed WAR but once people realized it sucked some came back, but it has never been the same.

I decided to come back to WAR 2 weeks ago.

A lot of people say T3 is dead and you will not find a lot of people, but i can only say that's not right for Volkmar.

I am able to play every night oRVR with at least 2 Warbands in T3.

SO i would say it is worth to give it another try.

I resubbed, started a Witch Elf on Badlands, have leveled EXCLUSIVELY in Open RVR and have made it to 31 so far. There is always something going on every night in the RvR lakes.

To be fair, I did roll an order on Volkmar, and while I've leveled in RvR only, it does seem less active on that server.

People who talking  WAR is dead probably not playing game.

WAR is great mmorpg with nice community, this game  living  on EU servers, all tiers are to much active.

WAR isn't dead, however it's in moribund state.

WAR is a mediocre mmorpg with anti-socialized community, this game is doing so-so on EU servers, T1 is the only really active; thanks to trial players, especially at weekends.

There's 5 EU servers left of which only Karag Azgal (Dron sometimes) reaches more than med/med population for any longer time, even that happens less and less often. They hardly "ever" peaked to high at prime time. Fans claiming in /advice chat there's a lot of players around bla bla... are just arrogant irrational... While it may be enough for you to find like 50 zerglings in rvr lake, while ALL PQs are more or less deserted constantly it might wont be enough for EA keeping the servers online on long term for 50-100k worldwide players.

btw, im playing WAR since day zero

You obviously don´t know what you´re talking about :)

I made a free endless trial just about two weeks ago and between 16.00 - 0.00 (the only times i´ve played) the population on almost all of the servers were med/med or higher. So unless the population drastically went down in just two weeks your post is very wrong. To be honest I´ve seen a thread on war-europe forums talking about that the population of WAR in EU has been climbing in 2010.

I'd post proof of WAR's EU population. That would lead into nothing else but biased moderator deleting my post again following with ban. As had happened before...

    Enjoy your crowded servers.

It would be really interesting if you were allowed to post any valid proof about population of any game. It's not because you were banned, but 'cause you have no such proof unless you work for EA (or another company) – and in that case your last problem would be a ban ;)

The fact is that from 18 PM to 23 PM (CET) and probably beyond Karak-Azgal-EU is on High/Med-Med to High-High (Ord-Destr, respectively). These are my usual gaming hours, so this is my experience. (Considering that Vietnam is far from Europe, prolly your gaming hours are a bit, well, unusual from a European perspective, anyway...)

Anybody who says WAR is dead isn't playing the game.  The population is fine, across all tiers, on the Badlands server where I play.  I hear the other three servers are doing fine as well.

Tier 3 seems to be the most sparsely populated tier and I still ave no issues getting scenarios to pop in that tier.

Play the game and check it out for yourself.  There's an endless free trial. :)

Im thinking of trying it again. I played with a friend and when he quit i gradually gave it up as well.  I think the Dwarf race (which im partial to) is portrayed the best in this game of any ive played.

Karak Azgal & Karak Norn(english speak servers) are high active servers in all tiers & all day.I know this because, during works days I playing game after my work,it is a midnight time.Community is nice friendly.Really I cant understand people who sh$%&ing at WAR without playing this game & talking some stupidity. For last 13 month,(my playing time) I can only say WAR progressing  positive.

what drove me away was the fact one could reach max rank in RvR by doing pve alone without doing any actual PvP , the idiotic endgame and the horrible lag in T4. Has that changed? Oh and my server (Elthation) is gone

  • drazzahdrazzah Member UncommonPosts: 437

Yes all has been changed. 90% of this game is all RvR Based now, some PvE, but not like you said. There are only 4 server, and i personally never lag in T4 now, unless its a server-wide problem which is rare now. They are SLOWLY refining the game. It has gotten a lot better.

It seems both AoC and DDO are more popular than WAR didn't think that was possible:

    Hi

  • BlackWatchBlackWatch Member UncommonPosts: 972

Tier 1 and Tier 4 are 'active'.

Tier 1 was active nearly 24/7, imho.

Tier 4 was only active (in spots) during certain windows of the day.

Tiers 2 and 3 were pretty dead.  I found 1 group to run with for a few hours the other day in tier 2 on the server(s) that I'm on.

Again, this is my experience and my observation alone.

T1 and T4 are by far the most populated, in between not so much but you should have no problem finding a WB or 2 every day in T2 and T3. Always WBs in T1 and T4

And i would assume DDO is more populated because its a f2p mmo.

Yeah, and SIlkroad Online and Cabal Online are more popular (?) than almost anything else... which means (?) these games are only a bit worse (?) than WoW or Aion, but Silkroad is way better (?) than EvE, LotRO, and STO etc. :)

You know, "facts" never talk for themselves :) (Even if we consider Xfire's statistics as facts. Not me, but at least these are numbers of a sort, definitely.)
