I just started Darkfall using there new 1 dollar trial and I have to say it is awesome. It's an FPS MMORPG with full loot. It's sort of like Eve but you don't have to basically skillup offline for 6 months before you can start really playing (although it does take about a month apparently to be pvp competative). Plus no afk waiting through warpgates and the combat is action packed.
I haven't had this much excitement over a new game since I started my first one, ffxi, way back in 2001. If you're looking for some new MMORPG to try that's really different, this is the one for you.

. Most people that talk bad about the game only played for 2 hours at launch or have never played and go by what they hear. Everyone I talk to now that tries the game usually loves it and I'm glad you enjoy it. It's really a different MMO and if you're tired of the WoW clones I would definitely suggest DF.
I have been playing Darkfall for 11 months now and I agree its the best MMO I have ever played.
I love the 1st person view, FPS style combat, Morrowind feel both in design and exploration, crafting engine that requires some items to be made from materials dropped from mob spawns, player crafted cities, boats and military items, no questing dependency for character development, no classes and skills progression based on use, huge battles possible.
These are a few items I can think of as to why i love the game
oh and no chat bubbles, no name hovers over characters from far away. Its literally sometimes hard to tell from a PvE mob, friend or foe and that is how it should be.

You know what though? For a lot of people, myself included, they're shocked at how fun Darkfall is because we've been conditioned with theme park MMO's with little depth. The excitement you see from people is real and we haven't felt this way about a game for a long time.
Darkfall isn't for everyone but for those that like sandbox games, it's very refreshing.

I kinda of agree but do you know why they lost me as a custumer its super trivial, but one they actualling have something called ganking skills, its sounds like some little dum ass tennager came up with that name.
2nd I really dont like how there are these holographic names of guilds that circle around player cities, I think it should be a banner or something that fits in the genre.
3rd I am in an Alfos city, there the evil dark elves and there is a nice big welcome sign come one.
4th, I like nameing poliies, characters names adolf stalin, hard rape, 22fjasf, etc always turn me off especialy in a fantasy setting.
5th cant build my own house have to pve for it.
all trivial mind you because the came is cool otherwise. but I find its the little things that over time piss me off.
What MMO do you play?
Were ruling cland get banners in citys, were no floating nean nametags and only real fantasy names, and you can build your house anywere you want???

The real root thing here is that you clearly have other options for gaming that are more attractive to you. If you didnt you wouldnt not have cared much for the trival. That is the root cause here.

not really those issues are like paper cuts annoying as hell. the holographic thing realy bugs its like I am in this cool ass medieval world then bam I am in startrek
This is a fantasy game...ever just chalk it up to...magic??
Once you get to the real meat of the game, you'll rarely be anywhere near an NPC city anyway.

This is not Lord of the rings, this is just using a "fantasy" setting. This is actually just the imagination of the developers, their own dream world that can be what ever they want it to be. if it bugs you then whatever, you will always be able to find something that bugs you about a game if you look hard enough.. but what is the point?
Darkfall is a great game and it is getting better all the time. if you don't like it then fine, move along.
You're right, those are ridiculously trivial reasons to not like a game.
