Where do you find these non-repetative games?

Hey I'm a long time gamer and I was just wondering....where are these non repetative games? Everyone hates this game or that game because its repetative....yet they play WoW. Are you serious? I played WoW for quite some time and had to leave due to the repition of that game. Every dungeon looks the same, just a different name and different mobs/boss. Now I'm not here to bash on any games, just wondering how people come up with these reasons as to why a game is so horrible, especially since most of their play time is tops 1hr.

All mmos are repetitive. You want an exciting ride, as a little something on the side? I recommend a good single player game.

If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

    All mmos have repetitive gameplay.

They're designed like that to keep players paying monthly or to make them sink money into a shop.

When people complain about repetition its not the act of doing something over and over that bothers them.

It's doing something over and over that they don't find fun.

    Basically.

Mmo players are a fickle bunch.

I think a lot of us have been spoiled with that "First time mmo experience" so we just bitch constantly wanting that to return. Even though it never will.

The only ones that seem non-repetative to me are the ones with lots of PvP play. Eve-Online is a good example of this.

amen brother amen....I just get a little dissapointed with gamers ingeneral lately...it seems the majority of gamers are lookin for graphics and pvp over gameplay and storyline. I always thought that rpgs were immersive worlds were the story was supposed to captive and entrance you, not who can "pwn the most n00bs"

Depends on what you do in game. Missions, mining, hauling, Probing, killing sleepers, ratting, gate camping, Roaming the same systems every day, FW can all be extremely repetitive.

Only good thing is that eve has way more options so you can switch it up all with one character.

Most sandboxish and high quality mmos (AAA games) are like that.

It's not just MMORPGs all games at their heart are repetitious. What you are repetitively is practically how game genre's are defined.Multi-genre games are perhaps less so and some things are more fun to do repetitively e.g shooting guns at things in FPS games. What separates good games from bad is how the game varies the scenarios in which you are doing these things and how much fun they make doing it e.g shooting the same enemy over and over with a shotgun on the same map for the whole game would not of netted Doom a good score back in the day.

    I agree.

This is why i've been sticking to more open ended mmos lately. Don't get me wrong I have no issue with a nice linear game but the amount of options you have in these games keeps the game fresh where a more linear experience would bore me to tears in a couple weeks.

As an example I was playing Ryzom last night and I got tired of tanking for my friends so I decided to load up the scenario creation system and make a quest hub for them to mess with. I mean how fucking crazy is that?  One second im a tank, then a mage, then a healer, then  im a trader and then im building and creating my own Rp events, then im competing in a player created arena event.

It helps that these games give you the options.

I just wish that people would stop using such open ended answers when describing their experiences with a game. Its hard to get a good idea of wether or not I should waste my time downloading it if all the responses to it are one word and open.

Well if your looking for a couple games to Try Eve and Ryzom would be safe bets. Both games have multiple gameplay options.

Wanna basically play a space opera that feels like a Sci-fi life simulation play Eve, wanna join a game with a true living breathing world where everything constantly changes like mob spawns, boss roams, reasources, seasons and mob behavior check out Ryzom.

I would go into detail but then i would be totally derailing your thread bro.

Both games give you access to 21 day trials and arent massive downloads.

OP, Dragon Age Origins or Fallout 3 are games you might be interested in.

MMOs have simple content because there are many people using the same features.  You are part of the Massive bunch of players in an MMO, not a unique individual.

What do you get out of MMOs?  Interaction with other players.  Join a guild.  To expect individual attention for something designed for thousands if not millions is wishful thinking.

I think you missed my point entirely...I've been playing mmos for quite sometime and i love the genre, i just get tired of people using words like repetative to describe a game when they've only given the game about an hour try then disregaurd it as "just another (whatever game inserted here)" I know that all mmos are basically the same thing, I just wish that the majority of other players would get off the high horse they've been riding and give these games a chance. I've played some good games and believe me i've played my fair share of games that were just crap. But to use the word repetative is ridiculous.

I can't think of one MMO, that I've played anyway, that hasn't had repetitive gameplay. It's the nature of the genre.
