I really want to like this game.....

Well, I have been playing Allods since the new launch and I really want to like this game, but everything that is going on at GPotato is leaving a bad taste in my mouth....

Why I Like it:

1: It is a clone: LOL

Look, me and my gf have played WOW for years and I cant get her to play anything else with me. Having said that, she instantly liked Allods because it was completely similar to her experience in WOW. She is not a heavy leveller and likes to run through the first 20 levels over and over again with each class and Allods gives her something to do til she waits for Cataclysm to come out so we can play that together.

2. Leveling is slow

Yes, you sail past the first few levels in the tutorial, but then you have to grind each level after that. Is this grind as bad as Eastern games??

No,

Is it as bad as people say it is??

Not really. If you develop an ALT, you can take advantage of the fatigue and go up a few levels each day. Plus, there are only 40 levels to go up and I rached close to 20 in over a week,,that means i'm halfway done with levels, so it is not as fast.

3. Combat is slow.

Maybe for those around 5th level and especially for healers, but around level 10, it levels out and psionicists who set up the mental link and their chain of DOT ablities can almost one shot most mobs later on. It all depends on which class you play.

4. The graphics.

I love steampunk. I like the overall socialist aspect of the Empire side and really am not into the furry friendliness of the League side.

So far, I have really enjoyed this game and am disappointed in the arrogance of GPotato.

What I don't like.

1. Six bucks for 6 extra bag slots.

WTF???? How is this a reasonable fix. I can go get all the frostweaving mammoth making monster bags in WOW to carry a plethera of crap. Can we have several spots for these bags??

I can't complete the bag quest becuase the bank (another joke) won't let me deposit the items I already grinded on for hours. Plus each damn quest now has one or two items you need to complete it, plus my crafting tools are taking up space and all those potions I have to get just have xtra bag space.

So now I am spending too much time going back to a town still filled with immense lag in Yasker Tower to be bombarded by Gold Spammers and the typically daily arguments over which game is better and I can't even see when someone in my guild has said anytihing in chat because the chat logg is sooooo clogged.

2. Now I am going to have to deal with War Banners and perfumes

I fear the Holy Lands..I hear nothing but horror stories from these zones where you are constantly being ganked left and right by corpse campers with tons of war banners. Even if I could afford perfumes and all the myrhh necessary for survival, how can I ever save up to afford my own ship and will it even be worth it in the end.

In the end, Allods Online held so much hope, so much promise, but I can't justify continuing to play with the current state of affairs and the dreaded Russian patches coming.

R.I.P Allods, I'm gonna go enjoy my free month of Fallen Earth.

Hay, when you first found out it was a Free-to-Play  game with a cash shop you should have moved on.  For the life of me I can't see why you guys bang your heads against the wall like you do !

    1) It plays like WoW, so what it's free to play.

    2) It's a well built game, so what it's it's a free to play.

    3) Graphics are nice, and it plays on my computer well, so what it's a free to play.

It's a shame, for a free MMO is has a good base.  But they just ruined it with silly stuff.

I'm enjoying it.  Been playing for two weeks now, got two characters to level 13 (I dont play that much a day).  So what if it plays like WoW? Its free, so I dont have to worry about that nagging feeling that I should be playing every waking moment to get my money's worth (maybe im the only one that gets that from MMO's?).  Game actually reminds me more of Warhammer what with the semi-public quests (rep quests) and level 40 being the max.

You guys scare me away when you say it plays like WoW. Do you mean it puts you to sleep? That's what the leveling in WoW did to me. Explain to me how it plays like WoW, as I found WoW PvE to be a complete bore.

Its f2p you shouldnt listen to anybody, dl and play it, decide for yourself. I personally like this game, its the furthest I have ever gotten in a f2p game. IMO its better than any of the recent p2p games released.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Free to Play aspect doesn't scare me, its a very polished playable game, although there are some aspects which need to be changed
