The human brain is a weird thing

So, this should be an interesting thread.

So, first I'll talk about the pain thing related to the human brain. You know how there are pressure points on your body? Well the other day my dad pushed the pressure point somewhere on my shoulder. It hurt like heck. He then told me to tell myself that it won't hurt. He did it again, and there wasn't a hint of pain...even though just shortly before it hurt a lot. So telling my brain it won't hurt, actually made it not hurt.

I found that really weird.

Another thing is. When I visit my family in England (UK), they have really small bowls compared to the bowls I have at home. I have Costco bowls that are three times the size of the ones my family uses in England. The strange thing is, even though I fill up the English bowls a lot less...I get full a lot quicker. But, give me a costco bowl that I use at home, I fill it up WAY more than I would if I was in England...but I'm able to eat a lot more before getting full. Hope that made sense, its 6:30 am and I'm tired as heck...so hopefully I explained that well enough

And it doesn't have anything to do with how hungry or not hungry I am either. I can be as hungry in England as I get at home, and still eat less in the smaller bowls than at home. But give me a large bowl, I eat more.

Anything you found weird like this with your body or relating to how the brain works?

Row, row, row your mouse, gently across the screen. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

    About the bowls....

I attribute that probably more to not "wanting" to eat as much as you regularlly do, because you are not at "home".  When I go on vacation, I find that even though I feel hungry as hell and order a TON of food, I can't seem to eat near as much as I can when I'm at home and order some takeout from Outback or something.

    But who knows. :)

Your brain uses 20% of your body's energy, but it makes up only 2% of your body's weight. That's really amazing isn't it?
