So basically my friend and I are one of our few friends here left over spring break. I'll list the games I've played and what we're looking for.
I've played: Vanguard(at release), FFXI(still subbed after 5 1/2 years), WoW, EQ1&2, LoTRO, SWG (pre/post changes), AoC, Aion, WAR, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2.
Tried: EVE/CoX/ and a few crappy free MMO's.
My friend has played mostly just WoW and CoV.
He wants something that doesn't involve fantasy (i.e elves, gnomes etc). He likes the landscape and idea of fallen earth but found it boring. Personally I don't care if there's fantasy element as long as it's a good game.
I want something that isn't way too graphically demanding. My PC is getting up there in years, I can run WoW on super high (who can't), but I had to play a game like AoC on medium dx9.
Looking for a decent sized community.
Party play would be welcomed.
As fee's go I wouldn't mind paying but he doesn't want to. As F2P MMOs have always let me down I dont really have the best feelings toward them. A game with a free trial would be okay.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Well the first game that come to mind is Global Agenda. I've read mixed responses concerning that game. There is no trial that I'm aware of since it's a fairly new release. You mentioned that your friend didn't want a fantasy based MMO. Unfortunately, this narrows your choices down considerably. Sounds like your friend would be most interested in a Fallout type of game. A game I tried recently with a friend of mine is Borderlands. It's not an MMO, but you and your friend may find enjoyment in it nonetheless. Best of luck to the both of you.

Fantasy based isn't so much of a problem, just not a top choice for him.
as F2P the only real choice is Guild Wars. it is fantasy, but it's hands down the best f2p to date.
If you are willing to pay then the only one you dont seem to have tried is Darkfall. Be warned it's a brutal full loot, huge open world, fps style combat, sand boxy fantsy mmo but as long as you are prepared for that it is very fun. DF has a 1$ trial aveilable right now.
i have to say that Fallen Eath is probably the best non fantasy mmo out there right now, and even though it does start a bit slow (especially pvp wise) i'v herd it gets better the higher you get. the only other good one is Eve of course which you have tried.
F2P
S.U.N , its big a party game looks nice and ez to jump in and play
Aika , its new "wont open for 1 more day" so you wont be behind and its a pvp base party game
P2P
AoC is the only one that pops into my mind its a big azz client like 40+gig but its a ez run on med for lower end units and im sure the 10 day free trial is still going
If you want F2P then DDO is your best option. Its fantasy but the Eberron setting is very different from the standard high fantasy.
Its also perfect for playing in a small group.
Global Agenda seems good aswell but its Buy2play.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
Ryzom is worth to try
Generation P
hes looking for a MMO not a RPG nice out of place plug tho
If fantasy is an option, then Runes of Magic is hard to beat. It's free to play and doesn't require any money to get a long way. It also is fun and gets deeper the more you get into it. Graphics are WoW-like, but combined with the music, it's a very immersive and beautiful world. The dual-class system allows for a lot of character variation. I highly recommend it!
Dude is someone paying you to add for DDO ??
1 ever person youve dropped the DDO bomb on has asked for a MMO DDO is not MMO its Pure RPG
2 its not free "ill happy add to your posts DDO hosts 40 some maps for those 40 some F2P persons can enter 6 " DDO offers a free unlimited trial of 6 set unchanging maps
Champions Online would be a great choice. A lot of the fun is front-loaded so that you can get to it quickly during Spring Break, of course there is the character customization in the beginning, and then you get a travel power at level 5 (instead of level 14 in CoH/CoV), and you can access top tier powers at level 14 (instead of level 32 in CoH/CoV), so you won't be stuck grinding all break just to create the character that you want to play.
There is a free trial, but that itself is too short (45 minutes). Fortunately you can get a referral key (just check out the official forums), and that will give you access to all the tutorial zones and let you get to level 15 (8-12 hours). Beyond that, the game is only $15 with the first month included.
Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.
Yeah I'm gona look into S.U.N and a few other of the games listed, so thank you. I did play AoC, I really enjoyed it actually. The only problem I had was with the graphics, my computer couldn't handle how the game "can" look and it was beautiful.
Also, DDO is... not for me, I'm sorry I tried that game before and found nothing fun about it.
