Well, my character has been swimming 12-15 hours per day over the last 5 days with roughly 168 hours remaining until I unlock the 50 stat abilities. I never thought I would play a game and interact with the GM's more than I would players. I speak to a GM 1-3 times daily during my 12-15 hour swim and I have to say they are welcomed conversation. You might be thinking that swimming is against the rules but it is only against the rules if you are not at the keyboard. So what happens is a player will swim next to me and report me which eventually spawns a GM that asks me if I'm at the keyboard and I respond and the GM says have a nice day and this repeats itself a few times daily. While swimming, I report every other swimmer I see as well and eventually the swimmer is kicked from the game because they are AFK swimming and I regain my swimming spot for roughly the next 8+ hours until I log off. I didn't think I would ever be playing a game like this new swimming one I've found but I guess this is the game I'll be playing for roughly the next 168 hours of game time. If you ever cross a bridge in the middle of nowhere and see people swimming and wonder why, now you know.
If you elect to play the swim game I would highly suggest playing another mmo while swimming because it can get dull rather quickly watching your characters head move up and down.

I see what you did there.
rofl between this and your mobs to go until pvp - I'd say you are doing a pretty good job of explaining what DFO is all about - pretty spot on actually.
wow,
I feel really sorry for you. To have a life with so little in it just doesn't seem fair. I hope that one day you find something in life to make it worth living.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not but its been quite accurate to what I've experienced in the game so far. It is sad, but as long as you keep reminding yourself of the PvP you will one day be able to do it can keep you going.
Anyway I don't know how mmoluva does it but his threads usually seem to stir some resent. It will be funny to watch all the posts in this thread that try to deny or twist what he is talking about.
Please refrain from using personal attacks. Play nice .

This is not a personal attack, just an observation.
You know Critt, I am starting to think that you and MMOlova are the same person.
Every time there is one of his pointless threads which by the way repeat always the same concept, you pop around to support him.
We get it in DF there is lots of grind and it will take more than a year to max the basic skills.
And no, you won't be able to compete with the Veterans, ever!! (bye!)
It ain't a secret to anyone, I do not understand why you are making a big fuss about.
It is like claiming that the sky is blue.
Yeah we know it is, what's the big issue?
That's the way Darkfall has been designed, and it won't change, get over it.
And by the way I still like it (and I never swim for longer than 10 minutes by the way for your info), even after reading this pathetic thread, if that makes you feel better.
What about you and your alter ego though, isn't it about time you move on and go play Free Realm or something?
No grind there, I am pretty sure in there both you and the Lova would be able to compete from day one with the Veterans.
It sounds good, doesn't it?

Grind is grind, no matter what game do you play.
Then th
I can tell few issues ,theres people who macroed, cheated, exlpoited and are still playing you know.
Its like they used stereoids and ran new world record for 100 meters ,lets say 5 seconds.
now these new players cant never do that ever.or can they????
stares into mirrorball once again.

Then th
I can understand your viewpoint. With darkfall you either love it or you are very critIcal of it. The same arguments are used on either side. I can name 4-5 people that i could swear are the same person because they all repeat the same things over and over and over. It seems like you think I dislike the game, which is false. I dislike certain aspects of the game but this is true for any game. Unfortunately a lot of people fall victim to the lies that are spread on places like these forums, which is clearly evident by the number of new players that come into the game thinking they can PvP right away, only to be laughed at by everyone in chat.
If I made a post like yours for every thread and post about how darkfall is such a great game and you can PvP without a grind etc.. I'm sure you can imagine the sheer number of posts I would have to make.
I'm having a good time playing Darkfall but production is dictating that I play in this manner until certain game goals are reached. I'm playing the way I am because it is the fastest way to PVP. Swimming 12-15 hours a day has been a nice break from the 5,000+ mobs I've killed in PVE. After my swim is complete I'll regain my enthusiasm to continue my 4,000+ mobs of PVE that remain. After this work is complete I'll hopefully be able to experience this great PVP that has been awaiting my arrival.
If your goal in gaming is to be the best player at any and all cost (including fun) then by all means play like the OP. I am enjoying my time in game grouping with friends roaming the countryside looking for some pvp action. I grind here and there and usually draw attention to myself. I don't really see the reasoning behind the OP. You are describing your post like it is the only way to play the game. You play games to be the best or attempt to. I wonder how much that experience in swimming and killing goblins will fare for you when you don't know how to play the game.
everyone crying about the grind.
seriously guys you can kill (uninterrupted) 100+ npc an hour more or less. if 10,000 npc is the goal that is arround 100 hours of play= 4 solid days and some.
how many days does your WoW main have?
yea exaclty, stop complaining about the grind and just enjoy the game. it's really not that bad, repetitive sure but not insanely grindy.
I never reported people for swimming/ afk swimming. I always swim under them then try raising to the top of the water and it will move the people around that is swimming above you. Its really funny to watch them swim away, eventually they get killed or come back to the keyboard and their characters is at one of the corners of the world. Copperdale used to be one of the best towns to get some laughs in.
I don't see anyone saying "this grind is horrible" or anything along those lines. It sounds like the op found a game within the game which is usually a good thing.
Take a good look through these forums and the official forums and see how many people agree that the game isn't insanely grindy.
The way you have chosen to play this game is understandable. However, for me if I did what you are doing in-game knowing the outcome in advance wouldn't yield an enjoyable experience to me. When I PVP in a game I like to know I will have a chance (not be the best) when PVP presents itself and playing in the manner you have chosen would equal large amounts of unnecessary wasted time.
This is the beauty of a sandbox type game and I am only providing what I do in-game as far as the most productive way to experience competitive PVP, what this game is supposed to be about. I haven't experienced any competitive PVP and I've been playing 7 weeks. I purchased this game thinking I could PVP right away as many others but quickly learned otherwise. Luckily, I enjoy PVE and this game has a lot to offer as far as PVE.
Here is my order of what I hate to see in MMOs:
Gold/Item buying in a sub MMO.
Unattended macroing.
Attended Macroing.
When I see too much of any of those in a game I get fairly unhappy. I prefer to see people actually playing a game, but there will always be those who pay money to have their computer do stuff for them, or pay money to others to have them do the work.
Critters I do not say those thing to everyone who criticise Darkfall (plenty of them, I would not have enough time for it), and I wouldn't have said that to you if you were supporting him so openly (more like a friend or someone you know, than someone you just agree with)
I treasure the right for everyone to criticise what they want.
It just looks to me that you and MMOLova are like a double act, it looks like he ask the right question while you have the right answer prepared well in advance, it s like he is giving you the cue to criticise the game while he will get all the flaming for it.
But of course I might be wrong, just my impression,
And anyway I am replying to you just because you look like the one that can hold a conversation better, so that's a compliment.
Problem with MMOLova is banging on the same concept (too much grind, I won't be able to catch Veterans) for far too long, and it is not the first thread he starts with exactly the same ironic approach to express his feelings.
But worse of all, he is still playing it !!!
He is playing something he doesn't enjoy hoping that thing will change for the better.
They won't!
I do criticise other games too, but I hardly open threads about my hate towards a game and surely I won't open multiple threads stating the same bloody concept, because to me this is just plain baiting, and I am annoyed that moderators didn't picked this up (just check his history will ya?), but they will give a warning for saying that games like STO will kill this genre (yes I am pointing at myself, and no, I didn't open a new thread about that, I was just replying to someone).
/facepalm
It's your choice man...
I've been enjoying myself with DF (despite its flaws, which it does have) from day one and that includes PvP...
It all depends on what you want/expect from a game.
I expect to have fun and that is my goal, regardless of whether I'm the "top dog" or can "hold my on 1v1 against vets". I can have my RP, exploration and drama even if (and maybe exactly because) I'm not "competetive" at the moment. I actually enjoy being at the bottom of the ladder for a while - you get to meet interesting people that way and not a few of the "evil gankers" later turn out to be your in game friends or maybe evil villains to be hunted down later on. Your goal is obviously just to raise stats... so you can be "uber" and wtfpwn people, while the game itself and all the little bits that make it a MMO (including the "unfairness") are not that important. Well, I'm glad you're "working" towards your goal and enjoying yourself - hell, you'll get to meet much more GMs than I ever will! (I get to hang out only with other players, how droll...) Happy swimming!
Darkfall has given you the freedom to do what you do freedom comes with responsibility.
Bore the hell out of you game sessions, no one cares.I am really happy being in a clan that has always something fun or thrilling to do and i am very happy i am not you OP lol

I read through some of the OP's post history, and you seem to be correct. Not only has the OP posted the same point repeatedly in many threads, he has created several threads based on the exact same point. I would tend to believe that one thread would suffice.
Considering how many people get riled up by his posts, I would agree that this appears to be baiting.
OP, I guess the message is, we get it!
Players try and do these types of things to me throughout the day because they are bored. Once they figure out that I'm swimming against them they usually stop.
I love Darkfall, just started a couple weeks ago, but I gotta say the OP made me lol. I'd love to play the swimming game, but I decided I would play the mining game first...

What's your in game name mmoluva?

It's probably a combination of boredom and ADHD. The people that try to bump you out of the water are angry because they know you are advancing your character quicker than they are, and they don't have the attention span to sit in one spot and swim into a wall for 10 hours a day.
For some reason my original post on this topic was deleted and I got a warning for "flaming" even though I was siding with OP so I will try to be careful.
I'm not sure if OP is trolling or not but if not they have an unusual way of enjoying themselves playing a game. That being said, if they are getting everything they want out of it then good on you! DF is "sandbox" so if a player wants to play it like it's a GM Sim then let them. He/she is doing nothing wrong by reporting AFK swimmers. Not to mention boosting stats in the process. In fact Mmoluva should start a Clan just to patrol the waters of Agon to catch AFK'ers.
If Op IS trolling, then shame on us for giving them a free buffet!
EDIT: Do not give your in-game name! Unless you really want to spice up your game!

Ah, but this is not the case at all. You can gain the same stats by mining, logging, or combat. What the OP is doing is wasting time. It would be far more productive to have ore, sulfur, timber, resin, and loot than to simply swim all day.
BUT....it's a sandbox game, and how he/she chooses to play is up to him/her.
Os a side, I usually kill swimmers. The sound annoys me.
