My girlfriend and I played it for a month or two when it launched and then again for a few weeks when the first expansion came out.  Pretty sure both of us will give it another go when Catalyst releases.

Current MMOGs I am playing is Fallen Earth and FFXI.

Used to, but don't play it at all any longer.  Hard to describe, but it just felt too plastic... too commercial.

Since leaving the two best impressions from other games are DDO and Guild Wars.  Both are amazing games in their own styles of play.

Played from beta until BC, then came back a little with Wrath.  Overall I played far longer than I ever expected.  Don't plan on playing again.  Still the best MMO experience I've had.  Might just watch some movies of Cataclysm.  WIth so many great single player games, the next MMO I care about would have to be something really special.  Leveling up or exploring another world that isn't really any different then anything I've already seen isn't enough and I don't have the schedule to get overly involved in a community.  Basically, I think I'm done with MMOs for a while.

I don't mean to be an ol' fuddy duddy stick in the mud here, but....

What is the point of this thread? Haven't we already had about 500 of these threads?  This site REALLY needs another thread where those of us who don't play WoW any more or those that never did, can "show those goofy WoW players" how "uncool" their game of choice is.... (sarcasm)

No. Just no. Why don't we just all play what we enjoy playing and leave people who play other games that we DON'T play (regardless of the reasons) ALONE to just enjoy their game?

    Why?

Do we all need validation from strangers for what we play or don't play THIS badly?  I mean....really?  No offense to the OP, you're entitled to speak your mind, but...is this trend ever going to end around here?

    EDIT:

And by the way....I get suckered into these kinds of threads ALL the damn time. So I am just as guilty as anyone else, but when...when are we going to STOP?  It's like it's become some uncontrollable compulsion for us to post and respond to these types of threads or something....

I was just curious as to how many people on these forums actually do play the most subbed to MMO. I don't care what they play, and I won't tell them they are terrible for liking WoW. Its a good game in its own right. Heck if I keep lagging to hell in Conan trying to PVP.. I may be back myself.

WoW lost most of its attraction for me, except the battlegrounds, which never seem to get boring - which is the reason why I'm still playing it.

I quit after it's initial release only 2 months into it, resubbed a few times since for a month at a time to check out expansions etc, but have now decided to play it solidly for a while, slowly levelling up one of each class/profession in the process casually.

Finding the game quite enjoyable when played at such a casual pace & the mix of professions is making gearing them up from the professions to match their levelling quite a fun process, 9 classes at level 21 after my first 30 days has been a pleasant start, plan to carry on like this till I have a defined favourite class.

Been playing WoW since vanilla, still playing though not all that much these days due to RL taking up most of my time. Planing to be back to full playing by the time Cata is released.

  • raven222raven222 Member Posts: 88

Played it for 3 years or so , then quit . Don't think i will ever go back aggain .

I am currently playing FE , the only game i find interesting enough to play , and just train skills in EVE Online.

Cata will be just another revamp of the same , my goblin warlock or whatever will still be shooting shadowbolts .

They will still be nerfing classes clockwise in each patch and so on , nothing new there move on.

    Of course I play it.

Because it has the best "tight" "responsive" and "fast" avatar controls of any game out there.... with jumping :))

After WOW every other mmorpg feels like playing with an unresponsive, laggy and lame combat mechanic.

I wonder how you all keep it out in those other games even.

Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race.

No I don't play WoW anymore, I may come back for Cat but that is a longshot. It's too bad really because once upon a time the game was fun to play but after making it a simplistic "I want it now" type MMO, the type of crowd that attracts just has made it too unpleasant to play. I got tired of all the imature people who make up the overwhelming population of that game, it's become something of a grade school MMO to me. That's not to say everyone who plays WoW is an idiot but the old saying of "it only takes a few bad apples" applies very well here.

I have been following these boards for a while now and have yet to post so I thought Id start here. I play WoW, been playing WoW on and off for some time since the start of BC. I also play AoC on and off and plan on focusing more time into that game until Cata comes out, or until our guild decides to start running hardmodes in ICC which might or might not happen.

I know, I must be a terrible player because I play WoW, but you know what...I enjoy the game...sorry. Been lucky enough to be apart of a great guild with quality players who get along with other, who enjoy doing hardmodes and trying to be the best we can. I can understand why a lot of people dont like this game, but what I cant understand, is why people think they can talk trash about a game that they themselves admit they didnt even play into the end game, but hey....whatever to each his own, I enjoy the game and thats all I need to know, can't say that for a lot of people on these boards.

We will return for the next expac, our guild planned from the start of 3.3 that after downing the lich king in 25man, we would take a long break from the game to do more RL things with friends and family..and eventually regrp before the expac hits.

    I used to play it:)

At lvl 60 it was all about having fun. Played healer (addon heaven)

At lvl 70 I was trying out raiding. Played Warrior Tank

At lvl 80 i was trying out DPS. Shaman enh/ele

really enjoyed the 1-79 was good fun and really well made lvl 80 and beyond was the worst ive ever been threw in a game, bad content, rude people, unbalanced realms, to easy mode, 1-2 button mode for best dps, that was when i flushed WoW down the toilet with the rest of the sh*te:)

Currently playing bad company 2, lotro and hopefully DAoC again when transfers from EU to US opens.

no I dont play WOW and never played it except for the trial which I only tried for about 20 mins the ugliest graphics I ever seen was what came to mind that time, I am mostly a single player gamer, I tried many games F2P and P2P and they all sucked(my whole mmorpg life is 6 months though), I keep checking out mmos to see if any game breaks the formula, EVE is the only game that comes to mind thats actually fun to play,  my first and honestly best experience with mmos was with silkroad online

I currently play allods online about an hour every other day

Yes I play WoW with my g/f and someone I know.  We quit towards the end of Burning Crusade expansion, spent a year or so in EQ1 and WAR.  We went back to WoW a few months ago, and have been having a great time.  We started a few brand new characters on a different faction, so things have been fresh and awesome for us.  Since we hadn't seen wotlk expansion yet, it was just that much more content for us to play in.

I'm not ashame of playing WoW, why would I?  I used to be a hardcore EQ1 player, also enjoyed lots of other classic old school MMO's.  But I can honestly say since 2005, the only MMO with enough quality content is WoW.  My group tends to play games until we run out of content or stop having fun.  So as long as we're still having fun, and still have things to do, there's no reason for us to move elsewhere.

I figure by the time we finish building our new characters, Cataclysm would be out.  So unless there's an EQ3, DAOC2, or AC3 that's gonna come out soon, I don't see myself leaving for any other games for awhile.

This and I still play WoW.

I tried the other games but they're not as engaging as the WoW world. They're mostly all cosmetics and no substance and got old faster than 'beating' WoW.

Yes, it gets boring after you killed the Lich King and his never -ending phases but it's still the best game for your $$$ if you know what you want. I still don't get people's hostility over WoW and its community. All mmo community are 90% comic e-thugery. WoW is easy enough you can call it the most practical game out there for people who have jobs. It's not the game for uber geeks who like to brag about X-bosskill after a long unhealthy fight. It's more of a game for the hard core and casual players who know how to have fun. The right amount of fun.

Animations need an improvement. Graphics are great for people who're looking for fun colors(who wants to be emo IRL and in-game anyway?) and non-plastic looking characters. They added graphic details since vanilla and now they look crisp. You don't even need a high-end computer to experience the game medium to high graphic settings ^_^.

There are 3 continents and plenty of stuff to do if you break away from the elitist grinds. After raids, I do arena games for points, daily quests for easy gold, battlegrounds for fast PvP action, wintergrasp or northrend world PvP, and sometimes just ride my ground mount while listening to music and do some exploring (which is best done if you're not on your flying mount) while chatting with my friends and my guildies. Breath-taking views one screenshot button away.

I have 5 80 alts with gathering/crafting professions. I play them when I'm bored and to experience a different playstyle or when I want to craft/gather trade items to save gold.

I enjoy WoW and I feel smart spending my money on a game that actually has more future than that next over-hyped WoW 'killer' with all the politician promises.

I STILL WANT MY TROLL HEADHUNTER/AXE-THROWER! DAMN YOU BLIZZARD!!!!! WHY?!!!!!!!!

Nope. Played for a while, but no longer.  Why play a game where your character is tehtered to a coded leash to be pulled through npc-driven content?  I prefer more player-centric sandboxy content and game-play where I have to play the game rather than the game playing me.

Played on launch, and got bored after 1 or 2 weeks.

Got convinced multiple times after to rejoin, but only lasted from 1 hour to 2-3 days before canceling again. I really find that game way too boring to play. If people does like it, good for them, but I do find it way too boring to play.

I cancelled my sub last night, and already thinking I might resub.

Why? Because I'm a busy guy. And, WoW for some reason, is the only game that I've played that has just the right amount of "fun" in just the right amount of time spurts.

It also runs the best, and looks the best overrall (not just talking about the quality of the graphics here. The art design, and the animations are second to none). I didn't play UO because it had the best graphics.

It also has a large variety of casual content. Quests, crafting, pvp, mount collecting, achievements, raids, 5 mans, arena, etc.

I really did want to get back into FFXI.. but I don't like playing games unless I can eventually be at the "top". I don't think I will ever be able to do that in FFXI.

There was a point in time that I played WoW, exclusively to play with a group of friends.   I never liked it much and as soon as my friends moved on, so did I.  I dislike the setting, the mechanics, the genre and especially the community.  Even though I could go play again, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

I have an active WoW subscription, but I pretty much just log on once or twice a week to raid with my guildies - I've kinda run out of other things to do in the game, but I would like to beat the Lich King.

My main game at the moment is Atlantica Online, because its turn-based squad-based combat is finally something different from an endless parade of games with very, very similar mechanics.
