It will be on the ballot and with 54% of california citizens favoring legalization pretty sure it will pass.

They waste a lot of money flying helicopters around trying to find marijuana, and admit they only find maybe 10% or something like that.  That's wasted fuel and Co2 emissions you global warming advocates!

A 100 dollar fine for having less than an ounce? It's practically legal now, might as well drop the stupid 100 dollar fine. You'll make much more in taxes than in 100 dollar fines.

Now i know where to go on holiday...Just joking.

Its a bad idea overall but we all knew that already.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

It would be interesting to see what happens if it is legalized. It might reduce the violence and crimes associated with marijuana but the more addictive drugs are still there. There is still big business for all other stuff, I wonder if it would affect the pricing of stuff like cocain, heroin, etc. Also how would they tax it if much of it starts being home grown? Would people report their earnings to the IRS? Lets see what happens and let the Californians test this out!

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

It's even being discussed because California is dead broke and deep in debt.  If the state didn't get run into the ground, they wouldn't even be thinking about it.  It's too bad, run state into debt, make drugs legal.  Run state into the ground, release prisoners because they can't afford to keep them in there.

I begin to see a pattern here.

Don't forget to give felons the right to vote. You know so they don't feel bad.

Do people go on beer breaks?

Legalizing weed would save this nation billions of dollars. There used to be thousands of hemp farms in the early 19 and 20th century. Lobby groups from the paper mills formed together to get marijuana banned. Just like most things in politics the people with the most money get things done.

More harm than good has come from banning the use and sale of "drugs". Look at all the crime we have related to drugs. Its ridiculous. This should be a regulated industry. Not too mention plain ignorant to use all the resources we use to stop something that causes so much harm if it were regulated. Nothing is being prevented.

Weed is legal where I am. I live in Southern Oregon and all you need is a hurt back to have weed. Which consists of 20,000 people of the 120,000 people in my county hehe.

Most positive resolution for the state and Baja California.  Also should make weed better, instead of it coming from the rectum of an illegal immigrant.

  • MuraisMurais Member UncommonPosts: 1,118

This... really doesn't affect me at all. Or really anyone else besides the government. People who smoke weed will continue to smoke weed, people who don't, won't. And Cali will make a few bucks selling.

Ain't going to bring about utopia, though. Drugs are still crutches for real happiness and self-actualization. But you shouldn't go to jail for self-destruction... that's retarded.

Can't wait to transfer to Cali from Amsterdam ^_^ * But in reality, It will help farmers... ALOT!

  • GrainMasterGrainMaster Member Posts: 5

Wow! this is good! but the thing is you should have a licence to use it... I wonder snoop dogg will be the first in line for this...

  • CleffyCleffy Member RarePosts: 6,413

I think it will hinder farming more then help.  Nearly every piece of usable farming land in California is used.  We are even terra-forming desert into farmland.  The climate makes it an ideal place to grow anything.  If Marijuana was legal, some farmlands will convert to hemp growth for the money in it.  This will bring an overall increase in costs to food sold in California.  The benefit ofcourse is a 1.2 billion decrease in spending holding people for drug related crimes, an overall decrease in demand for Drugs from Mexico that has made Baja California one of the most crime ridden areas in North America, an increased revenue for the state in the form of taxes also estimated around 1 billion, and the most important thing of all Liberty.

God I am glad I left California this year, however what happens in one state could have a domino effect we will see. Also as far as saving california or anything like that simply by legalizing marijuanna thats just stupid in my opinion if the state keeps going the way its going the government is just going to say nice knowing you and cut it off from the US image.

Yeah, well don't come to the UK,your not welcome. Oh and don't go to Holland because you wont like all the coffee shops that sell weed or the local police that stand outside having a chat while you smoke a nice jont right in front of their faces, having a chat.

Surely you could find somwhere in the deep south where you can hide away.

Nonvilonet drug use should be decriminalised across the board.

Because that would rob the private sector of a growing slavewage inmate workforce, and various heavy funded government programs total package of around 100 billion in funding I doubt it will ever happen. Thats not even counting lives lost on both sides, law enforcement and drug users/trafficers/dealers.

The violent crime attached won't go away as long as the violent criminals have drug money funding them. I think you can safely say prohibition dosen't work, and never did.
