My first impulse is a smuggler, then shortly after I'm creating a Jedi Consular...... although, once I get the game in grubby paws, that might change once I start lookin at them all in game. Because of how much I'm lookin forward to this game, it's so hard for me to finalize my choice.
My main will be a smuggler but I'm playing on rolling a jedi knight aswel. It doesn't bother me to much as long as it's OK for groups and it's balanced PvP.
Will do it all! Except maybe the imperial agent. Just seems boring in comparison to jetpacks and lightning but i did say i'd never play the mage in dragonage and well....i'm now addicted to the blue vials.
Longing for Skyrim, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3
Personaly i prefer Trooper in this game because All the Jedi's and sith do is stand infront of each other doing moves like slash and stuff and we all know that in the movies and other games that is not what Jedi's and siths do. They jump around like dancers. They do alot of twirls and moving forward while attacking but in this game they don't do that. It is practicly thisame thing as being the warrior type class in a fantasy sword fighting and arrow game. Troopers are rangers jedis are warriors so are sith. So i would prefer being at a long distance owning some jedis and siths trying to run towards me to attack me. While iam taking cover i can still shoot at them. I know they can't force jump to me cos i can just run.and they need to be close to me to do some real damage apart from the force wich they can't do all the time. I could just blow them up with a few rockets and laser. While they try to regenerate their force and energy. Now who looks like the better profession Generaly?

Your assuming they can't get into range quick, use the force to stop you from moving, or throw their lightsabers at you. Expect it! Be ready for it. I know I will lol.

blowing stuff up with a granade luncher or requesting airsupport OR jump around with a big red toothpick, meleing like every other "fantasy" mmo, just with weird sound effects... I dont really think i need to choose, sence its obvious what im not going to play if i want something different
Im going to play Consular, because I played it in both KOTOR games, and I just love destroying enemies with only the power of thought (and Force ). But Im going to try smuggler / trooper as well, and if we arnt going to be limited to only one side, i will try the Agent (looks like Infiltrator from ME, me like...).

In one of the gameplay videos I think I recall seeing a skill that allows jedi to get up close fast.
I like stealth combat, so I'm most interested in the Imperial Agent and perhaps the Smuggler. Almost all the classes sound interesting to me, although I'm having problems seeing why I would want to be a Jedi Knight over a Consular, or a Sith Warrior over an Inquisitor. If I wanted to be a Force user, why wouldn't I want to play a class with less powerful force ability?

Because not everyone is into throwing bolts. Some folks like me just want to grab their saber and rip people apart with it.

Yeah, Jedi Knights and Sith warriors will have Force Jump ability. In the movies, you can for example see Yoda using it to leap into battle with Count Dooku or Darth Sidious...

Sith Warriors get the Force Leap ability. Jedi get something else. It's some kind of gliding on the ground but superfast ability. Looks cooler than the leap IMO.

Force Jump, Force Leap, whatever the name is, it is the same ability as Force Jump in KOTORs (maybe with different animations/bonuses)
