    Blasted, I thought it was supposed to be released March 2010.

    i haven´t heard anything about their beta either. Is it already running?

    Communicate with us people!!!!

     

    anyway I'm really looking forward to this game, I also applied as a beta player, but I never got an answer :'(

    Is there anyone who can confirm this delay? or who can confirm the beta is running? :P

    One can only hope. I just don't see the "hook" to this game that's going to keep folks playing for long periods of time. Don't get me wrong, I think aspects of this game look bad ass.  I guess if they don't ask for a membership fee then we really can't expect it to be some evolving world like other membership MMO's.  If they don't ask for membership, then it's not going to be anything more than GTA4 Online, and will probably cost $60 to buy it to recoup dev costs.  But I find that hard to believe.

    They've been doing podcasts frequently, check the website.

    Looking forward to this one and also in complete agreement that in this day and age extra time is almost always a good thing.

    They been working too much with tattos and car paints, music programs, cloths and forgot about combat. Thats what I think.

    There is no dev house in the world that would want to release a game early, a dev always wants more time.

    It is always the big wigs that want a game released early (to get a return on their investment perhaps)never the dev house. So when or if the pressure comes then they will release what ever the peeps in the dev house want.

    Yea, and seeing as APB is only being published by the EA Partners program (similar to what Valve does with their games) they have free reign over how long it takes them to finish it. It's when you have the publishers having direct control over the game that pre-release becomes an issue.

    I hope they take as much time as they need. I would guess before Christmas more than likely though.

    Crackdown was in development hell for a while, but eventually came out and was an awesome alternative to the standard modern GTA game (plus it came with Halo 3 beta). So far, I like the developers; they're taking their time, they're not hyping the game too much, and they actively put out podcasts and communicate with their fans.

    That this means they'll accept more beta testers, which means more chances for me to get into this game...

    From what I've seen, this game has already claimed a chunk of my wallet, I just want to see the damage for myself...

    oh well i dont agree with you because i am in beta trough fileplanet key and have to say its pretty good combat gameplay tough i would like to do some melee attacks too but the dev said there going to do this after the release

    The combat isn't even close to good FPS games like the HL games, Crysis, CoD4, etc.

    I understand that it's an MMO not an FPS game, but there are MMO games that have decent FPS-style combat as well.  Planetside, TR, and Global Agenda just to name a few.

    APB's combat reminds me exactly of Crime Craft, unfortunately.

    A lot of the other gameplay features are nice, true.  But the main thing you do in the game is shoot things, and in that area, it is severly lacking (in my opinion).

     Global Agenda is a tps and as far as Im concerned it is no where near decent fps style game either

    In what way? I haven't played Crimecraft, so how is the combat bad in that? How could they screw something like that up? Is poorly animated, clunky and unresponsive, lack of weapon variety, what? Hopefully better than an MMO with shooter elements like Fallen Earth at least, right?

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    I may or not have played the beta, but what I can deduce is that the combat is nearly identical to the Grand Theft Auto games. Not great, but certainly fun to do it with 3 people shooting out the windows of the SUV you've stolen >:)

    Well, that's how I was expecting the combat to work like, so that's good to hear, if true.

    GTA4 online is about as random and fun as it can get, and its fun.  The game doesn't need to compare with Modern Camping 2, or Bad Company 2, or Halo 3, or whatever. Besides, last I checked, Half-Life was good cause of its story and physics, not the actual shooting... (Gravity Gun aside). None of those games have matched the senseless fun of me grabbing the rocket launcher and terrorizing my friends from a nearby rooftop, making them scramble for a car before blowing it up just infront of them... :D

    Half-life was a pretty solid shooter, too, all story and innovation aside - but so is GTA4, in its own way.  GTA4 isn't a FPS, though.  Or a "TPS" either - it's more than that, with shooter elements, that are solid enough to support all the vehicular mayhem and everything else.  Comparing it to Half-life or Call of Duty is apples and oranges.  I'd just like to know how the combat in APB (or Crimecraft) compares to GTA4, not FPS, TPS, or even MMOFPS games  like Planetside.

    I just bought the GTA4  xpack pack for the PC (ffs, waited long enough for it...), and I'm loving it.  I just hoping the combat in APB is even half as good...

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
