Estimated Release Date... Dec 13th or 14th!?

KhrymsonKhrymson Member UncommonPosts: 3,090

Per the e-mail from Amazon I received today, they estimate the delivery to my door on Dec 15th, 2010. I also have 1-day shipping selected, so I'm guessing should this be accurate; that Dec 13th which is a Monday may be it. 1-day shipping which will be Tues, and arrival on the 15th!? Unless they count the day it ships as the 1-day shipping, then the release date will be Dec 14th, 2010, which I'm banking on more since its the 14th for the XIVth Final Fantasy!

Hello from Amazon.com.

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on January 30 2010 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx):

"Final Fantasy XIV"

Estimated arrival date: December 15 2010

FFXIV @Amazon says release date of Dec 13th now!

Then here is my original estimation below on the start of Alpha/Beta for FFXIV, which I was correct about so might as well re-post this quote, estimating the launch dates. I'd have to say that I'm pretty dern close once again, should this be accurate info:

As I called it, Beta wouldn't start until after the launch of FFXIII here in the US! This is of course worldwide beta, and its speculated that invites will start being sent out; starting March 1st and over the next week or so after, so start refreshing your email every 10min...hehe! Also everyone that attended Vanafest are the first invites into beta!

I'm curious as to what the OP has to say in light of this discussion we are having now, since Khrymson has made accurate predictions as to the beginning of closed beta. Khrymson, lets see if you can accurately predict Open Beta and/or Release thereof. EDIT: emote inserted.

Well SE has said they'd like to have a 6 month Closed beta, which I believe they can easily achieve. SE has also said they plan to have a very limited Open Beta mainly for server stress testing, which they clearly said we would not be allowed to see any story in or make much progress.

So CB starts on March 11th and 6 months from now would be during the second week of Sept., and going on how most MMOs proceed from Closed to Open Beta; there is usually a few days to several weeks downtime to prepare the servers for open. I then predict that Open beta will start within the final week of Sept and first week of Oct. {Sept 23rd through Oct 9th}

Open Beta will last for at least 3 weeks to 1 month, which would place its finally near the end of Oct or early Nov. Again, there will be at least a week or two from the end of Open Beta to the launch of FFXIV, so I say it'll launch between {Nov 13th and Nov 19th} at the earliest, and at the latest, Dec 7th through Dec 18th... Oh and I'm busy playing FFXI, so I havn't read most of the responses here since it appeared to start way off topic...

Wasn't it already announced to be released in q4 2010? Atleast thats what I heard. Either way, preorders aren't accurate release dates...

This makes sense, its being released on a tuesday (most games are nowadays) its being released before holidays, which most companies would try to do for christmas sales, and its being released in 2010, which is what was expected from the start.

    MMOs played: Too many
Watch List: FFXIV, CoH:GR, GW2, SWTOR, TERA, Earthrise

What amazon tells you means nothing. They formulate dates for things so they can have an accurate record of it. The way things are headed the game can release anywhere between October and December. As I recall SE wanted a 6 month or so beta period, not necessarily closed beta time. I could be wrong on that i just remember an article saying beta period of 6 months not just closed. Please tell me if I am wrong.

I agree, I'd rather trust Chris the Crackhead with a release date than amazon.  They are always jumping to conclusions for release so they can get pre orders.  They could be spot on, sometimes they get lucky with dates.  Once they start giving out preorder codes and stuff that's when their dates are more believable.

    ...

It's Amazon.  They always do this for games with no specific launch date announced.

    Remember Duke Nukem Forever?...Yeah.

Amazon always shoots randomly on release dates. The only release date you should look foward to is a date set by SE.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Apparently none of you understand what "Estimated" and my "Speculated Guess" are...this has very little to do with Amazon guessing an accurate release date...

November sounds good but I'll guess October instead. :)

I'd like to believe that Amazon has the actual release date but they have done this a lot in the past and it turned out to not be true =/ But hey maybe they got it this time, if so then yay. (:

well are release date at gamestop is 12-31-10 so i guess we will see when it does release

  • gr8txngr8txn Member Posts: 9

Gamestop uses Dec 31st as a placeholder in the computer systems so people can pre-order and they can assign a SKU the date means nothing.

I think SE will try to make Q4 2010 unless something delays the game in testing. It would be a good time to release as Blizzards Cataclysm release should be over by then (Q3 game?), and SW:TOR is 2011 game. I myself think Nov/Dec 2010, but I could be wrong here. Regardless, I think things are shaping up very well for FF XIV as an mmorpg prospect.

    amazon.php source code:

    release_date =  now + 36d8 * 30 / price

"Traditionally, massively multiplier online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars – combat, exploration and character progression. In Alganon, in addition to these we've added the fourth pillar to the equation: Copy & Paste."

I dunno man... 36 D8s is a lot of resource for Amazon to throw at this...

This triggered a manic episode. See you in a year guys, I'm gonna loose weight and do loads of regretable stuff. Like writing this. And repeating "this" 100 times in my head. **** THIS ****! Censored words.

These japanese need to stop slipping noodles outta their mouth and spit out productivity instead. Misobrains. :D

Well, seriously, amazon. Aren't they just using a date near the end of this year to assure it's not a date that is too early? Because the "estimated release" is this year. Why they would need to even have a set date, instead of using eg the precise "est. 2010", is a big question mark for me. I wonder if its to reduce the nuisance with these whiny people who keeps nagging them for a release date.

This is the best signature ever. Well, it is really up to you to decide. :x

I'm really hoping this game gets released before December. :x

But with the speed alpha is going I won't be surprised if it takes until then. I wouldn't take a websites word for its release date, we probably won't know the actual date until it comes straight from Square.
