Many people returns to AoC these days, and I read this guys comments on the AoC community. I found many of his observations quite well worded so I share it with the rest of you fellow MMOers.

This part says it very well. I suprised the author was female too but not totally and not in a bad way.

Looks like this game is getting good opinions nowdays indeed. I can not believe that a game that was despised and called to be avoided at all costs, now is praised. Seriously never expected that to happen considering how low this game dropped. I never hated it personally, I found it to be one of the better MMORPGs since WoW to be released but it sure did have quite many bugs. Not nearly as much as people stated it to have out of rage.
But I am not really so sure about doing tortage... again, for the 7th or so time. THis time without a friend. Is gonna be a pain in the ass. They haven't added any more starting areas, no?
I may give this a try for my yearly MMORPG come-back period, but first I give mortal online a go. With doubts.

Recently, a friend of mine convinced me to give this game a try and at first I wasn't to sure after playing the first 5 levels of the assassin, which isn't much at all.
Last night I started a HoX, and I like it much much more. I got through 10 levels in one sitting, which again still isn't much, but I can't wait to get back online and play some more.
One thing that did bother me quite a bit was the lack of extra hour support. AoC's online support for account issues and those types of things are only in the office from 8:am to 4:00pm EST. Recently, I upgraded from a trial account to a paid account with 2 months worth of time. While my money has already been taken, I have yet to receive a game key or any email/confirmation that would confirm my purchase. The in-game GM's were no help on the issue, and in the mean time I'm sitting around wondering what happened to my money and why it's taking so long. It's been 4 days so far, and not one peep from AoC. No response to my emails, nothing.
But yes, the game is good fun.

I never recieved anything confirming it, just go to your account and if the game is under your purchased products then you have it. nothing to it.

Myself and some other like-minded MMO players recently formed a guild on Cimmeria called Saga. It's a guild catering to new players and returning/reroll players. We're having a great time, and it seems as though there is a steady flow of new players joining the game in my short time playing. I'd encourage anyone considering playing or returning to the game to get in touch with us, as having people to play with through the levels makes a big difference in the experience.
And yes this is a shameless plug.

I also jsut resubbed to Age of Conan after two years of being off it. I am glad I came back. I have a lv 41 Dark templar and once i jumped into the game there was a player asking for a group to kill an elite. I immediatly said I'll go and in the proccess two more joined the group to help out as 3 of us could not take down this man. As we finished killing the elite I asked one of the group memebers If I could join his guild He immieditally state hold on. After just a few moments the guild leader invited me and everyone welcomed me aboard. I must say I enjoy this game and love the dungeons. I am always up for rare items like in everquest 2 and 1 that area hard to come by. I say the community is great and there are tons of players playing. So if you want to come back hey were all here to support you in your journey. Good Luck to all of You AOC fans. I am glad this game has come back on track and hopefully more to come.

I've had similar experiences with great PUGs and that was how I got into my guild.
Glad this game turned around. Was one of those upset at launch. And appreciate the article that came out around the 'most improved' award here on MMORPG.com, I had stopped following it. Thank you MMORPG! (I swear i'm not getting kickbacks)

I tried AoC shortly after launch and have been comtemplating coming back and giving it another shot. Today I found a 60day game card for $12.99 at Gamestop so it looks like I'll be heading back to Hyboria. As long as it is a land without gear score leet doodz and Kotick Glitter Ponies I think I'll enjoy myself.
If anything is worth a second look it is Age of Conan. Last summer I played again for two months and it was fantastically better than it was at launch. Funcom have done really well and everyone should take another look.
AoC is dead, why bother. Still instencied, all the real players are gone, everything else is 90% the same than what we got at the launch even the big updates didn't bring anything really new, still plenty of bug users without any action agaisn't them ... Well i lie, somethign is new for me, the lag and the many freezes every 5 sec that i never had back then
Lol Q2, FunCom can't even implement the (un-needed) offline skilling patch, let alone a full-blown expansion. Expect AoC's Game Director to pop up soon and announce the year starts in April, for tax purposes, therefore Q2 has been moved to July-September.
