No capships. But players will be able to construct clan bases and they say that actual avatars on space stations and or clan bases after release at some point.
lets hope they keep the focus on the dogfight. it will be ok to bring in some battlestations (gunner missions) but player controlled capitals will ruin the gameplay and the overall feeling.

Why?
no one will sit in a small fighter when there is a capital ship. the best example for this is eve online: small ships do not have a real impact to the game, they are just used for targeting, thats all. besides this: it seems you nerver played a flight sim with direct joystick input.

Someone hasn't played EVE apparently, because most of the combat in the game is between smaller ships (Battleships and below).
Capital ships are a major factor, especially out in 0.0 but they have to be supported by smaller ships or they get smoked.
I've been playing for almost 3 years and am just now considering training Capital ships due to their low versatility.
Back to BP, seems like the fans of this game want dogfighting and joystick combat, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense for a capital ship and let's hope they don't incorporate them using this sort of control. (just seems silly to me)

Also, I'm quite sure Reakktor could add bigger controllable ships in future patch/expansion if the need arise. As far as I know, they never say they would never bring that feature.
And before saying that the game will be boring/less fun without capital ship, I think we should wait that we try the game. If they didn't add them, there's a reason behind it.
Cap ships to fly yourself, in what once was a flightsim game = death of the core gameplay.
Hmm I'm sorry but I'll have to disagree. Unless the capital ship are really powerful and are able to kill the little ship easilly, I don't think they will destroy the "core gameplay".
In my mind, capital ship give fire support in dog fight, docking bay for ship in difficulty (and shouldn't be able to repair them fast), strong again base but weak again a great number of little fighting.
So bassically, as long capital ship aren't effiency until they have plenty of little fighter with them, it shouldn't destroy the gameplay (fleet made only of capital ship shouldn't be an option guilds will think about).
I think the mods on freelancer would be a nice way to implement capships as playership.
The big ship would have great difficulty to hit the small fighter and therefore the smaller fighter would win after a gread dead of time; unless he was really unlucky and flew into one of the beams that were fired.
The big ships were best at taking down big ships;) they could take a pounch like no other. If you brougit a bigship to a dogfighting area you would add little to no effekt.
But hey! It was fun owning one and hanging around hubs getting the awe from noobs:)
One of the best way to make the capital ship not that useful in dog fight is to make them slow. So if a faction with a capital ship ambush another faction without one, the latter shouldn't have any difficulty to escape the capital ship. Of course, it's another story if the defending one got, let's say, a space station. But that should be the main use of capital ship imo, destroying bases to take territory (EVE online is a good exemple of a system that work pretty well).

don't think so. this game is about fighter size aircraft, dogs fights.

Actully from some info i gained from a friend who is playing it says you can create multiple player capital ships.

While I don't think captial ships are flyable there will be times where you will have to simply grab a side gun from the ship and start shooting!
But i wouldn't doubt it that they could be getable at the end game for some juciy combat
Cap ships as targets in a flightsim game = good.
Cap ships as AI-operated "support" in a flightsim game = good.
Cap ships as massive resource sinks in the economy of a flightsim game = good.
