Doubt about pvp and soloing

gurthgorgurthgor Member Posts: 279

I just like playing warrior class, i played EQ and realized there warriors were very bad soloing and in pvp, just were meat to put in front of the big boss in raids. As i heard that in EQ2 you can solo well i was wondering if SOE still thinks as warriors just as in EQ.

    SOE doesn't think about anything.

warriors in EQ2 are slower soloing than a dps class or a crusader, but still excellent.  most tanks pretty much rock in pvp, although pvp overall sucks in EQ2.

You mean they rock in a group pvp, in duels or both? if you played EQ did you think tanks were also good in duels in EQ?

both.  never played eq.  seriously though, if you're interested in pvp, stay away from eq2.

What is the problem with the pvp? there are pvp servers

it's an afterthrough thrown into a pve-centric game and paid little attention.  AoC or AION are more PvP-centric.

The main problem with the PvP server is the PvP players. Most of the lower level characters you run into there are alts of long-time players, and are totally twinked. Expect to be rolled repeatedly by characters 2-3 levels lower than you.

Duh! EQ2 PvP has existed for like 4 years now!

And yes, after all these years PvP still have tons of problems. And no, it won't be fixed (it's SOE remember??).

battlegrounds for bored PvE players do not constitute "serious PvP"

I have been playing a templar on Nagafen for some months and EQ2 pvp is harsh and different, you will get ganked by twinked players, you have to do your homework on what zones to do and where to go. I would not recommend it to anyone who is new to EQ2 if you want to try the PvP rueset anyway I would recommend Vox the other PvP server (lower population). I think it is fun and it gives some risj to your leveling. There are several good guides up on the official SOE forums so read them, but as I said start on a regular server just to get your bearings before rolling on Nagafen, or maybe try Vox. The learning curve on EQ2 PvP is harsh so you have a high risk of getting discouraged.

But people on your side are generally helpful and positive (the channels are nasty though) and people group a lot. It is both pros and cons.

As it should be.  This is the only game on the market that doesn't kiss the butt of the PvP'rs. Its nice to have at least one game for the rest of us.
