I think somebody at MMORPG as jumped the gun a little, they are having technical difficulty's!

It's not quite live yet, but soon!

Estimated time is 9:00pm GMT/21:00 hours.

    It's SUPPOSED to ;)

    I play all ghame

Yeah...I wouldn't say it's "live" until the servers are actually up.

And THEN there's the little matter of a 3gb patch, which everyone will be downloading at the same time...

    Should be playing.....hm.....sometime tomorrow.

    Still pretty stoked, though.

Sadly still down. Given the bumpy road funcon has been having with Age of Conan a truely amazing game that saw people leave on mass cause of bugs and a lack of content I had hoped this would be a turn around. We would see a new experience building on what they got right and adding to it.

Unfortunately it seems more of the same and if day one sees more of the same will the expansion lack to deliever the much needed boost to the game?

Seeing as it's a 12H time frame window for the update, they haven't even hit 12H yet so it's definitely within reason.

yeah, I wouldn't go calling "DOOOOOOOM!!!" yet. They're still on schedule at this point.

Also.....it is really a rare occurance when any MMO launch or expansion launch goes smoothly. There are just too many variables.

Considering the state of the game these days, and the absolutely amazing improvement overall.....I'm rather willing to be forgiving if this expansion launch has a couple of hitches.

Actually they've extended the down time from 12 to 18 hours. It started at 3:00am GMT, was to end at 15:00 (3:00pm GMT). Expected up time is now 21:00 or 9 o'clock GMT tonight.

But yes, I'm also looking forward to it.  image

This is nothing. More then 5 years later, the latest expansion of EverQuest 2 caused months of server instabilities and constant downtimes. For months!

So 12 hours maintenance for the expac is nothing really.

Evidently MMORPG's definition of 'live' differs from mine, and indeed Funcom's.

Relax with the "not quite live" bla bla. Nasa blow up their rockets sometimes too. Software systems are complex, have alittle patience and hold your horses.

WoW had queues for months if not years.

Its all good, and a hopeful time for AoC.

It started at 8am GMT, not 3am... It is still within the 12 hour frame (until 4:00pm EDT anyway)

It's an MMO so it's expected. And fair warning, there will be bugs...

Of course there will be bugs, any launch has bugs.

But it was just delayed for up to 4 hours.

Nice, this should be down and patched just in time for me to go to bed. :)

Well, its up and it sure is gosh-darned pretty.

The 20-40th level play zone has some great quests and is absolutely huge.

My most memorable experience was riding my horse over the top of the Great Wall, looking out either side and seeing everything laid out before me in a vast panorama.

The biggest drawback that I see is that they've catered exclusively for long term players (there are 4 80th level playfields) and brand new players (1 x 20-40th level field) and nothing in between. A bit frustrating for people with characters between 40 and 80th level who want to play in Khitai. Its back to grinding through areas that are already well played through in Cimmeria, Stygia and Aquilonia.
