Looks like this will feel my gaming needs for the next months.
I have been watching this game for a while and it is going to be awesome as a single player game BUT.... watch the multiplayer and co-op play. It looks fantastic too.
Also out tomorrow is Alan Wake which looks great and in a couple weeks Alpha Protocol comes out. Check them all out.
I'll be at gamestop to get my preorder at midnight tonight. As for the PS3 exclusive content... don't hold your breath waiting for it. Rockstar hasn't released any info on this rumor so it could be just that... a rumor.

I have a PS3 and a 360. But I'm not getting this game until it comes out on PC.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.-
-And on the 8th day, man created God.-
This game looks great! Yesterday in the New York Times newspaper there was a great article about it. I just wish there had been a PC version of the game rather than just for Xbox and PS3.
Current: BDO
Looking forward to: Crowfall & Chronicles of Elyria
Someone on youtube.com made this awesome video of Red Dead Rdemption with some classic Metallica music. It is pretty awesome.

I've read there is an online version allowing up to 16 people to play. While not a true Mmrpg, this game may represent the wave of the future for gaming.
Anyone play it yet? First impressions of the game?
It is one of the best single player games I ever played and the multiplayer is fun and just as good as MW2 if not better. The game is easily GOTY without a doubt. The western atmosphere just gives games a breath of fresh air it is truely an epic game.
Multiplayer is not good at all in my opinion. It is a true campers game. You will always have the advantage if you sit still and be patient. This is more particular in normal mode, where there is autoaim to the body when you shoot. The other difficulties make multiplayer much better, where you actually have to free aim and test your skill.
In the end though, multiplayer modes (not free roam) are fun for a little bit, then you realize that camping is the way to go.
Have not even bothered to try multiplayer yet but the single player experience is absolutely fantastic. Learning to ride a horse well is a little tricky but the controls are solid. The story and visuals are great and there is a ton of stuff to do.
So far I have hearded cattle, roped and tamed wild horses, went after outlaws, pulled in a bounty, raced on horseback, Played horseshoes (yes, it is a in game minigame), drank in a saloon, saved a prostitute, and that is just in the first hour or two of gameplay.
The game is a must have in my opinion.
With all the hype around this game though I hope people do not miss out on another fantastic single player experience that came out yesterday- Alan Wake.
So is it a sandbox sorta like GTA or are you on rails like COD?
like GTA but better in just about every way
Open world/ Sandbox like GTA in the old west. Very, very well done.
Ok doug you sold me, if the game sucks I'm coming back here tomorrow and slapping you.
Very very excited for this, but unfortuantely I'll be waiting for the PC version. I have a PS3 but I know I'll hate the controls and stop playing so I'm just going to wait the six months or whatever for the inevitable PC version.
You guys waiting for the pc version will not be disappointed!
This game would make a truly amazing MMO. They did such a great job making the world vast and life-like. All the wildlife and flora and fauna are so authentic.
Yeah the controls stink. It is hard to control mounts effectively without running into things, and when you do, it is even harder to correct yourself. It does take some getting used to, but from my experience with GTA too I never got the hang of the control 100%.
The game is super open world. You might even find yourself lost cause of the many things you can do. The storyline is great, but it sucks when you die, go to your home, get sidetracked then try and remember what you were supposed to do to begin with.
Whut ? LOL! Controls for the ps3 and 360 are a piece of cake to handle. Sure it takes a touch more effort to work the controller but in no way shape or form does it hinder the game. I always been a pc user and stil lam but in this game I can swap weapons so easily without even hesitating. This idea that controllrs are difficult is just a myth pc elitest like to create.
The touch sensitive controls on controllers take a while to get used to but they're something I've learned to love. The sensitive buttons on a controller feel a lot more natural than the rigid keys on a keyboard. Like if you want your character to walk slowly just slightly press the analog stick forward.
Where-as on a computer game you usually have to hold down some ridiculous group of keys to get your character to walk (at one pace). The triggers on a controller also feel a lot more natural than clicking a mouse button (particularly in shooter games), and in games like GTA they also allow you to choose exactly how much speed you want your vehicle to have. I can't imagine how driving the vehicles using a keyboard and mouse would even work...
I never would have considered this game, but after watching a few trailers and reading a few things I'm more prone to buy it.
I'll be waiting for the pc version as I only have an old x-box gathering dust somewhere.

I bought the PS3 version and I'll probably also buy it when/if it eventually comes to PC so I can play the online mode with friends. PSN multiplayer isn't nearly as social as a PC version would be. Very few people on PSN have a mic/headset and the games don't support any kind of in-game text chat like you see in PC games. :x
