On another note though. It seems a bit inappropriate to have super-duper jedi heros and people from other games/timelines in here as companions. Sure as day-dreams go these are legitimate, but as viable companions not so much...
Sure a droid would be fitting to some although the iconic ones are rather cliche. Personally I would like to have the option to shape our own companion through choices rather than pick out of a line-up. Just like the story bends with your choices and actions, maybe after a few hours of gameplay you earn your companion based on your actions up to that point, thus pulling something from a more sinister culture or a righteous heritage.
Actually,. from the little we've been given so far, that is essentially how it works.
Mara Jade: Jedi with a serious rogue background an an iron determination. Sick.
Kyp: Read the books to see why you want this Force user at your back.
Carth: ITS FRIGGIN CARTH DAMN IT!
Ghent: What R2-D2 cant slice this guy CAN. No piece of information in the galaxy is safe from him.
R2-D2: Solid slicing, awesome repair, incredible will, he is awesome no doubt about it
Honorable Mentions
HK-47: My only beef is the name. Its real obvious. The other problem is the lack of heavy weapons. He makes up for it with stealth but still.
Xizor's droid: If you dont know who i'm talking about Read Shadows of the Empire. The name fails me today and that sucks. She was the only reference in the entire SW canon that i remember to a Data class Android. (full bio exterior) Viciously strong intelligent and hot to boot.
I'd want a T3 droid, a power droid, a MSE droid and a Krath droid. Not sure what my 5th would be, but I'm very partial to droids...I miss being a droid engineer in SWG.
Can't say I ever read any Star Wars expanded universe fiction that was anywhere near good, so I hope they keep companions to "canon fodder type" characters and not include all these silly, named EU characters.
I sincerely hope they do not add Gungans as companions. Imagine entering a player hub and you meet fifty Jar Jars. "Log out. Delete account."
Now, since everybody's adding whatever Star Wars characters on their wishlist regardless of the timeline of the game, I might do as well:
1. Boba Fett (or, in timeline, Mandalorian Warrior)
No, not the snotty kid without acting abilities from the prequels but the cool Boba from the OT.
Unfortunately, I kind of agree with the growing thought on Companions being a bad idea. Based on what they have on their site for Companions, it just reeks of single player instead of multiplayer and a means to kill immersion.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
I loved the movies and all, but...swap R2-D2 and Hk-47 and we're set. HK-47 was just...too awesome. Combat-wise and comic-wise (especially comic-wise). Me wantz to buy a droid from the HK series as a companion in SWTOR.
I am going to mention lore, yes hang on to your storm trooper helmets. One thing that needs to be considered is does the character come from a race that travels round the galaxy? If not it is going to look rather odd. Funny little teddy bear race take note.
Most timelines put the old republic from 25,000 to 1,000 years before the movies. Most of the mentioned companions above will be unavailable. Except the ones from KOTOR and a couple others.
Comments
I agree with Brett, I want a Natalie Portman companion.
Awesome.
Even more awesomerest!
In no order:
- A juvenile Krayt Dragon
- A techical droid (troopers shoot, not slice)
- Zeltron female melee fighter
- 2.5 meter tall war droid. With rockets!
- someone who was "not quite" strong enough in the force to stay a Jedi.
Actually,. from the little we've been given so far, that is essentially how it works.
I vote for "Visas Marr" from kotor 2
1. Sy Snootles
2. Salacious Crumb
3. Lando Calrissian (complete with a 6-pack of Colt 45)
4. A Rancor Monster
5. Max Rebo
Yeah, I'm kinda partial to Jabba's personal band.
My top five would be..
1. Darth Talon
2. Mara Jade (Sith not pansy jedi ***** that married Skywalker)
3. HK-47 (or 50+ depending on what model their on now)
4. Juno Eclipse
5. Proxy
The droid you're looking for is Guri http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/guri/index.html

Mission Vao, all time best KOTOR companion, and their wasn't ever a close second.
Vette and a grown up Mission Vao teamed up together...? I'd probably need to install a wiper blade on my computer monitor.
She was so obnoxious but ever so impossible to hate. The Old Rebuplic just wouldn't be the same not chasing Griff all over the place.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
No Jar-Jar Binks??????? LOL

2. IG-droid
Nothing like an assassin droid to back you up
3. Twi'lek Lapdancer
4. Padawan / Sith Apprentice
5. A Hutt ^^

Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20%

Some of these articles can sure dreg up some of the most obscure trivia.......not sure what this article has to do with anything MMO related...

What happened to the Jawas pic?

Awesome choice in Ghent btw.
What, no Kamikaze Porkins?
[ominous] Oh yes, I'd take the assassin droid, thank you.
M59, UO, EQ1, WWIIOL, PS, EnB, SL, SWG. MoM, EQ2, AO, SB, CoH, LOTRO, WoW, DDO+ f2p's, Demos & indie alpha's.
I'm amazed that with all the glo-stick lovers out there, there wasn't one mention of:
That would be my choice.
Erm, that would Mara Jade if anyone didn't know.
Considering that her grip is backwards on the lightsaber, I'm pretty sure whoever she is would just die at the first sign of danger.
How could you have Wedge? The games set far before he or anything that defines him existed..
Anyways, I want a Hutt.
Currently Playing: The Game
I want twin extra hot female Twileks with repeating blasters!!
The three jawas Is a good idea.
I'd go with Silri from Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. Get a decient looking goth chick and a Rancor for the price of one.
