Need help finding a MMO or RPG browser game...

TheHatterTheHatter Member Posts: 2,547

I'm taking a class this summer and it's freaking terrible. Death by Powerpoint, where it takes 49 slides to 'learn' how to install Windows. Yeah...... it's bad.

I need SOMETHING to play that doesn't require a huge commitment and has 0 download, no plugin, no client... nothing. I am having alot of trouble finding anything that's remotely interesting though. Most games out there are pretty bad that I've seen, but I know there has to be a diamond in the rough somewhere.

There are really only a few things I'm looking for:

  • RPG or MMORPG, doesn't matter

  • doesn't require a huge commitment

  • isn't a turn based game that generates w/e over time. I'm in class 8-12hrs a day, time generated turns or waiting for stuff to build/grow or whatever would just lead me back to the same place I'm at now.

  • is FUN

  • isn't a recruitment/viral/spam BS game

  • has a bit of professionalism to it

  • NO DOWNLOADS WHAT-SO-EVER. I can, but don't want to install anything to these systems.

Any help would be a appreciated.

Seriously, I'm not looking for the obvious, I thought that was a given? Because, if it's as obvious as that, then I probably have a reason that I'm not playing it already. I don't mean to be rude, but c'mon.

Try The Chipped Dagger. Its 2d and still in beta but a fun game worth trying out.

Ooo.... I didn't know that was playable yet.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow, thanks. :)

I tried the Chipped Dagger, but it seems very very lacking and no in-game tutorials. Sort of the idea, but I'm really looking for something a little more finished.

I'm still open to more suggestions. They don't have to be MMOs, just some good long RPGs. I tried playing Final Fantasy 1 in flash, but then I remembered how terrible that game is. lol FF2 was great, FF1 wasn't.

I did try to try it.

But, it's kind of pointless to have a browser game where I have to install a plugin that I wouldn't normally have, to run a game. :( To me it seems like it just defeats the purpose of making it a browser game in the first place, lol.

    Looks decent though.

Battledawn is a fun game to kill time however it is turn based. BUT! you can join a server which turns go really fast. Like every 10mins.

Also not a MMO but you can certainly lose hours and hours playing games at kongregate.com

Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried everything posted and haven't found anything that keeps me occupied. Blah.

That Canaan Online was pretty good, but I just felt like I was playing a 2D version of Atlantica Online.

I don't necessarily want an MMO.... just any RPG that can keep me occupied. I wish they wouldn't have moved this freaking thread out of General Gaming.

You can try out "Deadfrontier!" A Zombie Post-Apo. Survival horror (MMO) game =P

Currently In 2D with over 1,800+ players online at mid-day, Its a flash actionscript 2 online game! XD though the CEO/Administrator is making the 3D version of it ATM. the 3D version is currently for GM's only and was just released on June 2nd it will be open for everyone in early July.

Head to my page on info and check the youtube link, it shows video XD

Everything you do in the 2D version will be converted/imported into the 3D version. (the 2D version still being fun and worth checking out.)

http://codeofeverand.co.uk/index.php?page=main  Probably the one of the best 2D one I have found yet...sadly

http://www.edgebee.com/  Pretty good and polished, but grindy and requires real money to get anywhere

    http://www.fragoria.com/   Horrible lag

http://www.shadowtale.com/   This one is awesome too for being a 2D sidescroller MMORPG

http://fusionfall.cartoonnetwork.com/   To childish for me, but good cell shaded style graphics.

http://legendsofzork.com/  Meh...good art, but not really into the whole text based with a little bit of art RPG thing.

http://poxnora.station.sony.com/index.do    I havent tried this one yet, but looks cool if you are into the Final Fantasy Tactics style (or Dofus)

http://www.sacredseasons.com/  Not my cup of tea

http://www.sherwooddungeon.com/     I havent tried this one either

http://www.vanthia.com/     Not out yet, but looks damn cool if you were an old school 8bit/16bit console RPGer back in the day.  :)

Oddly enough, I have been playing Shakes and Fidget the most while wasting time surfing the web.

I'm still trying out the games in this thread, but so far this one has actually been the one to peak my interest the most. lol. I love TCGs! But, Ederon seems to be dying (damn good though) and Urban Rivals annoys me with the stupid pill system and seems to have gotten rid of most of their cards since the last time I played.

I would love Warstorm if they actually let you control your plays though. Damn good game with lots of potential, completely wasted by not letting the player actually play. It's a total shame.
