Gaming in general is a pointless endeavour. I play to have fun. Manual aiming seems like more fun. Show us on the doll where the mean FPS player AWP'd you.
What I find amusing is the 'Manual Aiming is so much better becuase you gotta have skills...'
Good job you are awesome at aiming, you obviously have superior gaming skills....
Which all adds up to what?
Nothing. Again good job.
Yes kinda like back in the old days when fighters went to war with swords and spears, the one with skills went home at the end of the day.
........good job you press 1,2,3,4,5,6. You must have crazy good skill then.
All in all, any game you play takes some amount of skill to master. Some easier than others. Some catch on quicker than others. The fact you don't want to accept this is beyond me.
As Jak said above, The main issue will be lag. I'm hoping for a lag free experance but I'm sure it will pop up at some point during gameplay.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Again just too funny....I never said that autoaim was more skillful....I was pointing out the twitch elitists acting like the playstyle they prefer is way more skill intensive and therefore must mean its 'better' someone being better at a twich based game is just that...Good Job you are better at a twiched based game....which means....o yeah NOTHING.
Furthermore the LAZY comments are just too funny.....pretty sure you are sitting in a comfy chair MAYBE moving your fingers a little faster than mine?....Good job you are a super active non-lazy gamer....I am very impressed.
And to the guy comparing twich based gaming to Soldiers on a battle field....again good job....you are far from a soldier or have the skills of a real soldier....get a grip.
manual aim, is a bit pointless if its not a FPS, aka Planetside. in fantasy games it ceases to be a game of skill, and instead becomes a game of, who can run around and jump the best while hitting the attack key... skillful ? tactical ? hardly..
So you would prefer the point and click style? That's certainly a great system that promotes skillful play. Anything takes more skill to play than the average point and click MMO. Have you played an FPS? You run around, jump, and hit your attack keys. I fail to understand how that would translate into mindless game play in an MMO.
last time i checked Planetside was FPS. quite a good one imo, MMO though it is.. very dated now, especially the graphics. but it is, without a doubt a FPS, personally i thought Counterstrike got the right balance, basically if you moved/jumped etc, your shots were 'wild' and no matter how well you aimed, were as likely to hit the guy next to your target, as not, personally i think the tactics of circling while jumping is not only mindless but assinine and no reflection of actual skill, and yes, i have played FPS' quite a few of them... Oblivion, btw, is my favourite offline game, pretty sure that doesnt fall into the 'point and click' variety either, though you might be referring to Eve, which, admittedly, is a mousedriven game, and a game requiring skill and tactics, and by skill i definitely don't mean the ingame skills you learn over time. Manually aiming is imo, best suited to FPS' types of games, its rare to find a fantasy game that handles it all that well.
I think the people you are calling elitest here are probably quite good at both types of games styles. They just prefer one style over the other because it gives them more of a challange. I have no idea why that would upset you.
The comment about real fighting and twitch game play is a "abstract reference" (sorta like painting a picture). Of course we are talking about games and entertainment here and not real fighting but sometimes one must use abstracts inorder to get there point across.

Wow......your post are just mind boggling. First you make fun of "twitched" based gaming, then you say you don't prefer either. I've seen people boast and preach about which one is better. Neither are, so get over it. It's all personal preference. Some of the comments people are making about this game are personal opinions. Stop taking what they're saying to heart and get over it.
Not to mention you missed the point of what he was saying when he was talking about soldiers. Your acting like everybody is on their high horse when your doing the same. jeez
the only area manual fails in is grinding... id rather not put more effort into haveing to aim to take out an npc.... would just bore the heck out of me... one reason i could not play darkfall is not wanting to kill 4000 goblins with a bow and arrow when the goblins are likely to dodge.... although oblivion did it well, they centered on quests instead of pure npc grinding and that made it immensly fun...
I am not upset....nor did I say that one style is better than the other....it was the twich based community who got upset and with arrogance and elitism ridiculed the OP. I find it all well funny.
Also I can appreciate your subtle insults...really I mean it. But yes I do understand abstract references.
My point in referring to your 'abstract reference' is my original point....being a good twiched based player doesn't make you a better gamer nor is it a better gaming style...it just is....so why come and wax eloqently about it?
The point is non-twich players are none of the things that most are pointing out...lazy, non skilled, wow kiddies....
I wax eloquently about it is because I prefer that game style. I said nothing about being a better gamer because of it.
And what is a better gaming style again is a matter of choice.
I see nothing in my prior post that is a direct insult towards you or anyone else, But if you feel that it is then I apologize. That was not my intent.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
honestly i think most of use are looking forward to it because of the manual targetting. not because we prefer it, but because it means the game will play different from what we're use to. so it might actually feel like a new game for a change and not just the same old thing we've been playing for the past 10 years.
now i'm sure it will have some of the same things the rest of the fantasy MMOs out there have (probably most of the same).but thats atleast one thing we know will be different, and to me changing up the game play itself is a big plus in my book to give it a new game feel.

I think the game has promise, but I hope bunny-hopping isn't the way to play this game. I don't think fighters went around jumping up and down back in the old days, but its a common "tactic" in games. If you're penalized for hopping around like a stamina loss, or the speed at which you move slows down, or your ability to target is diminished while you jump, then I think the manual targetting could be fun.
If this ends up being just another game where you hop up and down to avoid targetting, then you can keep this game. There's nothing epic about battles where players are jumping up and down as they attack.

I just can't stand the whole "bunny hopping" way of fighting. It looks ridiculous.

Jumping around while attacking is a way to bypass skill lock animation in certain games. I personally hate getting locked in a spot when i'm trying to solo a mob it usually takes 6 people to kill while having to maintain a certain distance. Sure i'd rather not have to jump around and look silly, but i blame game mechanics and not the players.
i was soo excited until i started to read the official forums and saw a bunch of cry babys wating a instant win software instead of an adventure. im REALLY worried about the "western feedback"

Yes the only reason I'm paying attention to this game is the manual targetting but unless the rest of the game is fun and engaging it won't mean much.If changing up one gameplay mechanic in genre was all that mattered Cryptic games would rule the MMORPG world.

I would agree, there should be a way to dodge, strafe, move without looking like jiffy pop.

only thing I dislike about the manual targeting is the game will be more minded to action game players, and for one only really playing MMOs for it to be an adventure game, not an action game....not that you cant mix the 2....but MMOs have been my personal escape from FPS games, that already made single player adventure games very rare, or go like tomb raider "adventure" action game
and to all talking about skill yus spam 1 button and aim is harder than the "1 2 3 4 system?" pff.
hm edit: and find ppl who have a problem with "bunny jumping" very weird.....dont go near a kindergarten you would go insane I tell you.
I realised that you have to aim constantly :-( Am I the only one bummed out over that fact?
If it wasnt for that I would play in a heartbeat .... game looks great.
It's exactly because of that I will play in a hearbeat when it will be out!
I was getting bored with the whole 'tab' and 1,2,3,4 ... and 1,2,3,4 and 1,2,3,4 in almost EVERY mmorpg since the ... very very long time, but that's just me, I was always more fast action type kind.
I admit there will probably be days where I would rather sit back and 1,2,3,4 tab to relax .. who knows maybe I'll hate this action new mmorpgs

Yea I got so bored with the 1,2,3,4 system I became a rebel and started doing 4,3,2,1 instead. But ya know, for some reason, it still sucks.

I cant even believe people are having this debate!!!!
In Super Mario Bros you had to aim your character. If you messed up that umpa lumpa ate you!
You mean to tell me that WOW did that for you? Wow, games have really regressed since TRON, PONG, and Super Mario Bros....
Another reason that game is trash...
