I'm looking for a new computer, preferably a laptop. I want one that is specifically for gaming, but not too expensive. I'm not too sure what to get though, could anyone help me out?
the best is alienware but they are godly expansive iw ould go with dell Xps is there gaming rig i belive they are expansive but not as much as alienware and they are more reliable
Laptop + Gaming do not mix well. You will be terribly disappointed. If you are looking for a laptop my leading suggestions would be ASUS, MSI, EuroCom, or Clevo/Sager. These will give you the best products for the least price. If you want real quality you should be looking at Origin PC or Falcon Northwest.
If you are looking for a desktop, you should ideally build it yourself. Outside of that you are looking at CyberPowerPC / iBuyPowerPC, Origin PC, or Falcon Northwest.
I would highly advise to avoid Dell, Alienware, HP, Voodoo PC, Gateway, or Apple. They do not offer the best products or of good quality but will charge you like they do.
A price range would help, people could link you a few choices then. Cleffy is right there though with his choices, personalIy I would go for an ASUS as they do reliable laptops at a decent price.
I currently use a Gatewayx2800 desk top. I did not find and affordable laptop to play online games with. With its 8g DDR3 and quad core 2.3 cpu I have no issues playing games. The graphics are pretty crisp and this is no lag when playing MMO's. This computer can handle just about any game and is pretty affordable if you can find one.
That's pretty much your only option. It's not all that great, but better than the rest. Anything w/ an ATI 5470 is junk. I have one, but I wanted 17"+ and at least an i5.... but I have a desktop rig I can game with. This is just for travel and I rarely game on it.
Th 310 performs worse then the HD5470 Mobility. The HD5730 is probably what you should be aiming for, those hover at around the $1000 mark.
Ah yeah, you're right.
Both are crap then. I was thinking it was something else. They had another one for about that price with a much better nVidia not too long ago. I remember checking the charts on it and it was way better than the 5470. I wonder what happened.
So yeah...... you're not getting a gaming laptop for under $1k that can do much. A 5470 won't even run BC2 good enough to play online.
All for $830, that's room enough in your budget for another 5770, on top of upgradability in the future!

Price range? I'd say anything about $1,000 and under.

You go down to an i5, a 5650 Mobility (Blegh) and 4GB of RAM. It's all your decision though
Good luck,

P.S. A thousand dollar desktop would get you a lot more performance and lot more longevity, that laptop will be out of date in ~2-3 years.
