The amazing graphics of Warhammer online

As a graphic developer for MMORPGs, I personally invite every single naysayer to do better than the textures you are mocking. No, really, post your own textures (handmade, of course. you're not allowed to just rip off CGtextures or filterforge). I'd love to see you create 50 different photorealistic seamless stone wall textures in a day FROM SCRATCH, get them all perfect, and still have the energy to do anything.

FYI, we actually produce textures in the initial resolution of about 4000x4000. However, large texture maps require more space, and thus they must be shrunken down from 5mb to 200kb so that we can fit everything either into a 4gb download or a DVD. It's easier to have lower-res textures for the masses, then to lose almost every client simply because the game comes on 40 discs to better suit those who demand the highest resolution possible.

    0-2 isn't a good record.

I don't care either just care for fluid character control, animations and yep you guessed it atmosphere, the game world of Warhammer online is very bland and to me has no atmosphere.

Completely, ignoring your LUL for LULZ posts. I have to fully agree with this 100% about Warhammer. I don't care about graphics myself,.. just give me good gameplay. But Warhammer there was indeed no real feel of atmosphere in most of the game. Most places where just thrown around, and built.. as if someone puked on the screen. Very very few places offered a sense of awe. There was one or two times.. where i said to myself "Hey this fuggin sweet".

For me stepping out into Praag's ORvR lake for the first time... i got a sense of awe Even though the town wasn't pretty looking, but it was just how the town was set up and made it feel like a real war was going on. IMO made it the best RvR area, to fight in. Too many other places, just purely lacked any real forethought... but i guess that what ya get for rushing a game out in 3 years.

This is a bit ridiculous. Obviously I am not a game artist, so I can't personally do any better. However I certainly have the right as a consumer to complain if I don't like the end product. Hell I can't build  a car from scratch by myself either, but I can complain as a consumer if the one I buy is a lemon. Besides all of these MMORPG claim they want feedback from the consumers so they can improve the game. All I am saying is, in my opinion, WAR should improve their graphics.

There are games out there that have great looking textures and manage to perform without running off all of their clients. I personally think Allods Online has nice looking textures and it's a F2P. I never said it was the resolution specifically that was the problem in WAR. They just don't look that great.

Also, if you have a problem with your workload then you should take that up with your employer, not us. Sounds like you need a vacation.

Sorry dude game looks horrid still sure it plays better but big deal. Last I checked it was 2010 not 2003.

You haven't played many mmos if you think WAR looks anything but decent. So now what, you'll go to AoC and make close ups of clothing and say "OH LOOK! ITS JUST FLAT COLOUR!!! YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE THREADS!!!" Puh-lease...make a complaint abount something the game ACTUALLY needs, which it isn't a graphics update precisely.

Whatever dude, enjoy BO and Keep swapping with an 5 yr to 6 yr old game engine and 4 servers. Have fun, oh and either this game will be bye bye or F2P soon enough. Absolute 100% embarrasment, Mythic goes down as the most imcompetent, clueless game development company I have ever seen. Hell Funcom is way better at least they turned their game around and released an expansion (even thoughI dont play AOC, I'm done with gear grinds and endless raiding).

Enjoy your 2003 graphics, horrible physics, no atmosphere, keep BO and Scenario emblem crest, ward gear grinding fest based on an outdated gamebryo engine from 2003 (that's the truth). Enjoy your Ohhh shiny! horrible tacked on lifeless bloom and HDR effects.

Enjoy lights out or F2P in under 6 months time. Actually GW is allready trying to get it shut down so they can give the IP to someone else but EA allready has their grimy hands on it for another 4 yrs. True story BTW. I can't wait for the truth to get out or come to light many people will be up in arms. You are aware that 40% of the dev team has been given pink slips and another 30% of the dev team were transferred to Bioware to work on Star Wars TOR. You do also know that Mythic is basically a little rinky dink 50 person operation now (true story).  Have fun bro!

LMAO, not when 35 of them are accounting, Human resources, and customer service reps). For your information there's only 50 people in the whole company and that includes the janitor. LOL.

Hell I can see Mythic hiring the Janitor to do modeling or animation work. They have to be the saddest bunch I ever seen, especially that schmuk Jeff and Andy (he's a hardcore wow nut, go figure that one out).

Ryzom's engine was in-house developed and not available for purchase for all these years. It's only one month or two that it has gone opensource so you can actually reuse it, and that's provided you don't mind sharing back all the changes you do to it - something that Mythic could be against.

Actually, got a detail off there.

The engine used for Ryzom, the Nevraxx (NEL) Engine, has always been open-source and available to everyone, since the game released.

Ryzom the game has only recently gone open source. The engine it's built on, however, has always been.

I dont belive people still complaining about this game like they have nothing left to do, The graphic are good enough and the light and shade give it a good atmosphere. If you dont like it, WHY ARE YOU PLAYING ? and if you dont play, WHY DONT YOU JUST STFO.  And for those who said that war gonna close soon, it's too late, the game still running so your prediction was wrong. Sorry but soon is not like two years later. Have a nice day.

Stop complaining and move your ass.

The graphics are fine, not top-notch but they work.  It's the gameplay that just stinks, in my humble opinion.  It's just boring.

Its not graphics Im so much concerned about, its atmosphere, and WAR has plenty of it. The reason I no longer play is because i feel like im walking the yellow brick road, only 1 path, 1 direction, 1 motive. When i saw the maps i couldnt believe the set up!

Im not fighting the opposing side because they are up in my business, but because i can visualy see their path crossing mine at a given intersection with no real reason for battle.  It needs a more natural reason, one that makes me want to destroy the opposing force for stepping foot in my zone.

A third faction would also be another wonderful addition, Devs cant seam to grasp a 3rd faction these days, If one gets too powerful, the other two are there to band together and put them in their place, its flawless
