I cancelled my Aion account about 2months ago, i just got a email from Ncsoft that i activated my account, and that i did a password change, and i was billed $15 bucks....WTF...i never activated my account!!!. Somebody hacked it....i got there ip address because NCsoft emailed it to me due to the password change. I did email ncsoft about this...should i be calling them...not sure where to go with this, very pissed off, will never play another asian mmo...

Well, I went to the NCSoft account manager, and clicked the ' I forgot my password' button,  so it reset my password and emailed me another one,

When i went to log into the NCsoft account manager, it said " This account user XXX has been permanetly block"...what does that mean?? all i care about is that my account is cancelled, i dont care if my character is gone...i dont want anyone else using my credit card info

They do not store your CC info.  Also, to reset your PW you must answer two security questions (I know this because I just did it).  This means that you probably have a keylogger on your PC, or you are trolling.  If you are not trolling I highly suggest having your bank issue you a new card and install a fresh copy of Windows.

I hadn't played since October and when I went to resub a few days ago my account was blocked because someone had tried to hack it. That game isn't very safe at all.

Welcome to the club. My account got hacked too after being inactive for several months , and no I did not buy gold from scam sites , I dont share my account details with anyone and my PC is free of trojans/viruses before someone asks

Ummm, I believe Turbine keeps CC info even after termination of one's sub.  I cancelled my sub and a month or two later decided to go back, and it still had my info.  So, if Turbine does it, I'm sure other companies do as well.

If your account has been Permanently Blocked just call NCSoft at (512) 225-6359 and talk to their Billing Department. Have your CD-Keys ready, because they will want to verify your information when you call to make sure its you, before unlocking your account.

Explain your situation and take it from there, I've never had a single problem with their CSR on the Phone. They are very helpful.

You're right, Turbine keeps your account info stored. The same thing happened to me when I bought Siege of Mirkwood for $9 in February I think, and I didn't need to put my CC info to resub.

This is actually very wierd and actually leaves a lot of doubt hanging on NCsoft's account security. I made a looooong while back an account for playing Tabula Rasa.  Then, I played 1 week in Aion beta. Never posted on any forum, different account names, different master account name and game account name.

As a general rule, I never use a game account username as account username etc. I tried recently logging in on the Ncsoft master account and it said account permanently blocked. Never did I get a notification/warning message from NCsoft or PW change request email. Basically, the last time I ever used my NCsoft account was during the 1 week of AION beta.

Bottom line is that NCsoft can't be trusted much and after this I actually started to suspect that the "avalanche" of people crying "I got my NCsoft account hacked out of the blue" may hold some truth especially since it's been a spike a few months back and after that it died down. So, my guess, would be some security issue on NCsoft's end which compromised a range of accounts.

Also, I'd wonder why my accounts from the other 2 games I play, EVE and AO, never encountered any issues like these. So, because my other 2 game accounts never had any kind of problems, I can safely assume there was no keylogger involved :D

I thought about resubbing until I logged in to my master account to find it was permanently blocked.  I'm sure you could rectify it with a simple email to NCsoft...hopefully.

I'm not so sure about the $15 charge part of the OP.

Whoever stole your account would have had to put in their own CC info (or a stolen CC) to reactivate the account.  I guarantee that you were not charged anything.

What it seems to me is that whoever took the account forgot to change the account email address, so when they reactivated your account, you got the notice of the charge.

There is no way they could have used your same CC info, unless the hacker stole your CC too.

Anyway, NCSoft has a pretty big problem with people hacking their support page.  It is pretty unsecure really.

I found that out a few months ago when my wife's Aion account was stolen.  Her computer did not get infected, she did not get any fishing emails, the only thing I can guess is that her password was just too easy (it was just a normal English word) and it was a brute force attack.

But somehow someone is getting ahold of people's user accounts (her user account was NOT common) and either their passwords too or brute forcing the passwords through NCSoft's horrible account website.

I am 100% positive that it was nothing my wife did, or some type of keylogger/trojan on her computer.  I've been doing IT for 10 years and deal with infected computers on a daily basis at my work, so I know how to check for these kind of things.

The problem with the account website is that you can change everything about the original owner of the account, from the name/address, to the original registered email, WITHOUT VERIFICATION.

We have no plans to resubscribe to Aion, but we emailed support and after a few days of back and forth (we no longer had the account keys used for the original registration of the game, which they asked for during the process) with them, they gave her access to the account back, which we promptly reconfigured and closed again.

"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."

They really need to beef up their security. My account was just hacked, and I'm sure it wasn't a keylogger or anything because I havn't been subscribed to the game for about 9 months.

I think this is what happen to mine also.

Actually, NcSoft DOES save your CC on your account even if you cancel because I just checked (I've deactivated both CoH/CoV and Aion) and I can see my credit still on file under their billing and I can use it to reactivate both my CoH/CoV account and Aion account.

As for not playing another Asian MMO...wtf you going to play then? Lol

And you can contact NcSoft here: 512-498-4000

NCSoft has the worst customer service and account security of any Asion MMO publisher/creater. They will not help if your a/c is hacked or banned as they do not care or cannot be bothered to assist as their policy and procedure's do not allow anyone to assist you in getting suff back, refund of money or banned a/c back. I suggest for security to close your ncsoft a/c and cancel your card to be reissued with a new number and perhaps a reinstall of your operating system.

I don't care that much about my Aion account, but the hacker got my master account permanently blocked which had coh/cov on it.

At least they didn't use my debit card. I hope my card information didn't get saved.

Why take the risk?  Just go to your bank and get a new debit card issued.  Won't cost you anything.

...and yes, NCSoft customer service/support is one of the worst in the industry.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Blizzard is no better, I've been trying to close my Battlenet account since last Februari. Blizzard started to complain about my "abuse" of the Wow Eula , mind  I cancelled my WoW account November 2009 and haven't touched or even had WoW on the PC since then. Mailed them , called them , send them the request to cancel on paper, no reaction apart from the "if you don't stop we'll ban you", So I dared them to ban me, which they probably haven't done because I still get a reminder to stop every once and a while.

Btw I know the difference from mail from Blizzard and the mail we get on a weekly basis from our friends in China who pretend to be Blizzard, you know the ones who hacked Battlenet's sec system last year :)
