I keep getting e-mails to join the betas for these two games, but I haven't tried them out yet. Has anyone tried both? If so which one is better and why?
IMO Test Drive Unlimited will be the better game. The Need for Speed franchise has not been good since Need for Speed Underground, and it has gotten too arcade. Test Drive Unlimited is a pseudo mmo, not really an mmo. It nicely integrates multiplayer as an element into the game. Its not an mmo because every car on the road is not a player. Instead every once in a while you sync with a couple other players randomly based on how many players you are already synced with. When you get to a multiplayer track there are usually a few people waiting for a race and you can join in.
TDU IS the best game but the multiplayer element only allows 8 people to cruise/race around together... maybe they will increase it in the sequel?
Why are there so many cutesie, fantasy, childish MMO's. Give me blood, gore and a long lasting challenge. I don't need my hand being held along the way. Thanks.
Comparing these 2, I go for NFS. They really make decent racing games. Test Drive just isnt popular enough. If Gran Turismo made one for PC, I so getting that for sure.
I like TDU only becasue it was on xbox360, and I want to support it since there are very few like it on that platform. I am happy for NFSW too, but Test Drive was really fun, and I hope the sequel will be better.
SWTOR, EVE (Atrum Muris), Allods(Ferrum), APB (Blacknight)
I assume you mean TDU 2? I can only judge from TDU 1.
NFS World is a better arcade experience, but it needs alot more cars and custom options. It's still in beta, so it's reasonable to think these might be on the way.
TDU 1 is a bit more sim, but it suffers from a serious lack of track polygons which makes bumps sharp and unmanagable. Plenty of cars and custom ops, though.
TDU 2 may have improved on this. If so, I'm more likely to play it than NFSW. NFSW is arcade to the Nth degree.
I watched the live feed for NFS at E3, I got to say I was not too impressed by what I saw. Driving on rails, no damage that I could see (and they were banging into stuff left and right). It reminded me of some nasty piece of candy wrapped in a gold foil package.
I did not see too much of test drive...so don't know !
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
