No FFXIV for Xbox 360

"Square Enix says that it is unlikely that there will be a Final Fantasy XIV for the Xbox 360 platform. Apparently, despite the best efforts of series creator Hiromichi Tanaka in talking with Microsoft the two sides could not come to an agreement.
According to what we have been told, Tanaka is claiming that the “closed” nature of the Xbox Live service is the reason that the series will not appear on the Xbox 360. Instead, FFXIV will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Windows PC platforms.
This is not the first time that MMO developers have blamed Xbox Live as the reason that their titles have not appeared on the Xbox 360 platform. While Final Fantasy XI is one of the few MMO titles on the Xbox 360 platform, our sources suggest that there are some differences between the previous release and the new Final Fantasy XIV; and those differences are apparently enough for it to be an issue.
Our sources tell us that Square Enix is still apparently talking with Microsoft, but they are less than hopeful that something will change to allow the title to be released on the Xbox 360 platform. Of course, the good news is that the two sides are still talking; but unless some sort of a compromise can be reached at the last hour, we find it unlikely that it is going to happen. "

Microsoft can be a real pain in the ass sometimes.
Anyway... I dont care either way. I'm not really into playing MMOs on console.
This is good for ps3 owners that dont have up to date PCs though.

Good, I fried 2 X360's playiing XI, it was a huge piece of shit. PS2 was so much more reliable even though it was older, and had fallen off a tall dresser before! XD

Eh, has nothing to do with the closed nature of XBox Live...Microsoft are just being as greedy as ever and want to charge anyone playing a multiplayer game a gold subscription too on top of the monthly fee to play FFXIV. I don't know why they have to do this as they already have FFXI running on a silver account, so just do the same for FFXIV.
Anyway, I don't really give a frack...I have a very expensive high-end gaming PC of which I'll be playing FFXIV on so screw the console versions, especially since the texture are only 1/4 that of PC and only half the resolution....how much worse would it be on XBox 360 if you use the FFXIII comparisons as a guide. {Since FFXIII uses the same Crystal Tools Engine}

Tanaka: It won’t look very different. Of course, 3D Surround won’t be an option. (laughs) The textures are about ¼ of the size and the resolution is about half. However, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell much of a difference by just looking at them.
Closed environment. They want to seperate the live community from the ps3/pc community.
They probably want to advertise all over the game too.
In my humble opinion i dont believe that Xbox360 should ever have FFXIV on thier console. My reasoning is that if they want to have final fatnasy games then we should get halo games onto PS3. Or if Wii wants to have FFXIV then we should get zelda games on ps3. IT CANNOT BE A ONE WAY TRADE! we should we have not give up our FFgames which pretty much makes up a playstion system, and they dont have to give up anything!!!!. THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!. I bought Playstation because i like rpg games such as Finalfatnasy.
Another big discussion is that the PS3 is advanced or superior to the xbox360 and the wii. The blue ray is the way of the future. So why downgrade a game to put it into antoher console. Also xbox has xbox live that they have to pay a monthly subscription, why would i pay for the xbox live and pay for FFXIV at the same time, makes absolutly no sense. Thats why PS3 is the best console out there.
IN MY humble opinion all the games should be givingen to PS3 just have ONE CONSOLE! in my opinion, LES HEADACHE omg. so then gamers have one console to play on and thats it. however i understand that this is not good because we need compition to drive down prices and to make better games due to pressuare. okay so i kinda contradicted my own point...
PS3 for life thats all i gotta say lolz. sry for the post being so long and confusing lolz =P just had to rant a bit, i feel better now. XD

No big loss. I wouldn't want the game looking all crappy looking on the 360. Seems the game will be headed to the appropriate platforms.
You're forgetting it's also heading for the PS3 which is just as crappy as the Xbox 360.

Guess you never played on a PS3 before. I played on both consoles and games look way better on the ps3.

Actually I have noticed this as well. My PS3 games look a lot better than my 360 games (PS3 hardware is a deal better). It really depends on if you are using an HDTV or not, PS3 is more for HD gaming. I could see where it wouldn't be much of a difference if you aren't playing in 1080p though.
