Hey all,
I just posted that the lack of jumping is irritating to me personally, but it won't prevent me from checking this game out if there are a decent amount of features. I have enjoyed Final Fantasy for a long time (at least until Uematsu stopped making music on them), and my interest has been picking up on this game. For all the MMOs I have sunk time into, I always avoided FF11 for some reason, most likely due to the fact story has always been the primary draw for me with the series.
Right now, I am in an MMO slump, and nothing seems to get me excited about the genre anymore. I know the genre by far has the most potential for fun, but I just can't find it anywhere. I'm no saint, but the communities and chatlogs in some of these games are just awful nowadays. The gameplay experiences themselves have brought me to the point where I just downright don't have fun playing anymore. I've went to the FF14 site, but it's just the usual blowage of smoke around my nether regions. What are the really great things about this game?
What is it bringing to the table that is new/fun/different?
What is the leveling experience going to be like?
Etc.
I'm not sure if its too premature for an answer to some of this stuff, but I'd just like to hear what some of the fans/definite buyers of this game have to say and why they can't miss it.

It's different.
There's the SE 'touch' so it doesn't feel like other MMO's you may have played.
They're bringing back the social environment. The game is an adventure more than a race to the top. It depends on you if you can change the mindset that all the fun stuff is at the end-game. It's not the case. Journey > Destination. And yes, there is a story. Just like there was in XI, but more epic.
I'm tired to make long posts about the features this game will have, but check out the "Gameplay" thread on this forum, which is somewhere on the 1st or 2nd page. I made a long post there about magic classes and combat in particular.
If you have to be "sold" on a game...don't play it. As for me, I will grab it because FF is the only fantasy based game franchise I have ever really liked. I've played FFXI on and off since release and all the console versions and have truly enjoyed all my FF adventures.
There are just too many gaming options to worry about being "sold" on anything. If you're playing because of someone else's reasons, you're not going to enjoy it as much as something else you are playing for your reasons.
Read the available information from SE and make your own decision. Or wait till after release for any possible trials and check it out then. No-one is going to give an unbiased opinion on the game, especially on this site.
I didn't really need an unbiased opinion- a massive proponent of it would suffice, but I'll check the Gameplay thread.
Being sold on it is just my street talk, for lack of a better subject heading. If I didn't have an innate interest in the game and franchise, I wouldn't have posted anything at all.
Anyhow, thanks for the feedback.
Everything about this game appeals to me, the lore, the graphics, the classes, the skillup system, the only thing that has me holding back is the Combat Pace.
I am not saying it should be as fast as some other MMO's, it is still Final Fantasy, but so far all the Demo's ive seen, even after seeing the beta footage, I am concerned.
Time will tell, beta is just around the corner.
I think it's already as fast as it could possibly be without being as fast as other MMO's >_>
