Some people who play MMO's scare me. I just dont understand how someone can get so engrossed in an MMO to the point it consumes them every hour of every day. I play STO and there is a guy on the boards who is just fascinating to watch. I cant figure out if he works for Cryptic or is just so addicted to the game that he has no life. Here is an average posting day for this guy:
9-10am = 2 posts
10-11am = 7 posts
11-12pm = 2 posts
12-1pm = 5 posts
1-2pm = 7 posts
2-3pm = 2 posts
3-4pm = 3 posts
4-5pm = 3 posts
5-6pm = 5 posts
6-7pm = 0 posts
7-8pm = 1 post
8-9pm = 2 posts
9-10pm = 2 posts
10-11pm = 2 posts
11-12am = 4 posts
Total posts on STO boards = 54
Now this information is for June 28 but this guy does this every day and averages over 50 posts on the STO forums per day starting at 9:00am and running until midnight. I understand he is a fan of the game but holy mackeral, posting just about every hour of every day you are awake is just freaky. I know he loves the game but this boarders on obsession. If you check the STO boards, there are not that many new posts going up every day. Now also factor in the time it takes to read over the boards and decide where to post at.
It does not matter if you love a game of hate it, check your posting history and ask yourself if you are spending too much time in a virtual world. Now imagine if you spent that time focusing on your family, your job or your finances.

I play a lot of games, and I'm rarely ever on forums... I'm usually on forums to pass time while I'm mellowing out from a GG or even a bad game.
Key is time management. If you can fit "real life" and "real life" things into your gaming schedule and not have it clash, then why the hell not make 50 posts a day? Personally, the most demanding thing in my real life is military school. If I'm doing well and getting all my assignments out on time, then why the hell shouldn't I be able to play my games?
xD just my 2 cents.
Eh it is a bit much but you have to consider that now it is so easy to access and post
Alot of people do this from work daily as their jobs have gaps of time to be filled and they have a computer sitting right in front of them
Me personally I can check things from my Iphone wherever I am, be it a long red light, waiting in a drive through line, or at the airport.

I haven't played STO, but damn, it must suck hard if its biggest fan spends 15 hours a day posting on the forums instead of playing the game.
What's more intersting to find out is how/why you ran such a check on the guy... lol.
QFT, LOL
Iam on this site all the time.
Why?
Because I have no real life friends. So whats the point of going outside?

Shit... Eve online actually has a browser in game that cna connect to mmorpg.com so i can post while killing shit lol.
Never judge anyone by post activity.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
What he said. Plus like someone else had said, if they are able to have a real life while gaming then why not.
So basically, it's not so much understanding how a guy can love an MMO so much to post that many times on the forums... it's more of, why do you care so much to check how often he does it and make a thread on it. ._o
Man... That dude just won the internet. To get someone to waste their time actually counting posts is freaking epic. Who is this guy i wanna toss him on friends because he truly got under your skin for you to even give a shit about his post activity.

I know cypher freaks out when I point out that EQ1 lost 250,000 subs to WoW pretty much overnight, that SWG was losing 10,000 subs to WoW each month, and that DAoC was destroyed by WoW.
.
And that the biggest forms of advertising for WoW was the EQ1, SWG, and DAoC general chats.
.
I mean abnormally so.

He also has more than one alias.

We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." I fed this into my Creepy Meter,™ and here were the results:
Guy who posts all day on a message board (Creepy Scale 3 of 10) x 2 because it is a STO board = 6
-v-
Guy who tracks the amount that a stranger posts on message board, and then writes about it on some other message board complete with posting log (Creepy Scale 8 of 10).
It's close but OP wins.
