My answer to the poll would be "none of the above". My preference is not listed. I prefer a predominatly objective based PvP. Simple deathmatches are dull and uninteresting. Fighting over territory, or a capture the flag, or some other form of contest with a point... Much more interesting. Whether it's realm on realm, faction based, or guild vs guild... doesn't really matter. What matters is the content of the PvP. Fighting over something is more fun than just fighting.
Important facts: 1. Free to Play games are poorly made. 2. Casuals are not all idiots, but idiots call themselves casuals. 3. Great solo and group content are not mutually exclusive, but they suffer when one is shoved into the mold of the other. The same is true of PvP and PvE. 4. Community is more important than you think.
I prefer open world pvp... I remember the good old days in WoW when at any given time there was a big battle raging bertween southshore and tauren mill... and usually one somewhere around astranaar in kalimdor.
Some patch or another ruined that, and I just never really liked the newer incarnations of PVP in WoW. I played the shit out of it anyway though.
I voted 'Open PvP' but I like it to have a rule set that discourages ganking. Like the Karma system in Lineage II. Open PvP without any rule set just devolves into a gankfest. Also it should have a very robust guild system with a way for guilds to formally ally with others and declare open war on enemy guilds/alliances. Also there should be real reasons for PvP like territory control in the actual persistant open game world.
When you say, "Open PvP", do you mean Free For All?
I like Open world RvR. Species vs. Species to be more particular. I would like to see another game with 3 or more factions come around soon
Also, what is the difference between guild vs guild and Siege Wars, or even Faction Wars, for that matter? Guild vs Guild and Faction Wars can both be Arena Battles or Duels, in my view. If it's instanced it's not open, obviously. Not trying nitpick, I'm just not really sure where I fit in here.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
FFA Open World with minor restrictions ala' UO (pre-tram)
Mordred DAoC was the last pvp game I actually felt was challenging, I've been getting my pvp kicks from Dota and dota esque games nowadays since no MMO can give me that challenge anymore.
Shadowbane, and some other PvP games that have come out since never really did it for me as there was always some aspect of quality left out.

I've always enjoyed duels over any other type of PvP, simply because of the whole mano y mano feeling.
I just find it more enjoyable than a massive orgy of people running through each other spamming stuff.
Faction style, but at minimum 3 factions - like Dark Age of Camelot.
ganking
Yea i like Faction V Faction.
Which is more or less me solo in a base vs a faction for as long as I can holdout.

TRF - GM - GW2, PS2, WAR, AION, Rift, WoW, WOT....etc...
Future Crew - High Council. Planetside 1 & 2.
i like somewhat even playing fields. duels and team based are my favorite. atlantica online and wizard 101 come to mind.
Territory driven.
Like Shadowbane.
You build a city, run a guild or make it a nation. You want to expand , well you got to move other people out of your way.
All other PvP.. meh
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.

I prefer pvp games like CounterStrike or Starcraft, where your PVE gear doesn't mean anything when you're fighting me.
