Budget PC Recommendation

Hi guys I want to make a budget gaming PC for playing MMO's and RTS games.

This is the confid I have chosen for my PC, what do you guys think about.

The ATI Raedon HD 4850 is going for the same price as the 5670. Which one do you guys think will be better for playing MMOS. I am not a graphics buff, I am more than happy to play most of my games at medium to high settings and I don't bother with AA. 

I mostly play AOC, I was wondering if the PC I am making can play this game close to max settings. I am on a really tight budget so I won't be able to go higher than my current selection for the rig.

    hey, if you don't need DX 11 choose hd 4870 1GB, this card is much better than 5670 (128 bit and 512 ram is not so cool if you use high resolution) or 4580 (you sure it is 4580 and not 4850?)

    Go with the 4850 and 1GB, the 5670 can't handle most games on DX11 with great settings anyways. But AoC is DX10, if they have released that yet. But that rig should play the game on pretty good settings.

     

    That rig is faster than the current one I have and I was able to max the settings on DX9 AoC. As mentioned, dunno if  Funcom has implemented DX10 for the game yet. But even then, you should be able to max it out on DX9 and the game still looks great.

    I'd personally go Antec or OCZ for the PSU.  Cooler Master has a solid rep with their cases, not so much so with their PSUs.

    An Antec Earthwatts 650 would hit a good price/quality point (rated 80+ too so it's rather efficient).

    I suggest you go to Newegg.com. I built my PC there for under $700. I'm not going to start a rig posting war, but my pc can handle any game out today and future as well. :D!

    You're setup is very similiar to mine that I've build a while ago (even the same casing haha)

     

    Will you play on max resolutions? Because I do, and here we differ, I choose Radeon 5770 (from Gigabyte) just because it's performance is better in higher resolutions, so if you run in high native res I would reccomend it. I had tight budget so I had to cut something and choose X3 procesor (since almost all games still use only two cores so not a big deal). I know I've spent much time on diffrent benchmarks to choose 'the best possible' option to my budget.

    One thing for sure, 4850 is overall much better than 5670 - don't even look at the feature of dx11 that it offers, it's just marketing catch, so if you'll have to choose definitely pick up the 4850 (although it's power usage is much higher haha).

    Despite the horrible experience we all had with DX10 (largely thanks to Nvidia's affect on the market), DX11 is certainly not just marketing. That said, a 5650/5670 isn't going to be powerful enough to take advantage of the added features that DX11 affords anyways (for instance, tesselation), so the 4850 is a much better pick.

    That said, if you're in for $90+ for a 5670, why not spend a mere $30 more and get a 5750? That ought to perform inline with or better than the 4850, and give DX11 functionality. Newegg's got a Powercolor one up right now that's only about $125, and only $105 after MIR.

    IMO spend a few more dollars and get a better video card. A friend of mine has a similar rig and uses a 5750. He can run most everything on high settings. AoC high settings on Dx9 which looks great.

    For a gaming rig its worth an extra $50 bucks or so for decent video.

    Just my opinion.

    Completely agree. Just try to go for a 5750 first and foremost; I think the video card is the most important component you have on a gaming rig.
