I am curious how a lot of this discussion is not breaking the NDA.  Unless I am reading it incorrectly, even mentioning that you are in beta is against the Beta Tester Agreement.

First of all, you would be surprised at how many people use the same screen names.  Second, that is not the point.  It is about following the rules when you are given the opportunity to participate in testing.  Of course I do realize that it is probably a difficult task for many to actually do what they are supposed to.

My point here is not that individuals are breaking the NDA, but that there are NDA breaking discussions going on in general.

Or think of it this way.....if SE had a distribution system that would allow someone with a 10 meg connection to download better than 25 kbs and it takes 60+ hours, then this discussion would not be going on.

but if they had more direct download they wouldnt be invinting this many people because it would cost more money so deal with it and be glad you got an invite

so what there only discussing client download speeds

  • knyghttearerknyghttearer Member Posts: 124

that sucks averageing 20kbs .. how long is ur beta test schedualled for? do u only have the weekend or is it going to be ongoing?>

  • CharlizdCharlizd Member UncommonPosts: 923

When does the actual CB start? maybe connections are being deliberately throttled?? who know's but like others have said you got an invite, suck it and be happy that you even will be able to test it, heck i got no invite but i can tell you this if i did get one i wouldn't be whining like some of you in here because your client does not download fast enough.

Just relax and let it do it's thing, go play another game, take a walk, get laid i don't care but please stop complaining because you have lousy download speeds to a game that plenty of us would love to test but can't and just rubbing it in that you will soon be able to play.

Also, depending on the company and the contect of the NDA, you can mention that you are in a beta as well as things such as download speeds without it being considered a breach of NDA. Some companies only care if you mention the actual in game experience or beta forum material.

But, even if the company allows it, some sites may have a strict 'No ANYTHING beta' policy in place, where they don't even want people to make mention of being in beta or alluding to it.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

I admit that I do see your point about the download.  But that still does not change the fact that the majority of this thread is people breaking the NDA by talking about being in beta.  I suppose it really does not matter much because people will do it regardless of the rules and most likely nothing will be done about it.  I just think it is interesting, that is all.

Nah almost everyone did that I guess, I did.

edit: btw the servers aren't up much, can't say more without breaking nda but just try to get in before the next beta;  for now it is purely testing the most basic stuff.

    • Same screenname

    • Additional content of posts you've made

    • Asking mmorpg.com for the IP address (or other info) of your post

    • Phishing you with a PM or email

    • Social engineering your friends and family

    etc.

But really its about having some self respect and honor when it comes to keeping your word. Yeah strange concept I know, to hold oneself to I higher standard than "It's ok becuase I think I can get away with it".
