I'd say this is more about a disrigard of an insigificant rule. Still it is an agreement and if you break it you break it I guess, don't see any harsh punishment needed for it though xD
And most people do break small rules and agreements everyday, I mean some arn't just made for keeping ^^
The download is almost nonexistance anyways so I can't really say anything about it, since it's not there!
Funny...the person criticizing the discussion about download speeds links the NDA to discuss breaking the NDA.....hmm, isn't linking the NDA a declaration you are in beta and therefore a violation of the NDA? Just saying...
First, it is not necessarily the download links I am talking about, but the fact that people are talking about getting into beta, which is one of the capitalized sections in the agreement. As for linking the Beta Tester Agreement, it is publicly available on the Square Enix website in the support center.

I am not talking about trying to get people punished. I am simply pointing out how much of this discussion is breaking the NDA even by talking about being in beta. If anyone actually read the Beta Tester Agreement, which is the FIRST thing you need to do before applying for beta, they would know the rules. The fact that people are then sitting here breaking one of SE's highlighted rules in the agreement goes to show that people either did not read it or they do not care about the rules. In my experience, many people who fall into either of those categories are not truly interested in contributing to testing but just want a free preview of the game before anybody else. This is a big point to those in game development and who are serious testers because it slows down the process.
It is called respect and integrity; you agree to do something and you do it. I know it is a lot to ask of people in the online community but believe me, many people do feel this way about the things that they do with their lives.

Companies who want SERIOUS beta testers that arent just looking for a preview of the game will HIRE REAL beta testers. Free testers like the people in this thread are more often used for testing server load and making sure things dont break in half when a moderate amount of people log in and start doing things.
Lets face it, the public beta system is and has been a joke for a long time. In the vast majority of games beta has become a way to interest new players, not a way to test the game. If they actually get ANY testing out of the public beta other than load testing, thats great! But expecting people to do quality work for free who arent just looking for a preview? Thats asking an awful lot from the average player.

Unfortunately many developers are not going to pay mass amounts of beta testers in later stages. I totally agree with you that the beta system is a joke. It is sad too, because that makes it harder for those of us who take testing games seriously.

I already admitted to realizing that point in an earlier post. I started out by just wanting to point out the fact but it turned into more of an issue than I intended.

I've been looking for information regarding open beta since I didn't have any luck with closed beta and haven't been able to find anything confirming nor denying an open beta.
Anyone have any information on this? Will there be an open beta? If so any idea when?

What we get from this thread: it seems hard to be in beta, but it seems even harder not to be in!

Thanks in advance.
in FFXI you had to adjust the camera all the time, if you move left, the camera stayed in the old position.
Hope its not like that in FFXIV.
It has a chase cam.
To be the best, you must help each other become the best.
FFXI Character: Satimasu
FFXI Server: Valefor
FFXIV Character: Tamorae Fonteil
