Allods or Runes of Magic?

Looking for opinions only from people who have played both. I am willing to pay up to $15 a month(typical fee) but no more. Just wondering which you recomend.

I played both of these and none have appealed to me personally.

I got bored of Runes of Magic early on (Got tired of gridning mobs) and got stuck at lvl 25 in Allods due to the 21-27 leveling zone being a battleground where I get pwned when I leave base.

You don't have to pay for any of these.

I played RoM alot from beta until shortly after i reached lev50.  I absolutely loved the game but quickly realized i couldnt afford to play the game the way i wanted to.  Diamonds get real expensive.

Thats not really true.. In Allods you will have to pay to make any type of real progression and/or raiding come in-game. It's pay or farm for an endless amount of time.

Runes of Magic is entirely playable without having to purchase anything. But again you are going to end up grinding at some point. Also if you entirely want to spend no money on the game, you can do there daily 4-5 questioniers and get free Diamonds.

Both games have good graphics with Allods being only slightly better.

It's hard to pick one of the two since they are both good F2P games. Allods would be the best choice if it wasnt for the fact that the dev team / publisher want to force you to spend large amounts of money to progress in the game. Where with Runes of Magic they offer you options and do not force you into a endless grind / spending real money on the game system to progress.

The problem in allods has been reversed: before you'd get ganked in AT (the aforementioned "battleground") now everyone has left, cuz of the new patch which requires that money be spent (although w/ the current event you can get free stuff). I suggest Aika

They are both pretty cashshop heavy games, but imo RoM is much kinder.

I've actually only played RoM to lv35/35 so far, but it's been a breeze so far and havn't ever once felt the need to spend a dime. Although I have heard the "horror" stories about how difficult it becomes at high levels, seems as if any new content they release has the difficulty scaled with full cashshop users in mind.

But I think really all depends on which 2 classes you choose to play, personally after experimenting a bit I found that a Warden/Anything really helped make things I struggled with before much easier.

I used to hate RoM, but I came back over a year later and I am really enjoying myself in the game now. The only problem is that they have been experiencing some problems since the patch, and I lag whenever I am in cities (I'm also a bit disappointed they took out diamond trade, but people can still sell diamonds by gifting them).

Allods is a quality game and I really liked it at first, but the combat pacing is way too slow in my opinion. RoM has a lot of features I really enjoy, I already have some friends on there and it has a very active community, and despite what I've heard reading on forums about *having* to spend big bucks to be competitive end game in PvE or PvP, people that I've talked to in game have told me that you do not have to spend anything to be competitive.

TLDR: My vote is for Runes of Magic.

PVE might be quite slow, and so is everything until you have more active skills, what lvl did you play to, and what class?

15 and priest. It would be funner leveling in a group maybe, but I lost patience with trying to get people.

Honestly, I'll go with the game that doesn't punish its playerbase at every possible turn it can, which instantly means go with Runes of Magic.

As several other people have mentioned in other topics, the further you get into Allods, the more heavily the damage nerf applies to you, til the point where the only way to really survive a mob even a level or two BELOW you requires a certain cash shop consumable. Same goes with pvp. Plus, you will be forced to pay real cash to get the special items to de-curse any loot you find that you want to use.

1st: @aero/everyone: PVE is pretty slow until Heroics/astral (=endgame=1/2 the game) on the other hand as soon as you get to the contested pvp zone: pvp is pretty fast paced. Another thing is MH (melee healer)is the slowest class: its a 3 button mash. All other classes are better.

@ cursed: my lvl 29 summoner can beat mobs 2 lvls above it after the latest patch... its hard, but doable, it just requires a good build.
