They freak out when you are on headset talking to other guys while leading 200 ops into battle. They freak out when people want to video your battles, interview you in person, or hang out at a real life guild party.

Then there is the hurt pride. They get mad if you are better at pvp, they get mad if the guild elects you as leader and not them, they get mad and log out if they are lying on the ground  dead while you kill the entire opposing team solo while the rest of the dead team cheers you on. That is no fun even when you rrevive them 5 times before you have no choice but to handle the situation on your own.

If anything it is harder to be a girl gamer and play with someone who cannot hold their own on the same level.  Guys are so needy, and if you don't " let them win" sometimes they pout like a little kid.

To make it worse, when you get pj'd or jumped after a long harsh battle by some creeps taking advantage of your weakened state, rather than supporting you the guy says " Ha!" like it was a good thing. Like he was actually happy someone finally killed you. And thenn he thinks he should get some lovin after that? LMAO!

you have just had bad luck with men lol, most are not like this at all

Hehe. Well, I'm also a girl gamer... here's my two cents-

I've never "lived" with anyone except college dorm roommates but my boyfriends have always spent a good amount of time in my room waiting for me to finish whatever the hell I was doing in game. My current boyfriend is the only guy that has ever DARED to physically pull me off my computer... but since it was for a good reason, I forgave him. (His friend works at the movies and after hours, the guy snuck my boyfriend, his friends, and me into a midnight viewing of Predator, which was a funny movie.) However, I did chew his ear off for it and told him- never again. He seems unfazed by the fact that I'm constantly PM'd by male clan mates and that all my teams are all-male with the exception of myself.

However, my last boyfriend of 7 months... VERY jealous. A clan mate saw potential for me to be good at BFBC2 but I couldn't afford it at the time. He offered to buy it for me without letting me protest. My boyfriend walked in while I was installing the game and asked when I bought him. I explained to him that my clan mate wanted me to play and dropped teh 50 bucks on it for me. He instantly accused me of having an e-boyfriend and declared that no guy would ever drop 50 bucks on a random girl over the internet if he wasn't expecting a little "something something" in return. The guy never asked for anything "extra" and he sincerely just got it for not only me but for another guy clan mate as well. My ex was pretty pissed about it for a week. Also, if anyone has ever played an RTS and understands laning, I once yelled, "I'M ON TOP!" over voice chat, in reference to wanting the top lane, and my ex chewed me out for making "sexual comments" for about the duration of the whole game.

To comment on deviliscious' post, I have a thing where I keep gaming and my personal relationships apart. If you're going to date me, and God forbid we are e-dating, you will leave the clan or you will resign from any position in my team. You will keep away from me on a competitive level, except for friendly in-house scrims with friends. I can not work with someone I'm dating. I'm gonna toot my own horn here a bit and say I'm damn good at FPS games and I'm a grinding machine for MMORPG's. I function on 2 hours of sleep just fine (ha! military school did something for me! insomnia FTL! or win... however you look at it) and most people can't keep up with me in terms of leveling in MMORPG's.

My male clan mates have always been very supportive. However, I did notice that they take care not to ever really compliment me too much or tell me I did a good job unless I do something EPIC. Girl gamers work 3x as hard to gain half the respect. Again, military school which is a similar environment. Girls here are rare, but the few of us that ARE here, we have to outshine the guys by a significant amount to get noticed. Still, there's this little satisfying feeling when guys tell me to get back in the kitchen and I take out at least more than half of the team by myself. Something very satisfying about having the highest KDR.

I never cared if a guy clanmate "left me to die." I always looked at it as- unless I'm coming to save your ass, you have the choice whether you want to save mine. If I put myself in a place where I can get raped, it's my own fault and lack of situational awareness. If I'm coming to save your ass and you leave me to die, then that's where we have a problem.

    Okie. I'm done ranting. ^^

Wow. Aren't you overly generalising? I don't recognise myself and many of my friends in any of the things you wrote. All I see you writing is 'they' this and 'men' that. Talk about being twisted, or at least having a very twisted view of men.

LOL hard to twist something that is already so twisted.image Just because you , as a male do not see it doesn;t make it non existant. I have dealt with MANY men, from many different backgrounds and cultures. The dominant male syndrome is not limited to one " type " of man. Men are demanding, needy, and have major control issues. They think they have some sort of right to tell a woman what to do. Even when a man tries to fight this urge, they still let it seep out in their actions. They have this " I need to be the boss of you" complex and take great issue with being told what to do. Either they have to control or they are completely spineless. I have never met someone " in between".  They may exist, but there are in such a minority on this planet, they do not represent the male population.  If you do not see that, you are in denial. LOL!

    Meh. It's all about attitude.

Men will always rip on women when theres a woman in a male dominant community. Either that or they'll play "who-can-get-nudes-from-her-first."

I found that if I always just shut up, do my thing, and be unfazed by their trolling, they learn to respect me and accept me as a fellow gamer, and not just, "that chick."

My gaming clan at the moment swears that my picture isn't really me and that I use a voice morpher and that I really have a penis.

The road to being a respected female gamer is a long one. You work 3x as hard for half the respect, but it pays off. ^_^ But I notice that girls that have a bad attitude, no matter how good they are, men dont respect them or want to play with them because they ruin the game.

I have learned just the opposite. No man has the right to make you feel as though you should shut up at any time. I have found that kicking their ass makes for a much better lesson learned on their part. Then tell them they were beat by a girl, and then tell them to now go home and cry to their mommies and to grow some balls. That is usually wayy more effective and a quicker lesson learned as to whether or not women deserve respect.

In the world of PVP, respect is earned  by beating them down like the dog who stole the TV guide, not being nice. image

This road is much shorter, not long at all. Usually it is quite quickly a rude awakening for them. If a male thinks that women need them in  game in any way they are sadly mistaken. I would rather have them fear me than pitty me.

Beating them down and making them cry is the only way some of them know how to learn. You think that doesn;t earn you respect? I was elected Guild leader of a 600 member guild for my in game ability. I didn;t even want to be guild leader, they didn;t even ask me if I would do it, they just posted it on the site and told me to go look .. LOL- sometimes you get more respect than you even want to deal with lol. That was the biggest headache of my entire gaming experience.

It also appears that you are in the wrong " clan". Get with a guild in your area, where you can hang for real with real gamers and people can get to know you for real instead of dealing with a bunch of punks who tell you BS to try to get you  nekkid on cam. LOL

It is a much better in game experience when you play with friends in and out of games.

This road is much shorter, not long at all. Usually it is quite quickly a rude awakening for them. If a male thinks that women need them in  game in any way they are sadly mistaken. I would rather have them fear me than pitty me.

I forget where this quote is from, but, "There are times when silence has the loudest voice." My tagline, since I was 13, was always, "Silent. Deadly. Beautiful."

No. No man has the right to make me feel as if I need to shut up. I keep my mouth shut because I don't like starting shit. I'm a rather passive person and people only ever see my fire when a self proclaimed "pro" picks on a new player or when someone picks on a friend/clanmate/teammate. I have done complete 180's and shocked people by how loud and angry- and violent- I can get.

You seem to think that all men out there want to control women and shut women up. Your world is like that, but mine isn't. No man can hurt me because I don't really care what they think. I'm an FPS chick and I recently started up in RTS- where the female population is a lot smaller than some other types of games, mainly MMORPG and Korean-made games.

You seem to really really care about what men think of you- noting from "I have found that kicking their ass makes for a much better lesson learned on their part. Then tell them they were beat by a girl, and then tell them to now go home and cry to their mommies and to grow some balls. That is usually wayy more effective and a quicker lesson learned as to whether or not women deserve respect." I don't mean to pick on you, but that almost sounds like insecurity on your part. I look at men as my equal, my teammates, my partners. I am a part of an all female team and we get along great. We are all respected because we're "cool." We don't need to rip on people or "telling them them were beat by a girl and go home and cry to their mommies and grow some balls." It is known in the community that we're the girls in our league- small in numbers but still powerful. We're respected because we're good. We don't need to toot our own horns and degrade anyone. That's like... the big bad boy in 5th grade picking on kids during recess- and for no reason. It's unnecessary and bad sportsmanship. Okay. You won the game and beat a guy. But your shitty attitude gives the rest of us a bad name. You represent a female gaming community and if a guy is like, "Jeez, wtf is her problem. It's just a game." he's going to think there's more of you around.

Fear doesn't come from someone blabbling insults. Fear comes from the unknown. Trolls are annoying, not feared. People kick trolls not because theyre good, but because no one wants to hear it. If a guy came up to me in game and said "OH HAHAHA I BEAT YOU LOLOLOL GRLZ SUCK" I'm not going to feel defeated and I'll be damned if any of the guys I play with get butthurt that I beat em in a game cause I'm a girl. They look at me as an equal. I would HATE for a guy teammate to look at me as a "girl." Look at me as a gamer. 98% of my friends in games didn't know I was a girl. I stay silent in games and I usually type. Then they add me to games, get to know me, and shock! Holy crap it's really a girl! And it usually comes with a, "Damn, you're probably the coolest chick I know."

My clan is fine. My laid back attitude and the lack of drama I bring to my clan and how I handle myself makes them say to me, "You are NOTHING like the other girls we have here." They've all video conferenced me on webcam (we had like... a dress up mini cosplay night... lame yeah, was fun!) so they definitely know I'm a chick. But they respect me and game with me because I'm passive and I don't let little things bother me. Great. A guy wants to tell me to get in a kitchen. Let him. I let my AK-47 do the talking. I won't waste my breath.

    My 3 cents.

I think you misunderstand.  My heart too belongs to FPS, but for the most part my best friends are all male with the exception of my long time best friend from school that we are still very close, more than my 5 sisters.

I hang out in real life with men, in good humor we all talk alot of shit to each other and play pranks on one another. It may be a different world than you are accustomed to, but I hang with my male friends as " one of the guys" and yes they respect that in game I will royally beat the snot out of them if they annoy me. The gloating, " flaming" is all part of the fun, it is in Jest and WE ALL DO IT to each other in person, on headset and in game.  No we do not do " emo drama crap" but we do enjoy diss'ing each other in fun.

Yes, I may sing songs about them having a bent penis while killing them, but that is all in good fun, it is part of the humor in it all, not anything truly mean.  I do not feel as though " you are picking on me" but your assessment is a bit off. The Dising that men do is in " fun" and to dis them in return is all in fun, not " a bad sport" as you see it.  It goes both ways, and often have made some of my life long friendships from this. I also don;t think your Cosplay is lame, It would be nice if you posted some pics on it. Many of us enjoy dressing up, for me it is only on halloween and special events, but it is fun.

Now you are the one who said that people in your clan accused you of not being you and accused you of using a voice morpher- which is why I said you were in the wrong clan. People use lame comments like that in an attempt to get you to cam nude, and usually for no other reason. My guild was formed on Campus at the University of Texas in Austin with students attending the school, so we actually hang out in person and in game which is quite a bit larger than a small guild, but more fun in and out of game. Some of my guild members use this forum as well. We play a multitude of games together, and go from game to game as a guild.

The comments from men go both ways, I do not get " angry" about them, It is all in good fun. I have made many of my friends in and out of game that first started with a dis'ing contest. But that is having a good sense of humor,  the more creative the dis, the funnier it is.  This is just how we do things.

The fear does not come from the insults it comes from player skill. I can;t tell you the number of times I saw " oh shit log log " on the screen when they saw me coming. I would rather them be afraid to fight me than think I am a pushover on the battlefield. I never get angry in battle, it is pure reflex. I never kill players in anger- lol it is just a game, no for me it is a sport. It is relaxing entertainment to crank up the music and let it flow on the field. It is a natural thing, not intense at all.

I am not angry or violent- that would be mental over a game, instead I just go into a " killing zone" and don;t let up until I am finished.  It is a relaxing thing to me to kill other players in game, no anger involved.

No one I would want to talk to would take the game that personally, my friends actually enjoy the abuse. I have no anger if I get beat on the battlefield, Some of us are just " freaky" that way. LOL

I am far from being a " loud and angry" person- there is no point in all that. Having a good sense of humor about it makes the game much more enjoyable for everyone involved.

In all honesty, those that are quiet in battle and then just say " GF" afterwards are pretty boring people. * yawn* I love it when they flame me, it is much more entertaining.
