They haven't said anything about lets say user name account. Like lets say you buy the PC version and later decide to buy the PS3 version and want to add that under the same user name and account we don't know if that will be allowed. What we do know is that if you have the PC version and want to access your PC characters from the PS3 version thats not gonna happen.
Highly unlikely there even will be a console version.
Why do you think that? They have already started taking pre-orders for both versions, the beta has been announced for both, and the box art and such has started being shown for them.
Has any mmo successfully launched a console version?

Fair enough. I would think console players would be a some level of disadvantage simply because of the control possibilities of keyboard & mouse.

This is an article from Sony Insider at Gamescon 2009. It clearly states that not only will there be no sub but that it will also be cross platform. It also states that you will be able to access your character whether on a PS3 or a PC.
I am hoping that they end up being two distinctly different games as far as PC version only works on a PC and PS3 version only works on a PS3 just for the simple fact that if they do it that way the PC version could be more robust, not having to stick to the limitations of console.

Yep, that is now all false and why DCUO dropped in popularity a lot lol. They said one thing and everyone was hyped. It looked to be the Mecca of free to play games.
After the current info was released it's viewed by most as another Champions Online and with it being SOE people are fully expecting that SOE cash shop to come which was one of the larger complaints about CO lol. If it were free to play still a lot could be justified. With it being p2p they better launch DCUO in great shape item mall free or an item mall with nothing that has any impact on game play. Otherwise we will likely be seeing yet another flop.
That monthly sub adds an expectation on quality that I don't think DCUO will be able to meet.

Yeah that was misquoted and retracted as soon as it was stated, this is an MMO dude they change as fast as the wind depending on what people want and what business forces them to do, for instance Jens said the monday before E3 they were still considering crossing servers but waiting for the OK from Sony's higher ups, 2 days later they stated there would NOT be cross server play. You need to stay up to date and quit quoting stuff from last year.

This saddens me. I was hoping they would overlap

FFXI
Also, Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe.
Not to mention the playable demos have been on the PS3 at the last few shows.

And that article is a year old and things can change in a moment. No cross-platform play, 14.99 monthly fee atm.

In other words, more open world, less instances.
Time will tell.
