General: Transformers MMO Announced

Asian game developer, NetDragon, has announced that a new MMO based on the Transformers IP is currently in development and will deploy in North Africa, Asia, Russia and the Middle East sometime in 2011. The game is officially branded by Hasbro and the details are sketchy or, actually, non-existent. There is no word on Australian, European or North American versions of the game.

If they made this MMO like "War for Cybertron" with a lot of customisation and eg. planets to explore, minerals to mine, scraps to gather, huge pvp zones, racing minigame? etc it could actually be a great idea!
Ofc they would have to allow keymapping. Not like War for Cybertron...
Well if they are aiming for 3rd world countries before the developed world then I'm betting their content will be 3rd rate as well. If it was going to be a high budget clean cut game I would doubt they would release it the way they have.

I called this about a year ago, and people here laughed at me, I guess I get the last laugh now.
With these developers I am not holding my breath that it will be a great mmo.

Hasbro cheapskated that one. It doesn't even include a US release, and that company didn't even get their dungeon keeper mmo out yet. I really wanted this kind of game and its just a huge disappointment now.

Plus releasing to all those other countries instead and no Europe or North America, at least at first.
I smell a grind with robots and very little fun factor. I also doubt there'll be as much customization as one would expect in a Transformers MMO.
I bet you'll be able to choose a type of vehicle, and that vehicle has a corresponding robot in disguise.
If we're lucky, we'll be able to choose a color from a small list of them.
They're stupid not to release it in the U.S., especially after War for Cybertron actually turned out to be a fun game. Just make it similar to that and you've got a potentially successful MMO. But with the information out now, I'll go ahead and say it, too.
It's gonna fail. Maybe not financially - it'll probably stay open for a long time - but it'll fail overall, in peoples' opinions, as a game.
While I do agree with some posters that this IP has massive potential with character customization and so forth! I also have to agree with the posters that either say it's gonna flop or be a massive grind fest with little to no character customization there are gonna be a bazillion bumblebees floating around in game! And not releasing to to the top MMO markets first is not gonna help this at all.
Kinda pathetic of them to release a game (based on a IP created in the U.S.) in damn near every gaming country but the one that spawned it. But you can bet it's because Activision has the rights to publishing Transformer games in the U.S. and Hasbro is forced to outsource it's IP to make a buck or two.
I'm sitting back on this one and hoping for a huge fail. It's not like we will get a chance to play it as it will definately have IP blocks for both the U.S. and Europe (in sticking with the no US/Euro games agreement)

It does all sound very fishy. I look forward to hearing more about it though. If done right, a transformers mmo would be awesome.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
Can't say i've ever heard of an mmo planned to release in North Africa, and then also have no plans for North America/Europe lol. NA/EU are probably the 2nd biggest crowds to go after, this announcement makes no sense to me, is mmorpg blowing smoke up our @#%';s? xD
I forsee - Kill 100 enemy bots to turn cogs in to Cybertron Trainer. Cybertron Trainer will give 1 Energon Cube for them. 1000 Energon Cubes and you can turn into Compucore trainer for one Rocket Blaster. Trade in 500 rocket blasters for Cybertron robot pet..

All i can say is that its gonna be anime transformers!... more or less like the actual anime transformer show or a weird gundam knock off minus the peoples in the robots! Cant really say I would play a transformers MMO if it was released in America but this is gonna be fail either way.
Not sure if it's true, but what i've always thought is the orignal series came from japan first. I do remember having some old recordable VCR tapes as a kid, that were in japanese or something with english subs.
Not to mention - giant robots? That is right up their alley lol.
I say we nuke asia if they don't bring it to america. End of Topic.

This has to be one of the uncoolest IPs in the history of science fiction - so much so that it deserves a non-word like "uncoolest".
I thought people in Africa were starving. I guess I don't need to donate to charities if they can afford to play MMOs...

That's not Transformers, that's a transformers ripoff. The other mmo is supposed to be backed by Hasbro themselves and that site says nothing about Hasbro or transformers.
