1.3.1 arrived this morning and so far....

I love it. The NL9 became a CQC crowd control wet dream. It's a little faster than the JG and has a nice spread that will allow you to stun multiple opponents when they are close together.

OCA and N-Tec are both still nice and usable but require burst fire to achieve the accuracy they had before. Full auto spray and pray style shooting now isn't very viable. This will allow for a variety of weapons to become viable and see some play time. I personally stick to the STAR and NFAS for my lethal weapons. STAR has pray and spray 2 and savage 2, the NFAS I use is the push broom. These will far a good bit better against OCA's and N-Tecs now and I was already doing good against N-Tecs and OCAs, so this is pure win for me lol.

All in all I like the patch and YAY for less escape missions!

It doesn't feel like they balanced things much.  The NL9 still dominates play.  I thought they were going to address the matching issues with this patch, I quess that will come later.

So... they took an already overpowered ranged weapon and made it an even more overpowered weapon in close combat?

At least criminals can fight back with a... oh wait. They also nerfed the weapons that criminals fight back with!

Why not just give enforcers an "I win!" button and save everyone the trouble of playing?

Nah, they took out the I Win buttons, sounds like you were relying on them too with your "They also nerfed the weapons that criminals fight back with!" comment.

NL9 is still a 2 shot stun like it's always been, it's fire rate remained the same as it always has, the difference is that it is now a spread shot and a close quarter combat weapon. It lost it's range which is what it appears most people complained about.

They also made changes to the other 2 OP'd weapons, OCA and N-Tec. The changes on these were to make it so you didn't simply have to hold down the right mouse button to win.

Relying on the OCA? Yes. But not because it was an easy win. To the contrary, it was one of the few weapons that stood a chance in a 1-on-1 fight vs. an NL9 or or Stabba.

You didn't notice criminals desperately going through entire clips on you while you calmly stunned them with 2 or 3 shots? And now you think shotgun spread on an already OP stun weapon is fair and balanced?

The only reason the range was a complaint was that it was a 2 stun shot with a fast fire rate, now the problem will be 1. the two shot stun. 2. that spread might be OPed 3. upgrades against NTL weapons will need a serious kick in the balls (i've been saying this since day 1). Those might be some future complaints to come I honestly haven't played since the  patch so I can't offer an opinion on the NL 9 but it seems less OPed than before that range was insane even when i made a forcer and gave him an NL9 at rank 20 I knew it was unfair. Lastly simple fix for the problem FIRE RATE! fix that and I won't care about 2 or even 3 shot stun with upgrades.

RTW seems to be more interesting in finding a balance and giving the game flavor with LTL than they are just having a straight shooter.  So expect LTL to always be in the game and like almost every other game in existence that has some kind of variation between sides, it will never be properly balanced.

As for matchmaking, the only thing they wanted to address was AFK teammates and uneven numbers (not being able to get people to accept back up calls).  RTW has no interest in balancing teams by ranks, or upgrades or anything else.  The rank 17s will still have to go up against 300+...  it's insanely stupid, insanely unfair, insanely ridiculous.   Nobody likes it on either end, it's no fun to steamroll noobs and it's no fun to be steamrolled by someone you can't even kill.

vertical char progression has no business being in any PVP games.

its my main concern with getting into APB (or ANY PVP MMO), and always has been.

its totally at odds with the concept of PVP.

can't wait for the day of a pure action combat MMO that fully embraces pure real life skill based action, and entirely foregoes ALL vertical progression (anything related to combat power/effectiveness).
