the darkest / gloomiest MMORPGs

Which are the gloomiest / darkest / most grim MMORPGs?

I guess there is Bloodymare Requiem, and... ? Anything else? I guess Age of Conan to some degree as well. Anyone know any others? FE is not too cheerful either, but it's neither particularily dark as well.

    I don't know many myself, and I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that there should be more of these kinds of MMO's. They definitely are more engaging than the beaten-horse formula of the high fantasy setting that every seems to cream themselves over.

    made it to about level 30 before getting bored.  But it looks like they have done some revamping since the last time i played.

    swg is pretty gloomy. When I did still have a sub for that game , I use to get very depressed just logging into it.

    I think you got it when you said Requiem bloodymare lol. The game was designed around being gloomy and dark mood.

    Well in the history of mmorpgs it didn't get darker than EQ1 but that's probably a different darkness than what you want heh

    The areas corrupted by Sauron in Lord of the Rings Online are actually extremely gloomy.  I found them far gloomier than anything in Bloodymare for example.

    Lol - the horrors and atrocities SOE has committed on the mmo genre are far more heinous than any game could visually portray.

      I recently retried this about a month ago, still the same game, only less people playing.

     But as far as dark/gritty/gloomy atmosphere's go, Soul of the Ultimate Nation is another along those lines, starting areas are pretty bright/colorful though, but later on mostly all maps are dark (almost too dark, can't make my monitor bright enough to see clearly lol). The character and mob designs are kind of in that same spirit as well.
