Building a comp, could use some opinions.

So I want a comp that I can upgrade nicely over time as well as use now. This is what I cam up with at Cyberpower.com

  • Intel® Core™ i3-530 2.93 GHz 4M Intel Smart Cache LGA1156Asetek 510LC

  • Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan (Enhanced Cooling Performance + Extreme Silent at 20dBA)

  • Asus P7H55 Intel H55 Express Chipset DDR3 LGA1156 ATX w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA-II, 1 Gen2 PCIe, 3 PCIe X1 & 3 PCI

  • 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand)

  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 1GB 16X PCI Express

I only play StarCraft 2, WoW and Old Republic when it comes out. the price is $618. $65 of that is shipping. That is kind of over my spending limit, because of the shipping.

The system should work, but that graphics card is a lot weaker than the rest of the system. If there happened to be an option for a slower CPU and faster GPU, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Depends a lot on what you're upgrading from, I suppose.

yea, I can't afford a better Gphix card right now. But it is something I can easily upgrade in the future...

spend a few more bux and get an i5 750.  You can use it on the same build.   Unless your /extremely/ tight on cash, its going to be worth the 70 or so bux more

I wish I could voo doo. But yea, the shipping alone is $65. I heard you can over clock that gphix card really easily thow so  I aint to worried. but a new gphic card will be first thing I go for

If you're on a tight budget, then get an Athlon II X3 processor instead.  You can also save money by using the stock cooler rather than a liquid cooling system, though Cyber Power PC sometimes seems to give away liquid cooling setups at fire sale prices.  That will save you money on both the processor and motherboard.  Make sure it's a motherboard with DDR3 memory, though.

If you're getting a GeForce GT 240, make sure it's one with GDDR5 memory, not DDR3.  DDR3 will cripple it for lack of memory bandwidth.  The difference between 512 MB and 1 GB won't matter.

bad choice, its obvious u are on tight budget so why go with liquid cooling crap, just waste of money.  Go with older dual core AMD combo and DDR2 and dump rest of ur $$$ for a  better video card thats the most important part of the entire system.

    Motherboard cpu combo with ddr3:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.455981 $138

    Memory 4GB ddr3 $85

    GTX460 $200

    500w power supply Rosewill $50

    shipping $3

    total $473

Going with DDR2 rather than DDR3 doesn't save you money on the memory.  It will only save you on the motherboard if you get a DDR2 motherboard at a clearance price.  It will mean that if you try to upgrade your processor in the future, you'll be constrained by a lack of memory bandwidth, though.

Not without an optical drive, storage, or an operating system.

He can pull those parts from his old system...?

I assumed he wanted to upgrade on a budget, I posted what I thought was a good option. I suppose I should have stated that he use his old HD and optical drive originally.
