Ready For Release?

HieromancerHieromancer Member Posts: 282

Everyone keeps saying its ready for release when in reality its not. They have showed us however much, some say 25% and others say 50% but what about the other x% they still need to fix? Sure what we have seen is ready for release but the other x% is still be tested/ctritiqed by anet or ncsoft.

Picture the game going live tomorrow... we would all be happy untill we run into a problem such as a bone minion (w/e) was WAY to powerfull and took out everyone. Well this is happening at (INSERT NEW NAME HERE) and this needs to be fixed also. Well ok we just nailed about 30 minutes downtime, which I dont want, and if there is no downtime for this scenario then think of a better one that could happen...

If they put out other quests right now, lets say go find gwen at the other side of the river, but we went to the other side of the river and she wasnt there she was on the other side of the lake... we would be confused and get pissed. Lets say they had me spell out the wording or w/e for the words of ther characters... then one person or all of us would RIGHT AWAY NOTICE IT and complain, because no matter who you are if its not YOUR mistake you WILL notice it.

So now that a little discussion on why it isnt ready yet, I'm hoping people will see its not yet ready for release...

THINGS STILL NOT EVEN READY THAT WE HAVE INDEED SEEN:

~rare drops
~money
~to much salvagable goods
~character customization
~armor
~skills balancing for warrior and necro mostly
~different things for the archer
~quests and nit picks wrong with them
~trade channel/market
~ect.

^now with that list picture whats happening in the stuff we HAVNT worked out... and befor someone says RELEASE AN OPEN BETA WITH ALL STUFF FOR TESTING, I want to shoot that idea right now because the whole OMG DO YOU BELIEVE THAT adrenaline rush you get when playing this game after a BWE (with no korean in the middle hehe) is amazing...

anyways just my .2

Rare drops, money, salvagable items are easy enough to tweak. I think they'll be pretty much set after this last beta, and ready in time for release. I'm not sure I understand the point about the archers.

Trade channel/market is pretty much just opinion.. and a little script to allow people to join a trade channel would take all of 90 seconds for the basic task. Sure, they could do the link stuff and that would take awhile (unless I'm missing something logical), but there's no need for links right away. It's a very minor issue. Really, if everyone would stop scrolling like morons I wouldn't have any issue with no trade channels at all.

I agree about the class balancing and armor - however I'm not sure if they plan to put in more character customization? Well, there's still the next beta weekend left to go. It's a bit premature for a post like this.

But really, it's not necessary for us to see the entire world. Most mistakes are repeated, and when one is found I'm sure they run a fancy little script that searches their code for similar instances - and fix those as well, in the part of the game that hasn't been opened up yet. It may be opened up to the alpha crew? No idea.

Anyhow.. we should revisit this topic after the final beta weekend.

I think a main point of his post was missed, he is stating its not ready for release RIGHT NOW, as in answering all the fools that want it to drop tommorow. I agree with you both on certain points:

~Trade Channel~ Is a must, no matter how hard we tell them to stfu and die they will continue to spam and flood channels with their ***RARE BOW**** crap so it seems to me its a must.

~Bugs with Maps~ Yeah some may be repeats but there are obviously going to be quirks with every map that are only with in that map, some will be repeats but i think everything will have its own problems and i am pretty sure the Alpha's are testing the whole map and taking care of that.

~Class Balancing and Armor~ well nuff said, do it already...

~Rare Drops~ this may have just been me, but it seemed like quite often I would get a rare item that had a mastery requirement way out of reach so I would end up carrying around this thing while i lvl up, so what I am gettin at is that I think they should tweak which rares drop where, early on in the map there shouldn't be rare's with require mastery of 9 dropping, save that for later, when its more likely you'll have that. jmho

~Archers~ Not really sure what problems you had with the archers, I played on them some, but didnt focus on them, I havent heard of major probs with them.

Well thats just my two cents on the matter. No it isnt ready for release now but it seems like they are right on track for making their deadline.

The most important thing for a game entering release is that there are no 'showstopping' bugs. From what i've seen and played, there arent any. The issues you list are mostly 'tidying up' that arena.net will likely do over the next couple of weeks, but wouldn't cause major problems if they were left in.

I don't have any problems with the loot drops or the amount of money you get, just kill a few high end mobs like drakes or bone dragons and you'll get some nice stuff. There isn't 'uber' loot in GW, and IMO that's a good thing as PvP should be about skill, not equipment.

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

The game felt good already in the beta, so from my point of view everything is ok.

I'm ready for the release and that's all that matters.. ::::20::

I have been putting off purchasing other games since the release is so soon. I plan on being addicted to Guild Wars for some time. If I have to wait any longer, I may try some other MMORPG and get addicted to that instead... I can't even wait until the 15th this month!

When you say some other MMORPG GuildWars aint a MMORPG ::::35:: Its a CORPG ; Competitive Online Role-Playing Game ::::39::

You are right, sdoughty, it is a MMORPG... I for one cannot wait for the game to come out. I have enjoyed the past 2 beta weekends and hope to see all of you there!!!

As far as things we have not seen, well, since the betas really don't count...characters are getting wiped..they really don't have any reason to supply them yet. I can only imagine that there will be some awesome drops..

Ok, well, peace out...and btw, in Roleplaying mode it is not competitive unless you count being competitive against monsters you find....LOL

    Well, that's all, Peace Out::::20::
