Just started with EU and man this game is not new player friendly. I'm up for the challenge, played AO and currently playing EVE so I enjoy a complex game but just wondering if there are any guides that could help cut down on the guesswork for me.

As you have been in AO and EVE, and succeeded, I think you then have the patience and persistence to work for your goals in EU. This game takes a lot of time.
