Hello Kitty Online: Chocolate Harbor Rescue to Aid Charity

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Hello Kitty Online players will have the chance to help clean up the Gulf of Mexico after this past summer's horrific oil spill and to help kids in impoverished nations affected by the spill. By simply playing "Chocolate Harbor Rescue" in game, players can generate "donation points" which will be turned into cash donations to Oceana, an organization for ocean conservation, and UNICEF, a children's charitable organization sponsored by the United Nations.

Chocolate Harbour Rescue continues Hello Kitty Online’s drive to recruit players to participate in socially responsible causes. Highly popular HKO charity events have already benefited Doctors Without Borders’ mission in earthquake-struck Haiti, UNICEF, The Asian Youth Orchestra, and the Po Leung Kuk orphanage. A sample of Hello Kitty Online charity events is available at http://www.hellokittyonline.com/charity.

Find out more about the game here.

Yeah help the children sure... and help parents have more children in rich countries where everyone is consuming more than they should, help parents in poor countries where they can't care for them, help mankind grow exponentially to deplete the planet to exhaustion, to consume more, to waste more, to pollute more. 30% of species disappeared in the last 40 years, now 5% of species disappear every 10 years because of human growth (WWF figures).

Keep them coming, we need more children, good charity and good conscience, we are so noble and smart.

Unlike the ranting lunatic who would have no one help no one, I think this is a great idea! Yeah, I'll never play HKO, but it'd be nice to have this philosophy go for a trial run in some of the bigger mmorpgs.

I agree with the ranting lunatic, what is right and noble may not be the correct line of thinking when it comes to keeping the planet habitable.  The hellokitty thread is a perfect place to debate this sort of thing...

Hehe, the sheer irony of debating charity semantics inside of a Hello Kitty Thread :) Makes me smile and feel warm inside!
