Hello all, I was just in the process of looking up how compatible my software will be with such and such, when I go from windows XP to Windows 7 64bit, I found a lot of my single-player games will be fine, " According to Microsoft! " but I found no information about mmorpg's, so I'm wondering does anyone know of a list, that tells us which are not compatible and which MMORPG's do work with a 64bit OS be it, XP or Windows 7, if not then maybe we can start one here?
I suspect that in the next couple of days I will be adding a few games to the list, but if any of you already know of any games that work or don't work, then please list them down, if we get enough maybe the staff at mmorpg.com can add the info to the sites Games list.
if you could just leave the info in a simple manner,
E.g. Game name, which OS, XP/W7? Then type it at the top of your post, so I can see it and add it.
I'll re-edit this thread and list them here, any extra information for those that can run, but require a bit of editing or programing, best would be to keep it a simple explanation or post it on a separate site and post a link, then I'll just copy the link over as well.
so If you all want to keep on chatting about 32bit & 64bit mmorpg games, you can.
Any advice would be appreciated, yes I have a 32bit version of W7 as well, I would luv to read some posts on the pro's and con's of 32bit Vs 64bit when it comes to gaming, also I am by far NoT a computer genius or a software programmer, so please keep it simple, for all of us, cheers
Ok I hope you guys like this idea and help me to set it up and gather the information, I would also like to say as well, thank you all for read this post and sharing, thank you.

one of the nicest things about win7 is the compatibility feature, you can right click an app and tell it to run it as XP if you're having trouble with it.
and i haven't found an MMO that my win7 64 bit wouldn't play,Aion,eq,eq2,Fallen earth,AoC,CoX,WoW,Aika,Global Agenda,LoTR,SWG, ummm i know there was more on here those are just the ones i have installed ATM i just sleaned a bunch out the week before i barely logged into and most of those will be going once i get around to it. haven't played an MMO since RoTGS, well about a month or 2 after it released.
Lineage 2 runs fine on Win7 64bit
A modern computer needs a 64 bits system, the 32 bits just can't handle enough memory now. There are still many people with 32 bits systems but they will be gone in a few years.
The only game I know that wont work in 64 bits (including XP mode) is Neverwinter nights 2 by Obsidian, there is a fix for it but it is kinda complicated.

Eve online - yes - W7 64 bit
Warhammer online - yes - W7 64 bit
I've never had any problem running MMOs on my Win7 x64.
I think a much much easier list would be to try and get people to post which they've had problems with because I haven't heard a lot of problems with running the 64 bit OS unless its with very old games.
oh yeah FFXI ran on it also
More or less every single game since Diablo 2 will work in 7 64 bits, NWN2 not counted. And every game from the last 5 years is not a problem, you might find a small exception but you shouldn't worry, it is really rare.
I never gotten any problem myself but the guy who bought my old computer got problems with NWN2. That is the only game he had problems with (NWN works fine but no surprise, Bioware are better at coding than Obsidian) and he loves old RPG games.
o i did have a problem with "the Witcher" the original version not the directors cut of the game.i had bought it when it first came out it ran fine on my old system wich was a crappy vista 32 bit, but once i upgraded to this it wouldn't install at all. sent in a ticket to D2D they was no help at all so ended up buying the Directors cut from steam one day an that one worked.
and last i checked i couldn't even find a copy of the original witcher probably because they stopped supporting it.every patch and fix i could find was for directors cut only.
Hey thanks everyone, this list is shaping up fast.
abyss610, you have pretty much the same games as me, thanaks for sharing, I'm very happy about AoC being on your list, since I just got the expansion for it, any word on DDO?
DDO is fine on Win 7 64
DDO, Guildwars, AoC and EQ2 all run fine on 64 bits W7. AsI said earlier, it is rare that anything made in this century doesn't work even if it happens. In that case there use to be fixes out on the web.
Just get 64 bits and don't look back. If you really must play a game that actually don't work you can always put in an extra harddrive and install XP or 2K on it as a second OS, works fine. But the games are few and far between as long as you patch the little older games.
a 64bit OS wont matter these games are not made as 64bit games only meaning everyone of them wont ever actually run in 64bit mode windows 7 will run it in 32bit mode just fine. Honestly a 64bit only game should be on the way soon and it will be one that will take advantage of the fact that with 64bit it can use more then 2gbs of ram for one instance(exe).
Oh and im suprised developers havent released a 64bit exe for there games by now to take advantage of systems with 8 to 36gbs of ram.
DDO worked on Vista 64.
As a matter of fact, I've been using 64bit for about 3yrs now and I haven't ran into a single problem on any game released within the last decade.
XP 64 has alot of problems though. Just stay away from that pile of junk all together.

Thanks again, my thanks to Loke666, The Hatter, Abyss610 and everyone who shared advice and help on the subject, I am now very confident about installing Windows 7 -64bit and hopefully should be able to move to Win7-64bit this week, thanks and cheers!
The only game I have heard of with restrictions to any system is All Points Bulletin which have lower grahpics for 32 Bit systems becasue of the lack of RAM that a 32Bit OS offers.
32BIT: 2 Gigs RAM
64Bit: Over 2 Gigs RAM
Neverwinter Nights 2 is a bloody mess of a game (code-wise that is) so this is not surprising.
@ the topic: I use Vista Business 64-bit.
All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
I would highly recommend w7. It's most probably the best operating system since WinXP SP3. As a side note the worst operating system from Microsoft has still got to be W-Millennium.
But either way, always go for a 64 bit computer and operating system. 32 bit, really isn't an option any more.
The survey is a no-brainer, everyone will choose the latest, most advanced SO.
Windows 7, 64 bit. DOH!
