I used to play LOTRO when it originally went live and I still have the CD. Can I use the CD to load the game now assuming it will go through some patching to update to the new FtP client? Or, do I have to download the FtP client ?
Asking this because the FtP client download is incredibly slow, started it yesterday afternoon and it's only 7M into the complete download. Was thinking about canceling the DL and trying to install with the CD.
Also, anyone know tha amount of Turbine points needed to create a warden or Runekeeper ?
Thanks.

I originally installed my game with the CD, and the F2P update downloaded to it just fine. Having said that, I would expect the update to be quite large for a vanilla install based on the CD.
As for the points cost, I've no idea, sorry. Hopefully someone will be along to answer that for you.
You'll be fine starting the load with your old CD's. Once connected the game will do it's auto patch thing to bring you up to speed.
By chance did you ever get / buy the MoM expansion pack? If so you'll have Warden & Runekeeper already unlocked so they won't cost you a dime.
If not, the very first sticky on this board is 'LotRO Store - Full price list' which will help you with your TP question.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
Thanks for the replies.
I never got any expansions but I may see what's available locally in stores.
I'll check out that LoTRO Store thread, thanks for the tip.
Another question just crossed my mind. Since the game is F2P now, could I assume that no game code will be required from the original CD? Asking this since I would like to install the game on a 2nd PC in the house and would be nice to be able to use the same CD. If not I could just let the DL finish and copy it over to the 2nd PC.
Edit: I'm referring to the original install CD and not the MoM CD.
ya you can use disk on as many pc as you want now but only the account you entered the code for will be instant premium account. skip the code just goes right to F2P account.
You would be better off buying a boxed edition of MoM from either store or ebay, as the price to unlock just one of those classes is 795 tp which is roughly $13.15 calculating from the 420tp=$6.95.The only way buying them with points would be a deal is if those points were from grinding deeds and quests and there you have the grind factor hehe.
Hm that's pretty interesting actually, if you buy the boxed game with expansion, and use the key that comes with it, you're automatically a premium member?
What exactly does premium entail? Complete game access, essentially making the game buy2play now, similar to how Guild Wars works?
Curious to know more on this, because i've seen the box dirt cheap at my local gamestop.
permium get
4 toon slots insead of 2
unlimited holding of ingame money free players have a low limit and once hit can no longer gain
and a tad bit of cusomer support , free to play get auto redirect to FAQ
higher peiority in case of serv. wait time
toon slots are like 500 points each so just the 2 slots allown makes it worth while
Also keep in mind that moria includes another 2 charslots. So you go from 3(since when is it 4?) for being premium to 5 for owning moria.
There really is no reason you shouldn't be able to use the cd to install the game but the thing is from the cd it should install the code as it was then which would also require a rather large update I'd think, with the game free to play wouldn't it just be quicker to install the game from the website?
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
