Hey there people... now this won't be your average winge session. This is me guinely giving an opinion and expressing my concerns on Guild Wars 2.
That concern is of course NC Soft, I have had so many problems with NC Soft. To start of with, NC Soft are appauling at customer support, and reports are quite literally everywhere over the internet about legit, legal players going for a break from Guild Wars/ NC Soft game and returning to find their account banned. My gaming buddy who had this problem, went for a break when he went travelling I assumed his account was hacked and had become compromised, but he returned and his account had been blocked, with no response from 6 e-mails sent to NC Soft.
That thought stood untill I went for a break from guild wars myself, I admit i played guild wars for all of one month; on and off on odd days here and there and went for a break, I return a good 4-5 months later, with the fresh appetite to give this game a good play. However I forgot my character name so I sent an email to NC Soft; 1 week and 3 days later I got a reply asking for the product key used amungst other personal details. SO I took my game case out grabbed the card and sent them details, sure enough 4 days later got my char name, great I thought!! WRONG I go to login using all correct details, only to find it says error: username cannot be found in our database (or something similar).
I message NC Soft regarding my account status, no reply. I send another ..no reply.... but they replied to my previous e-mails about my details...go figure hiding much?... Now Guild Wars 2 looks out right amazing so far but im scared half to death of getting this game, putting all my time into it, going for a short break to find all my time, money and effort wasted because NC Soft want more money...
Is anyone else sharing these concerns.. and please this is not a QQ session I want this game to be epic, but im worried that NC Soft is still the company publishing this one.

First off, I completely understand your concern about account security. ANet has said that there will be several ways that you must confirm you are who you say you are in order to validate your account and so forth. Think a password, name of a character you have, and a question only you would know. This will help control if not nearly eliminate account theft (hopefully!).
As for customer support, I can only look to the original Guild Wars and how good it was, which was pretty decent and the developers and customer relations were always very good.
Kind of humorous regarding account security. My daughter was able to get NCSoft customer support to send a character name to her from my wife's old account. Didn't even slow her down a bit.
So NCSoft sent someone they didn't know (exchange was via e-mail) a character name to an account. They sent the name to a different e-mail address than what was on the account (so, basically, no real validation). Granted my daughter knew the password, but security is only security if it is maintained all the time. In this case, my daughter was legit...but NCSoft had no real way to know that.
Almost makes you wonder how many account hacks were caused by NCSoft themselves...
My account got banned on its own for not playing for a couple years. But i did get it back in a day after a couple emails (first asking what this ban about and then giving the cdkeys). Seems the support is hit and miss like every other support on the internet
I may try another e-mail but I won't get my hopes up. Would be nice to refresh myself untill GW 2 is released. It is looking so very promising THE game I've wanted, a game for fun, not for doing chores!
Me and me wife been playing NCsoft titles on and off for 6 years now, never had any problems with support so far.
I think securrity and support are allways concerns for every online game..
I still need to find that company that can make things work perfectly for everyone.

Gaile Grey of ArenaNet has said that there will be new security measures for your account in Guild Wars 2.
You might find some of the support issues here informative to you. Gaile has replied to a number of player concern posted on Guild Wars Wiki.

I quit Guild Wars originally after about 2 months of play. Now, even with that been said - 5 years after the fact I was able to not only log onto my account but was able to claim 4 years of anniversairy gifts. Also, when I contacted NCsoft about merging that account with another account they gave me a reply within the hour.
I suppose all accounts differ from person to person but I wouldnt be concerned if I were you - every game with log-in info has similar complaints and issues just like the ones you are detailing to us. My advice is to just enjoy, and keep your anti-virus software up to date for the purpose of sniffing keyloggers.
People think it's fun to pretend your a monster. Me I spend my life pretending I'm not. - Dexter Morgan
I too was a returning player who couldn't remember my character name for the new logon security check. I e-mailed them all the necessary details and they replied within 12 hours.
All was well.

Yeah when i got my account unbanned they reset the ncsoft master account password and gave a name of one of my characters automaticly. I just had to go and change the guildwars password and i was ready to play again.
Thank you everyone for your replies, there is alot of reading there from Gaile, I think I might just give up with the account, I only had one level 20 not even with decent gear. I just find it damn rude that they cannot even reply to my e-mail regarding my account status, afterall it is supposed to be customer support, but I didn't even get that., one would only assume it's banned. I don't even know why... (
