It's not only because it's FF people play it it's also because it's coming from a great game creator which have a great story SE.
who dont listen to the players or care what you think....gg
Christ, you could put lightsabers into the players hands and call this same game star wars and the fanbois would play it. There is always a sucker
They were not going to add hardware mouse, they thought 48 hours for leves were fine, they thought the surplus was fine as is, they thought the thing to use teleport was fine as is and so on.
Many people complained and what happened? yea right they were tweaked.
Yes SE might not let every request of every random person but if many complain on said thing they see what they can do.
And as usual the fanboy bs because I like a game you don't like eh?

I’ve been in quite a few closed betas and I’ve yet to see any developer spend a considerable amount of time listening to the player base. Probably because the player base doesn’t know what it wants half the time. So this statement itself is rather trollish and inane.
Are there problems with ff14? Certainly yes, are they game breaking, for some. Do people like the ideas and concepts? Apparently enough do to support the game. Will the problems that a majority of people actually playing the game find to be an issue be resolved? Only time will tell.
As for whether or not I would play the game if it didn’t have the ff title? Yes I would just because I like the concepts and I like the progressions system. I don’t like the User-interface response times but I hope that will be addressed, and I really like the idea of no global AH. I hope some sort of of regional ah is put in game but we shall see
People comaplin it s too hard, it s not. People complain they don t listen, well they had a vision, and don t want to go to far off this vision, but they re tweaking it. I m not blind and I realize it needs some more work, but as is now it s a very playable and enjoyable game. I m not playing it hardcore at all work schedule makes it impossible) but I m still finding enough time to enjoy it. Alot of things daily are being discovered on my server and slowly being released (dungeons, crafting patterns for success, mobs that drop decent stuff etc) When a few more things get tweaked and a couple things added this game will go from very good to great, to me anyways.
I purchased the CE based on what info was available and the open beta, certainly the name had no influence on me as I've never played a FF game before and only seen part of a film called FF Spirits within or something like that. But I do like this game.

Apparently an ah is coming, or a search board where you can buy stuff directly, or find a retainer that has it, purchase it from the board and go to it, with a savings. Kinda eq2 style. Not sure when it will be in but that will be nice when it is.
If FFXIV wasn't made by SE I would have gotten violent with the package and stopped playing immediately. As it is right now, I am only playing the little bit I am in hopes that they will improve the game later. That way I won't have fallen behind. However, after less than a week I find myself having a hard time playing more than 20 minutes without rage quitting. On a good note however, I appreciate my other games much more now & have been compelled to study more as well.
Yes i would i dont care from whom a game is or how its called or how many ppls claim its the biggest junk ever created all that matters to me is if i have fun playing and that i do very much so yes i would still play it for sure.(i would even try a new Blizzard MMO)
However i might not have gotten the CE actually might not have gotten 2 of them if i would have realized earlier that the America version of the CE was a piece of crap
... the game in its current state if it didn't carry the Final Fantasy name?
(so exact same package as we have now but not made by SE).
Be honest.
I may have tried it, because a japanese MMO isn't something to be seen quite often. I loved PSO, so... Of course this is assuming it were made not by SE but by another jap studio ; should it be korean it would just have been "another fantasy title" to me, that I wouldn't even have looked at considering the players feedback, since I'm sick of fantasy--sci-fi fan here. I only touch the best fantasy has to offer since it doesn't really turn me on anymore--dragons, swords, mythical heroes and fairy tales, that stuff tends to become even more unreal and void of significance as I grow older.
If it weren't SE/FF, I would have definitely left the game (and stopped watching its evolution) within the first week. I cancelled my pre-order back in OB (played since June) and I am now waiting for much improvement. I guess it's reasonable to expect the product will be complete (FF XIV version 1.0 "as intended") by march 2011. The game just isn't fun to play as it is (see my cognitive approach in the Japanese review thread), because goals can't make 100% of the experience: the pleasure of working towards those goals has to be there, too. And grinding the same mobs in the same landscapes for hours, or sitting hours to craft (or fail to) a single item just isn't fun to me in 2010. I did that ten years ago, now I'm expecting more.
I don't like paying subs for betas. And it's only because I can't believe that SE is so stupid that I will keep watching this XIV's ride.

I've played plenty of betas(the majority actually) where the developers payed attention to their players: GW, WoW, EQ2,etc. I think the issue is that Asian developers don't pay attention to their US beta players, the reason why being quite obvious. The only reason that a beta for an Asian Developed game would be held in an English speaking country is for translation issues and marketing.
I'm just going to sit here and savor the irony of being asked, "could you enjoy the game if it didn't have the Final Fantasy name" by somebody who likely couldn't enjoy the game specifically because he had expectations associated with the Final Fantasy name.
Truth be told, the Final Fantasy name does have something to do with the reason I'm gunning for the game. Specifically, knowing that Final Fantasy XI had similar problems at release, and everything turned out fine.
The only reason I watched this game for so long was because it was from the makers of FFXI. I don't like FFXIV though so I guess the topic title doesn't apply to me.
I would of followed the game either way because of FFXI not because of the FF title on their new MMO... for a while we were told that it wouldn't be an FF title. x:
To be honest, no. I would not be playing the game in it's current state if it wasn't Final Fantasy, and wasn't created by Square Enix. I would still be playing FFXI.
However, since Square Enix has a great reputation for massive content patches, and constant updates (ala FFXI), I am here playing FFXIV, and enjoying it. There are a few things that I don't like with the game, but the same can be said for any game. You know why? Because the game wasn't created for me alone. I still can have fun playing SE's creation.
I personally am very excited to be playing FFXIV atm, because it feels good to get in at the ground level, explore and find new things, and watch the game develop. No mmorpg is "finished" upon release, it takes time. Some people want to wait for it to mature into an awesome game with tons of end game content and armor and NMs, but for me I am personally glad to get in at the start this time.

add lightsabers and I'm totally there.
oh, and jumping.

Yes one reason Miqu'te. Not like my rason? Your problem I guess.

I didn't care about the FF name. I'm not currently playing but I honestly only played initially because of the lalafell and miqote.

But yeah... FFXIV... not so great.
This is the only Final Fantasy game I have ever played, so obviously yes, I would still be playing if it were not a Final Fantasy game.
one reason: SE made ffxi. only and very only reason i will play this till the earth crumbles to cookies.
